"Called an ambulance"
The GP said I was having a stroke and called an ambulance.
The GP said I was having a stroke and called an ambulance.
Dreadful. You call at 8am and you're number 24 in the queue. There is no one in the surgery whilst calling them and on the phone. Apparently they're full. I wasn't given a new GP when the old one left either.
I am very happy and satisfied with the care and support provided. My cancer was diagnosed early.
I've been with them for the last 20 years. The GPs are good but they have now taken on so many patients they can't manage. Better management is needed.
Very long waits on the phone and impossible to get an appointment. The reception staff are not helpful.
Not too bad. It can be difficult to get through to them. I have had no luck with the online service. Once you see them they're brilliant.
I was waiting 2 weeks for a call back which led to them telling me to go in.
They are good but it's hard to get in because everything is done over the phone.
Appointment availability is getting better and easier. I was diagnosed quite early and referred to ENT.
I just can't get an appointment. Long waits on the phone and even if you get through to the reception staff they ask too many questions.
Getting appointments is a pain. Also new GPs don't seem to take female health seriously. I'm not impressed with my doctor, a dislocated toe was dismissed as "oh well, it's arthritis"; he also told me I didn't need HRT as I was depressed. Thankfully I'm allergic to antidepressants which he noticed when I told him to read my notes so HRT was prescribed. He told me I didn't have breathing issues when asthma was in my notes. Therefore not being able to see another doctor is hard, I don't trust him.
Good. I can get appointments with them and it's easy. I have no issues with them. The staff are good and listen. They time time during appointments too. I don't feel rushed.
Very professionally run. All staff are very helpful and always provide excellent support.
Very good. I can get appointments to see the GP face to face. The reception staff try to help you, they are excellent.
A great GP, who has taken great care of me during and after covid. I can easily get appointments.
Very difficult to get an appointment, if you do get one it's with a new locum.
They referred me onto Enki cardiology as I have high blood pressure and want to monitor it. It's quite easy to get appointments here and most are face to face too. It's a good practice overall.
They are very caring and proactive. The health and wellbeing clinic encourage you about your total well being. They provide a lot of information to keep healthy. When you need vaccinations or tests they are very good with updating you and reminding you of what you need to do. Very good with communication. The doctors are good and listen to you. They make prompt referrals. I have recently been referred for blood tests and a scan but I'm waiting for the appointment at the moment.
It's difficult to get an appointment. You have to be on the phone queueing for an hour. The doctors are okay and the staff are good. It's the appointment system that is the problem. It's frustrating to wait so long on the phone and you may not even get chance to speak to a receptionist before the phone cuts off.
I was with them for 10 years. Very rude and unhelpful reception team. After covid it's just impossible to get an appointment.
The GPs are 5 stars but the reception staff are 1 star. You have to chase up test results all of the time. Communication is very poor.
Not good really
Very good. I can get appointments and I am happy with them.
Very good, professional and competent GPs.
Very good and professional service. I can get appointments very easily and the GP is very good.
You can't get through on the phone and if you are lucky enough to, then there are no appointments anyway.
Staff are helpful. We can now book online which is like before covid levels. We are registered with a particular GP but never get see them. Seeing a different GP can impact on care. Continuity of care is needed and I feel they should be better that.
Very difficult to get an appointment and see your own GP.
More people taking calls is needed. No issues really with them. Can go in and book appointments early, it won’t be a same day appointment but will give you one for same week, over the phone it can be tricky. First they do a phone appointment and if needed they will invite you for a face to face appointment.
I can no longer have my ears syringed at the surgery and have to pay £85 at another service. I'm very disappointed as sometimes you have to wait outside the surgery and you have to take a ticket. It's not a good service really and it puts me off going. Access is really difficult.
No-one at The Hawthorns seems to have realised that if patients have to ring several days in succession without getting an appt, then they are having to answer the phone several times for one patient! Or is it just their way of stopping their patients getting an appt! It's totally disorganised, I'd rung for times before someone told me that I could book an appt in two weeks time.
I was told that they were not taking new patients since Covid, not true!! Why is this surgery so poor now, when it used to be one of the best locally. I want an appt with my gp, not a lecture on how long it takes to train a doctor!! For goodness sake, get your act together, and soon. Shame because our gp is a star!!
Following a blood test ordered by the doctor following a telephone conversation the doctor offered to sent me “information” about my condition this never arrived
Hard to get through, can’t get past the receptionist. Receptionists don’t past the messages to GP when I call them for my medicines and as a result I have to go to hospital. I have just called to order the medicines and they said I can’t do it over the phone and I should do it online or go into the surgery.
