"Should be more accessibility"

Refused an ambulance service because I have an electric wheelchair but some taxi drivers don't like the extra help that I require. I have difficulties waiting for buses because I have COPD as well as awaiting other diagnosis too. The ambulance service should be more accessible to people in my situation.

"Brilliant"

This morning I called ambulance transport and what I got on the end of the line was a person she was most unpleasant and argumentative over everything I said so to avoid any further confrontation I hung up. I called back a couple of hours later and got a different person, I've had him help me before and he is always kind, polite and easy to deal with. As soon as I heard his voice I was happy it wasn't her again.
Why can't everyone be like him

"Rude"

I get ambulance transport almost every week as I'm in a wheelchair, I phoned to book for some this morning and what a person I got on the end of the phone, she was a proper nasty piece of work and I'm 99% sure I've had her before.
She is just damn right rude and nasty. To avoid any further confrontation with her I put phone down.

"They don't come out anymore"

They don't come out as they don't think he is disabled enough. They used to and now they don't.

"I used to qualify"

I used to qualify but all of a sudden they said I wasn't eligible even though I'm registered disabled.

"They wouldn't allow my daughter to use it!"

Daughter is totally incapacitated with a serious knee injury, and cant bear weight, was told by a rude lady she doesn't qualify because when she came out of hospital previously she used an uber xl, but what she didn't realize was that my daughter was literally on intravenous morphine which was still working to get her into the uber, shocking service, I'm going to have to cancel her appointment with the hospital as we have no means of getting her there.

"Can't have someone with me"

You can't have someone with you when you use them. It's hard being on your own when you're anxious and sometimes I forget what is being said in appointments so it would be good if you could have someone with you.

"Don't allow a carer to come with me"

It works but they don't allow a carer with me and I have to leave the door open if I needed because I need a carer with me and I hope no one comes in.

"Can't rely on them"

You can't rely on them, they get there over an hour too soon. I end up going in right away and I waited for 2 hours for them to come and take me home.

"Six hours waiting to go home."

Taxi came for me and got here bang on time. It was an in and out appointment, Ambulance called to take me home. I have been sat next to reception all day. Receptionist has kept me supplied with tea and chased up ambulance at least six times. Can’t fault hospital staff or Drivers it’s the faceless suits that let the NHS down.

"Relies on hospital transport"

My brother who has had two strokes and can not use his right leg or right arm depends on hospital transport to get him to appointments but sometimes they cancel he only gets out of the house when he goes to appointments as he lives above a shop with very steep stairs so his family can not take him out.

"Arrived too early"

I arrived 2 hours before my appointment time and had to wait for 3 hours for a return. Last year they refused to let me use the ambulance service as they didn't know about my illness but once they knew they said I could use the ambulance service. Everything else is good.

"Excellent"

Great. Staff were nice and when they brought me to the Royal they took me straight to the minor operations unit. Excellent.

"The waiting can be too long."

It was booked for me and they said the maximum time waiting could be 4 hours. If I had known I would have just booked a taxi. I have been waiting over an hour so far. The ambulance getting here was fine and got me here on time. That was easy to book on the phone.

"A long process"

It can be a long process and you're not the only one being picked up. You have to wait a long time for collection too.

"They were good."

They were good. They took me to hospital and when I was discharged they gave me a ticket and arranged transport back for me. The staff were sound there.

"Nice, kind staff"

They transferred my baby to another hospital after 3 weeks. They looked after him as best they could on the short journey. The staff were very very nice and kind.

"Told I cannot have transport."

I need to go to several hospitals and need transportation to go. I am being told I cannot have transport any longer and have to take a taxi some weeks it cost me £100 this is not good enough I am 81 and have poor mobility it's like a prison interview trying to get help so demeaning.

"Pretty good like"

They transfer me from my chair to a stretcher for an X-rays or scans so they can easily move me about. They're pretty good like, but I could do with the same sort of transport for covid injections or to the GP or dentist.

"Hospital transport doesn’t come before 9 am"

Hospital transport doesn’t come before 9 am and if your appointment is before 8 am you have to arrange your own transportation which costs £40. Few weeks back I went to hospital for my appointment at 8am by paying £40 and was told that appointment has been cancelled without any explanation given. I think it’s not fair.

"Very difficult to get a hospital transport"

It’s very difficult to get a hospital transportation and they keep on changing the appointment date and time. To get hospital transportation you have to give them 2 week notice otherwise you have to arrange your own transportation, which at times is very difficult and I have to go on taxi by spending £40.

"Poor customer service in the booking office"

For years i use to travel to ROH by bus 3 there 3 back till I found it difficult to walk. I was told to use this service which I have over several years with different suppliers but now it seems one person in the booking office is more qualified then my foot, knee, shoulder, hands and kidney consultants and says i no longer qualify for this service. If anything now happens to me I will be suing the hospital and transport
