"Lack of awareness in autism/hidden disabilities"

As an autistic/ADHD patient I wouldn't recommend being a patient at this service at all to anyone with hidden disabilities this service has a lack of awareness/ training in autism when it comes to handling patients with hidden disabilities they don't understand the bigger picture the realities of being autistic in the doctors surgery scenario if there's a zero star I would of press it but one star is far more accurate. The place needs to be reviewed and investigated to make surgery feel more accommodated and better value service

"Struggling to see a doctor"

Been a patient here all my life and have never know it so bad. Since covid it is impossible to see a doctor. I think I have recurrence of a serious illness and felt really ill Sunday. Monday told only emergency appointments but would get one Tuesday. Tuesday no-one answering phones and apparently within 20 minutes all appointments had gone. Basically given up trying as too stressful. Just wait until gets worse and need A&E

"A bottlenecked system"

Re GP services, it is virtually impossible to get an appointment. The system is bottlenecked. I have on occasions had to phone 20 times in order to get through, only to be placed in a queue, and then finally to be told there are no appointments left and to try again tomorrow. When I tried to get emergency guidance/ treatment (severe reaction to a tick bite) I was offered an appointment with the nurse the following day.

"Long process to get an appointment."

They're alright. There is a lot of phone calls then you have to go through a long process. Will get an appointment at the end of it.

"Referred on time and caring reception team."

Good support provided all of the time. I was referred on time for a mammogram and shoulder issues. A very caring reception team.

"Difficult to get a same day appointment"

It is difficult. If you don't get through at 8:00am then you won't get a same day appointment. They will give you one for in a few days. You will see whatever doctor is available in the practice. The reception staff are matter of fact.

"My feet are much better now."

I was there to have a scan and a follow up in November. They were good. They have done the scans and arranging the follow up was easy. The nurse gave me a number to call and they gave me an appointment straight away. The operation was booked. It was painful but they were helpful, and my feet are now much better.

"Not given information on medication"

Told over phone I had diabetes. Waited 3 weeks for appointment. Then takes to Diabetic Nurse who covers huge area, gave metphormin but not told when or how to take. Not offered a meter until I explained that I took steroids daily because of auto immune disease, they alter frequently and alter my blood sugar levels. Finally given meter to test but told me my level would be 7.4 but she didn't check no help on food, no instructions on eye check, or feet check or anything else. If it had not been because of my mother had Type 2 I would not have a clue. When I checked my blood sugar as I had not eaten anything it was 23.4 I rang Diabetes Nurse and she upped meds immediately and added gliclazide so 2metformin plus 1 gliclazide in morning then 2 metformin pm. Compared to 1 metformin in the morning. I also inject tocilizumab which also alters blood sugar once a week. I put myself in low carb diet and have lost 3 stone which made zero difference to blood sugar but have now reduced steroids to 5 mg daily instead of 10 mg daily that has brought my Hba1c down from 65 to 44 pre diabetic but when flare ups occur of my auto immune disease everything will change again. I have come off the gliclazide and now take capo something as I was getting Hypers and Hypos as my steroids slowly reduced in my system.

"Horrible"

It's horrible ever since my regular doctor left. Since he's left I can't get anything, having to beg for everything and chase to see what I can have. I'm always chasing which is frustrating. Trying to get through at 8:30am to make and appointment and you can't get through.

"Long waiting times"

They seem to be blaming everything on covid and waiting times are far too long.

"Long waits on phone"

They let you into the surgery now without having to buzz in. Theres long waits on the phones and when you do get through it feels like you are disturbing the receptionist, the receptionist is awful. Last time the doctor
sent a text message to tell me to arrange an appointment for blood tests but the receptionist said they could not arrange one.

"Almost impossible to get an appointment"

Almost impossible to get an appointment. Have to phone at 8.30am, along with everyone else, hold in long queue and often then find all appointments are gone for that day. No option to book a future appointment for non-urgent issues. The system is inconvenient, unhelpful and puts patients at risk as there are simply not enough appointments to meet demand even when the patient needs to be seen urgently.

We already know it’s a terrible surgery

"Problems with temporary staff"

The permanent staff are all great. Drs and receptionists. Had problems with getting appointments sometimes but if it's urgent they will usually call me the same day. Doctors are always very kind and helpful. Locums are not always very good though. The nurse who did my smear however, around Feb/March 2020 was extremely rude - told me off that my test was overdue, it wasn't (!), and told me I'd come at the wrong time of the month (they rescheduled, and my period had finished 4 days before). She was telling me off while I was half naked. She said there was no way they'd be able to test the sample, but they did. I had never seen her there before so I hope she was temporary.

"Unable to get a face to face appointment"

Unable to get a face to face appointment, was told on 2/8/21 they had no Gp in on that day, and after being on the for over 40 minutes again today, only to be told, they once again had no Gp on the premises. I'm sure this shouldn't be allowed to open without a Gp. I can't understand why GPs are not doing face to face, but the nurses and health care assistant have been seeing patients all the way through the pandemic. Do they not matter.

"Extremely rude"

The service itself is effective, overall the lead GP and administrative staff try their best. But it is largely manned by locum GPs and Agency Nurses. One of the GP's is extremely rude and threatening, to the point she believes she can tell patients to shut up. The surgery do not handle complaints effectively. There is no Duty of Candour Process, no option to discuss/diffuse the complaint and no apology for poor experience.

"Feel very lucky to have this service."

During lockdown, I have had my asthma review, 3 B12 jabs, flu jab, and smear test. A lot of people seem to be having issues getting such basic services so feel very lucky to have this service.

"Good service"

Great GP surgery, have recently registered as homeless. They registered me easily without fixed address. I haven’t had to have medical urgency appointments yet, so not sure whether I could get them but I have been given normal appointments.
