"No longer giving me regular follow ups"

Due to my long term chronic diseases and recent joint surgery I was getting regular follow ups. Now I get nothing. They recently tried changing my hospital prescribed eye drops for a cheaper version that I cannot use. This was without consulting me. They also kept sending eye ointment even though I keep telling them I am allergic which is wasting money. My eyesight is very bad and I cannot cope with online appointments.

"Refused to see me"

I was a patient at the practice before going to university and registering there. On the NHS website it says that you can still use your home practice when you are not at university. Vesey Practice refused to see me at all when I was home from university and needed to see a doctors.

"Difficult to get appointments"

The issue is getting appointments, if you are offered an appointment the problem becomes getting a timely appointment. Access is the main issue at this surgery.

"Can't always see my appointment on the app"

Sometimes the appointment you have booked doesn't show on the app and then I have to call them to find out what it is.

"Good with referral process"

My husband has hallucinations and they said they didn't know much about it so would refer on. You don't see the same GP twice. They were good when we initially saw them for the diagnosis of dementia but they said it would take a while.

"I left the GP surgery"

I have got post covid syndrome which has caused fibromyalgia and has also increased my osteoarthritis pain and caused joint pain. Last year I spoke to my GP about this as this had been going on for two years and I have become completely housebound. Because I am autistic I have a monotone voice as well as not many facial expressions. I already explained this. The GP put in his notes that I sounded well and I could speak in complete sentences. They sent an occupational therapist and that man had been told by my GP that I had been in a fibromyalgia flare for two months. Not that I had been suffering with long covid symptoms for two years. There was nothing he was able to do to help support because I am already doing everything to help myself. I stopped contacting my doctor so surgery because I have been used to medical gas lighting for many years. It was the final straw. But I have now left that GP surgery and gone elsewhere to a doctor who knew me in the past and who does believe me and who has actually given me diagnoses and support.

"Tell you to go to A&E"

Nothing went well, you can't visit the surgery now to make an appointment you have to do it online. The questions asked eventually say go to A&E and then you have to say you have been to A&E and they have referred you back to the Doctor before you can make an appointment.

"GP doesn't take me seriously"

My GP doesn't take me seriously because I'm autistic and have a monotone voice. I have had severe mental health issues my entire life caused by trauma due to being late diagnosed autistics. My GPs always write in their notes that I "sound well" and they don't action anything to help me mentally or physically. I am now housebound due to severe physical health issues that also haven't been taken seriously. I have had osteoarthritis symptoms since my 30s but was only diagnosed two years ago and have not had any x-rays. I have long covid but my GP will not diagnose me or send me for any kind of tests so I can receive support of some kind and do things to help myself feel less unwell.

"My feedback very positive"

Both my sister and I are patients of Vesey Practice.
The service from the receptionists to the doctors is excellent. They are all professional and helpful and whatever the request to see a doctor, nurse or arrange documents it’s a very efficient service.

"Takes too long to see a GP"

It takes too long to see a GP. Then you only get 10 minutes. Can only discuss one issue at a time. I need to make another appointment for another issue.

"Not good, appointments feel rushed"

It's not that good to be honest. I can't get appointments. I phone and there's always 20+ people in the queue ahead of you. I've stopped going and would only go if I thought it was something urgent. It's a long wait for such a quick appointment and some antibiotics, couldn't it be a reason for repeat infections, it's all too rushed.

"Disgraceful"

Been with practice many years, now cannot get to see a doctor as I cannot get appointment, tried on the phone, been into the practice, gone on line nothing and even if you are lucky enough to get appointment you can't see a doctor, its on the phone, how can they see you pain over a phone, service is so bad I have stopped trying and living with the pain which is hard in the job I do.

"Superb Surgery"

I can't rate my surgery (Vesey Practice) highly enough - the receptionist ring ME to book appointments! Friends and colleagues are amazed at how good they are, can't rate them highly enough - thank you so much, fantastic service.

"Better"

A lot better than the practice I used to be at. They're more up to date and they know what they are doing. Contacted them and got my newborn son in as an emergency after delays at my old practice, and got him booked in for vaccinations. They also did my 6 week post partum check up face to face.

"Wouldn't see husband face to face"

Can't get through on phones. You're 70+ in a queue, so I go down to the surgery. I did manage to see a doctor for my leg, but I had to go private. My husband rang the doctors in an emergency as he couldn't breath. Had to ring the doctors on 7 different occasions that day. The doctor wouldn't come out to see him just told him to use his steroids and his emergency pack which had antibiotics. He was dead the next day.

"Not a good practice"

I approached them as I've been having issues with my ankle. They previously prescribed antibiotics, ointment and cortisol cream. But my ankle was getting so hot at night. When lock down eased in May I asked for a face to face appointment and said it wasn't an emergency. I decided to go down to the surgery at 8am the next day and explained why I needed to see a doctor, they said they only see people in emergencies but said a doctor would ring back to speak to me. Ten minutes later they rang and said a doctor would not be calling me back. It's not a good practice.

"They are understaffed"

Frustrating trying to get through as phones are always busy. Not their fault. Just have to be patient. I've found the receptionists really helpful when I have got through. They are understaffed and a lot are suffering stress due to abusive people. They are doing their best.