Ringing for an appointment over a month. Have to ring at 8:30 to get an appointment. Which is during school run. Had to get a friend to do it and they ended up being able to book it for me.
They are not organised. I asked for new patient registration for a newborn, but they gave me an adults form. Filled it in and gave it back with the red book as evidence due to backlog getting his birth certificate. Registered around 4 weeks old. Phoned them up at 8 weeks old for immunisations and my own 6 week check up. They said they'd contact by the time he was 12 weeks old, but they never did because his registrations was pending. They did not communicate this with me. Told me they could not register him until I had the birth certificate. Now he's a month behind his vaccinations.
Its not accessible. Do not allow pushchairs into the building and antenatel is up a flight of stairs.
It was really good before the pandemic, you can get same day appointments but waiting times on the phone have quadrupled. And you don't always get to see your own doctor.
Hard, can't get through, phone at 8:30am and I'm number 15 in the queue. Normally all appointments are gone so I say it's an emergency and they give me an appointment over the phone, then if it's an emergency they call you to come in. The systems gone out of control years ago.
I like it because next month they are sending me to the hospital for having my gallstones taken out.
They didn’t tell you where you were in the queue had to move. Difficult to access them.
It’s difficult to get an appointment but once you pass the reception staff, doctors and nurses are great.
The doctors are nice and helpful however booking an appointment is difficult and a nightmare as most appointments you can only book on the day so you wait in a phone queue at 8am or wait in person which is difficult to do with my job.
In phone queue for an hour then get cut off then have to try again following day then same experience
Its horrendous to get through to them. You have to wait for at least 45 minutes.
Got appointment very quickly with nurse for shingles jab, Very helpful.
Would like to see doctor face to face . Struggling to get an appointment. I have been phoning since last 3 days morning and afternoon. This can still be a telephone appointment.
It is nearly impossible to get an appointment. Elderly people are made to wait in the wind and rain whilst no one sits inside. I had to have a heart monitor reading done 4 times due to the surgery losing my readings. I also had a physical condition misdiagnosed as the GP refused to listen to me fully. It is unbelievably hard to get through by phone and the receptionists are very very rude.
Very good and helpful.
Long wait times to get through to receptionists Receptionists asking what you need an appointment for - this should be private and confidential between patient and GP and receptionists should not be evaluating urgency or importance. Hard to get a telephone triage phone call back as they ‘run out’ very quickly leaving no alternative for that day. Cannot see a doctor only get a telephone call. Telephone calls not appropriate in all cases. Son hurt ankle and was sent to a and e even though it was not an emergency. Care during my pregnancy and after birth was non existent and relied upon me to make appointments eg for flu jab during pregnancy (they never got back to me luckily a midwife got it done for me whilst I attended another appt) post natal checks didn’t happen, waited months for post pregnancy contraceptive coil fitting. Vaccinations for baby were good, all on time. I moved surgeries as a result.
Terrible reception staff very uncaring.
Can not get appointments.
It takes quite often 45 minutes to get through to reception then if you are lucky you may get a telephone conversation with a doctor in about 3 or 4 weeks time.
Very difficult to get through on phone and then told no appointments available. If you do finally get through on phone they have been very good and did do face to face when necessary.
I always find all the staff, nurses and doctors to be polite and helpful.
Pre Covid it was pretty good. Since covid it has utterly and totally lost the plot!!
Although difficult to get an appointment surgery I seem to be able to get the service I need at the time.
When I’ve been able to get an appointment I have always received very good care it’s often very difficult to get appointments though.
Very long waits on the phone.
Absolutely dreadful - although nothing much worse than normal; when attempting to secure an appointment. In 10 years of being at this surgery, I can count on one hand the amount of appointments that I've had! It is almost impossible to secure an appointment on-line, more so recently. Forcing me to resort to using the antiquated telephone service, calling at 8.30 am on the dot waiting on hold for 55 mins, only to be told there are up to full capacity and suggest I contact 111, upon doing so, they referred me back to the surgery with a instruction that I needed a Dr allocation within 2 hrs, another 40 minutes wait on the phone, to be told not possible and referred me back to NHS (quite unbelievable) Eventually, the receptionist offered me the Badger Clinic contact details (who were absolutely fabulous and most accommodating. I had reason to also contact the surgery for results for an Ultrasound - this time i was keep waiting 1.5 hours on one day and then 60 minutes the following day!
Haven’t had a great experience. When I’ve needed referral from my GP as recommended by FTB, I have found they are dismissive. Stereotyping and not fully understanding of my situation. Staff may need some training around Autism awareness.
Hi I was with this practice for over 20 years. I moved to Mallorca three and a half years ago and have a super doctor over here, however, have never received electronically my medical records. How do I go about this as there is no email address for this surgery?
