Supportive and fast acting
General outpatients and hospital-based consults

I had a really good experience with cancer services. They nursed me through very quickly. I was grieving for my husband and I had support from the consultant. Within 2 weeks of being diagnosed I was having an operation.
The labour and maternity ward is okay
Maternity care
October 21, 2025
Maternity ward has been okay. There needs to be clearer information and communication on things like induction and there should be consistency. Also the wards are confusing you don't always know where to go. Maternity is the purple path and then it's yellow for labour wards. I am told to go to one place and then end up at another. No signage for triage and then told to go to floor three and got to the wrong place. The labour part was otherwise very caring and midwives are so supportive which goes a long way.
The service is okay
Inpatient care/General inpatients

Sometimes some nurses on the stroke ward do not allow us to stay with him during the night time and because there is a language barrier the nurses don't cooperate with my father in law. The service is okay and they're helpful. The nurses are doing their best but we want someone to stay with him.
Very good
Emergency department (including A&E)

A long wait at A&E but they took good care of me. Very good.
Four cancellations
Cardiology/heart medicine
October 15, 2025
I've had four appointments cancelled under cardiology, they change the date and then cancel it. Not sure when we will be seen. There are no reasons given for the cancellations.
Terrible

The lifts are terrible. They broke down. No one cares at all, no one helps. It's terrible there.
Everyone is nice and the care is okay
Inpatient care/General inpatients

Good, been here since Saturday. Can't complain, everyone is nice and the care is okay.
The care was good
October 14, 2025
My son was in here after breaking his leg and had to have surgery. He was here for 5 days. The care is good, I can't fault it. When he went to theatre they asked him to swivel and move beds but I had to tell them he couldn't because he had a broken leg. It can be hard to navigate. Even people working the around the hospital get lost.
The hospital is challenging
October 14, 2025
Challenging. Signage and floor layouts are confusing. Audio in lifts isn't available so I didn't know what floor I was on as I have a visual impairment. The volunteers are a positive though, they go above and beyond. They have good training. A staff member told me where the department I wanted was. Why do I need to go to floor 5 for reception.
Great staff

I was still trying to find my way around. I was sent for a special scan from the hospitals I use elsewhere as they don't scan anywhere else. Communication is very good. The size of the hospital intimidates me but the people have been great.