"Disappointed"

My brother had heart failure and a stroke in 2017 and since then has been disabled with limited feeling on his left side. About 6 weeks ago he started complaining about constipation and was vomiting up anything he ate and drank. He also said he felt bloated. We called the surgery and he had several telephone consultations with different laxatives being prescribed. 3 weeks ago he was referred for a colonoscopy in august. I wasn’t happy with waiting that long especially as he was feeling severe pain and bloating in his left lower abdomen which he’d reported to the doctor. I took him to A&E and he was admitted and 2 days later had a bowel resection and now has a stoma bag. The growth in his bowel is currently being analysed. He is still in hospital on fluids. I think that if he had actually been physically seen by a doctor they would have checked his stomach and have he would have been treated sooner. Disappointed that no account was taken of his lack of feeling on his left side when reviewing how much pain he was in

"Waiting time on telephone"

My biggest concern is the telephone. You are now on a group of GPS and you can be waiting on the phone for over an hour in a cue . No 46 ....then when and if you get through (and there are times you are "next in line" it just rings and rings and is never answered) you end up speaking to someone who just types up what you say and emails it to the practice. This then doesn't get actioned when its time sensitive!!! Ends up being a complete waste of time as you end up having to ring yet again to ask why it hasn't been actioned. If you are ill you would be so frustrated. Most of the time it is a simple thing you need but you have to psyc yourself up to make the call

"Almost impossible to get an appointment"

Almost impossible to get an appointment. If you are lucky enough to get someone to answer the phone, you have to explain your problem to a receptionist. I assume this person has no medical training. She then decides if you are worthy of an appointment and whether it is with a nurse or a doctor. This system relies on a medically unqualified person making crucial decisions. Each patient apparently has a named GP, but there is never an option to see them or speak to them. So the named GP is pretty pointless. The whole appointment system assumes patients are free at 08.00 in order to dedicate an hour to repeat phoning in attempts to get through to the practice, then waiting in a phone queue listening to inane music if you do manage get through, then describing symptoms to aforementioned unqualified receptionist, then waiting by the telephone for a doctor/nurse to call you back at a vaguely specified time. It just doesn’t work for anyone who is trying to work at the same time. You have to take a whole day off work to dedicate to trying to get an appointment.

"Poor since moving to phone consultations"

Poor since moving to phone consultations. I have had two occasions to contact the doctors and both have been dealt with initially by a nurse. Both resulted in being prescribed medication which did not resolve the issue and which needed multiple follow up calls. In the first case a urine sample which showed that the course of medication prescribed was not suitable was ignored and it was only on me following contacting them again as I was not getting better that a GP changed the prescription. The second occasion was for a skin condition, the prescription made things worse and I have given up on the prescribed treatment. Skin conditions need someone to look at them, not guess from a description over the phone. I am really disappointed with the service and hope I don’t get ill anytime soon.

"Not good enough at all"

Since 2018 when it became part of a 7 group practice access to appointments has got worse weekly even taking covid out of the picture You can no longer book appointments online or do telephone requests for repeat prescriptions It has taken up to two weeks of trying to actually get to speak to a GP A GP asked me to email some information and when I did I got an abrupt email back saying book an appointment which took another week to do This is not acceptable I have had incorrect referrals done I have been put on less good medication so they could avoid doing tests in the surgery Not good enough at all

"I am very dissatisfied with the appointment"

It is almost impossible to get through at 8am to book an appointment to see a doctor. After weeks of trying, I got through today but it took 45 mins before I could speak to a person. It felt as if it had to be a real emergency before I could see my GP. Thankfully it was and I was booked in for a telephone consultation. The timeline was anytime after 12 and before 2pm!! I had to get my daughter from school so that she could be there although the dr didn’t even need to speak to her, just asked about her condition and asked to see her face to face for the next day, which is great but it means a morning off school now. I cannot fault the GP as he was amazing but I am very dissatisfied with the appointment system.

Great surgery. Doctors always considerate. On many occasions they've squeezed my kids in at the end of the day so we can get eye drops etc so they aren't out of school. The practice nurses have been awesome throughout.

"Getting a face to face appointment is difficult Vesey Medical Practice"

Whilst GP surgeries say they are open and business as normal, that is not strictly true. Getting a face to face appointment is difficult, not everyone has a smart phone, online booking has gone. People are in pain and suffering because GP surgeries are sending off patients rather than allowing face to face.

"Difficult to make an appointment"

Lovely doctors and nurses, but it is so difficult to make an appointment to see one of them. And the chance of seeing (or speaking on the phone to) the same doctor for a follow-up appointment is very low.

"You can't get to see your GP anymore"

When you ring them you are about number 49 in the queue, it would be nice for them to start seeing their patients again anytime soon. Its disgusting that you can't get to see your GP anymore. I need to book a blood test but I am not prepared to wait over half an hour just to get through.

"She slipped through the net"

Visits to my mother at 96 were monthly and very superficial. Her weight was declining and eventually, she needed treatment for malnourishment, so she slipped through the net. There were other symptoms that we recognized afterward. The carers from BCC did not recognize these symptoms either, but I think the district nursing was primarily at fault. On one of the last visits, her weight was not even measured.

"I am appalled at the telephone service"

Every time my mother rings- to get an appointment, repeat prescription- there are anything from 25-46 callers ahead in the queue. I called 111 this morning because she couldn't get through. They took all her details and symptoms and said she needed to speak to her surgery within the hour. So I have just called on her behalf because she is feeling ill and had to wait 25 minutes to speak to a receptionist to get an appointment. She is 87 and gets very stressed by this and mostly gives up and has to walk to the surgery - about a mile- to get an appointment. My mother had an appt at Four Oaks for an INR test this morning and when I rang to cancel there were 46 callers ahead of me. The cost to patients in terms of time and money is unacceptable.
