"The open surgery works well"

We have an open surgery between 8:30am to 11am. In the afternoon it's booked appointments. It works very well but the only problem is it can be quite a queue on a Monday. The reception is very good. I am yet to book in for the afternoon as I find the morning open surgery is very good.

"Feel rushed if I get an appointment"

Very busy and they mix up all the appointments. It's hard to get through on the phones and the phone cuts out. The staff are okay. They just see me quickly and want to get me out of the room.

"Trapped in a circle"

My GP Surgery offers 'Open Surgery' every morning, which is great, if you are in pain/suffering and need same day help. Where is doesn't work, is the fact it is very difficult to book an appointment for something that might be okay to be seen in a few days. It is difficult to get an appointment quite often, but then they can't open their books for appointments more than (I think it is) 10 days in advance so you are trapped in this circle of not being able to book, so you end up having to go to the open surgery. There are times when open surgery is overwhelmed and then the poor receptionists are trying to triage patients which really is way above and beyond their qualifications or pay scale.

"I cannot fault them"

Fantastic and it's an open surgery now so if you get there early they will see you. I cannot fault them at all. They follow up and they're brilliant. I went back to them after having no joy with NHS 111 and got antiviral medication too.

"GP was really nice"

My contraceptive implants have finally been done. I'm just waiting for my smear test. There's a bit of a waiting list. The GP was really nice. It took time to get the appointment as I couldn't get to the original one I had booked.

"Hit and miss"

Bit hit and miss, not very often available on the website and they don't give appointments 2 weeks before a certain date. They do listen and are supportive when you do get an appointment however.

"Really good"

I find them really good. They have an open surgery everyday where you can drop in without an appointment. They have 3 doctors and two nurses. I can book appointments on the NHS app straight away too.

"Brilliant open surgery"

It's brilliant - the open surgery they have in the morning is marvellous. You can drop in with any concerns. The receptionists are lovely and the prescription ordering is online so it works well.

"No follow up"

Walk in surgery seems like good idea but waiting times can be very long. There is an expectation that patients are able to attend morning surgery and little understanding that not everyone can do this. Appointments very difficult to arrange and reception staff can be obtuse.

"No problems as I don't go"

No problems because I don't go. The have a walk in service every morning so you can see a doctor. I was called in once for a dementia check up, once in 4 years. I had a flare up in my hands and was told to take ibuprofen but I can't take them. He just continued inputting stuff onto the computer.

"The surgery is so good."

Absolutely brilliant, because they do have a walk in service so you don't have to wait to get an appointment. You have to wait to access it but you get to see a GP between 8:30-11AM. The surgery is so good.

"They have a drop in service"

Fine. I don't have much contact with them but they do still have a drop in service which is very good. So if you need to be seen you do have to wait but they will see you between 8 and 11 AM.

"Staff are friendly and cater for patient need"

The surgery is very good. The staff are friendly and cater for patients needs. The signage and directions are complicated as the letters aren't clear but it's fairly good. The waiting time is not too long as on average its about 20 minutes. Letters sent are not concise as they don't tell you where you have to go or give directions.

"Couldn't provide travel vaccination advice"

I phoned the doctors about travel vaccines requirements. I got through okay but the only help they offered was to suggest I could call a private clinic, who may sell me the service whether it is essential or not. All I wanted to know was whether Hepatitis A is a vaccine required/recommended for travel to Bulgaria, as the information on the NHS/Gov travel websites was confusing. They said a nurse would usually see me in the 6 weeks before I travel to check my vaccine records. I did not need anyone to check my records - I just wanted to know what the current NHS advice is. They said a nurse did not have time to answer this question. So now I will be travelling unvaccinated as I can't risk a private clinic trying to sell me and 3 other members of my household something I may not need.

"Should be able to prebook appointments"

I can't get through to them on the phones. I walk in at 8:30am and you will be seen. Problem with that is you can't prebook and appointment and making it work around working or kids and school is hard. You don't know how long you'll be waiting, could eventually be seen at 11am or 12pm. Should be able to prebook appointments, need to do that.

Slow in doing child’s injection before 16 weeks, he was late so had to chase them up. They didn’t get back in contact until chasing again. Nurse who did the immunization was lovely.

"Almost impossible to see a doctor Woodland Road surgery"

Before COVID and lockdowns I would have always recommended this surgery very highly. Since COVID it is extremely difficult to even get a phone consultation and almost impossible to see a doctor - why is this? I have had optician, dental, hospital, physio and chiropody appointments, why is it so difficult to see my GP?

"They have been excellent Woodland Road Surgery"

I've unfortunately had to request support from my GP twice during the pandemic and they have been excellent. I've had a call back from a GP within a very reasonable time frame and the issues have been resolved via telephone calls. I've also received a phone call from the surgery inviting me to go for a vaccine, and that was incredibly efficient and also the staff were - as ever - friendly, welcoming and efficient.

"Basic function is not covered by the NHS."

The service at Woodland Rd is excellent and I have no complaints. My problem is that I am now in the severely hard of hearing category and wear hearing aids. As is common I need my ears microsuctioned and GPs do not seem to offer this as it's not funded. The NHS clinic that usually does it is also closed. My only alternative is a private clinic which luckily I can afford but I'm furious that this basic function is not covered by the NHS.

"Sorted out my medication"

They managed to sort out my medication, they were very helpful. I went to see my GP and she was really helpful, understood my needs and wanted to help. She provided me with the right support. A time is always set when it is quiet. I have also through her had my blister pack back.
