"Not really any help"
I have been under their care for 5 years. They agree that I need help and that I have multiple problems but they have also more or less told me and my family that they don't know how they can help and that maybe I need help from other services and not them.
"Not a great help"
I do not feel like I have benefited from the mental health services at Small Heath Health Centre. It is also expensive for me to travel there by public transport which is a real concern when you are on a low income and have mental health conditions.
"Help with my mental health"
They're okay with mental health. I have been with them a long long time. They help and see me when i need them for my mental health.
"The good ones leave"
All the good people leave. My old one was marvellous.
"I didn't even go, I didn't care"
I didn't go to my last appointment. I didn't care. I was given a misdiagnosis. I told the psychiatrist I think I have ADHD but I wasn't listened to or believed.
"Don't feel safe there!"
They're very bad. I can't see a psychiatrist, you get attacked in the waiting room. I asked for a transfer to the Solihull Team last year and but not heard anything. I don't feel safe there and brings back bad memories when I go there. I find it hard to go there to get my medication, they say they leave it at reception and the receptionists give you a hard time trying to get it. They're not good at all.
"Really good and fast at diagnosing"
Really good. He was the one that as soon as son walked through the door he said he has ADHD . This is where he was diagnosed. They were quick with the paperwork and the doctor was really helpful and supportive.
"I like talking to them. They're very nice."
I see a psychiatrist there every 3 months and I'm under a consultant. They're very nice people and I like talking to them. They are very understanding and ask the right questions and I answer them honestly.
"They see me every month"
Had Blood tests and they give me medication for my mental health. They arranged for me to see them every month.
"I had my CPN took off me."
I am under mental health at Small Heath and I've not had the best time with them. I had my CPN took off me being told. I struggle to get prescriptions on time. I only get 10 minutes every 6 months and I don't feel that this is long enough. I was forced to go private and I couldn't afford it but I got the help I needed.
"Helpful and approachable"
Nurses and midwives are very helpful and approachable.
"Long wait on the phone"
Long wait on the phone but NHS app is very good. Doctors calls back within 24 hours.
"Discharged from the service - not informed"
I was discharged from the service and wasn't informed. They told me to call them on the crisis line when I was having any issues but they said they couldn't help me as I'd been discharged.
"Friendly - mishap with appointment"
Really good, really friendly. Had a mishap with the naming as someone was there with a very similar name to me for their appointment, they called me instead of the other person and they ended up missing their appointment.
"Waiting for referral"
They don’t tend to listen and don’t get appointments when you need it. Waiting for referral from doctor but can’t see him.
"They are helpful"
When I go there they are very helpful. They give me food.
"Very difficult to contact by phone"
Very difficult to contact by phone, generally waiting over 20 minutes to get answered. This is the only way to contact them.
"I can see the GP for any serious issue"
I can see the GP for any serious issue otherwise its telephone appointment only.
"very unprofessional"
they kept transferring me to different people for me to simply discuss moving an appointment. The reception seems very unorganised. When I did have an appointment, the person didn't introduce who they were to me as I was supposed to be assessed by a psychiatrist. They also apologised and were taking personal calls during the meeting. They also didn't have the resources to assess me and kept having to look for lost resources. They also told me they would contact me back but they didn't, instead I had to contact them a week later for them to tell me they had discharged me!
"Outstanding"
Outstanding
"Extremely poor"
The Small Heath CMHT is extremely poor offers no help or treatment for a serious and self harming mentally ill patient. They are uncaring, arrogant, callous and unprofessional, giving mental health care to a very bad reputation. Senior management are good once you can get to them, but they need to seriously improve their organisation.
"Very bad"
Uncaring, unprofessional and incompetent. Offer no help or treatment for months to a seriously ill patient. Patient views and wishes ignored. When treatment was offered it was wrong, bordering on dangerous. Refused reasonable requests to change consultant. Bulldozed patient requests and treated patient with contempt. Lied in clinical records to clear themselves of blame. Avoid at all costs. Should be closed down. Disgrace to Birmingham and NHS.
"Sickening HellHole"
Every time I attend I experience a dreadful time at this place. The cleaning lady with blonde hair does nothing but make fun of patients behind their backs along with the security guard..laughing and having their music on high which is not professional. Some of the receptionists don't seem to understand English to well as I have to repeat half a dozen times and they say they have told the Dr/nurse patients are there but an hour later we find they never told them at all. This place needs an overall with training as ATM the place is a joke.Even a few of the nurses speak in an abrupt manner to mentally ill people, psychiatrists haven't a clue what they are talking about and are downright dangerous with some of their choices in medicines to prescribe. The list goes on but I shall stop here. Please if a professional is reading this then please please have this place looked at.
"Overall a good service"
Overall a good service. They have cared for our daughter during her years of mental health treatment. She no longer visits Chapman road.
"Negligent doctors and negligent manager"
I don't know what else to do in a situation that has hurt and harmed me deeply, I trusted these doctors to not put me at risk, of harm, and they did, they caused me to relapse because of their evil behaviour, rather than keep me well.
I know the manager doesn't care about my feelings or the facts in general, because if he did, those doctors working there would be reported to the GMC by now, I know I can't trust the manager to do his job, considering he is also responsible for why safeguarding measures at this service are weak, and why I nearly ended up dying because of these negligent doctors. If the manager thinks he can try and silence me, because he wants to protect the evil over patients serious concerns and safety, he can dream on, when I do get better mentally, I will bring you all to account, for the way you have treated me, and hopefully most of you will face the consequence for your evil. I get a better service from my own gp, who saved my life, because of your evil doctors, than my own mental health team, I just wanted to let the manager know, that you've messed with the wrong person, I'll look forward to speaking with PALS soon. To explain the evil that exists at this service. And to hopefully get the right level of care and accountability that I deserve. And as a final warning, don't think I won't go to NHS England, and speak with them too, and the CQC.
"They are helping me"
Go to Chapman Road every 4 months for mental health. They are listening, they are helping me. I liked it I choose it there. To talk to you is very important. I have to wait for the Doctor to give me an appointment, don't have capacity to book - they send for me
Thank you for your feedback, it is good to know. We will pass your thanks on to the team at Chapman Road.
"severe lack of empathy"
psychiatrist lack compassion they dont much care for your wellbeing. I do not know how to raise awareness of the poor quality of care which is meted out at this health centre.
We are sorry to hear your feedback regarding our Small Heath team. We would very much like to hear from you and take some more details from you. Could you call our Customer Relations team on 0800 953 0045 and they will be able to ensure that we can give you the best possible care.
"Poor mental health management"
How can you allow a paranoid schizophrenic patient be without medication for two and half years.
Please contact our Customer Relations team on 0800 953 0045 so that they can take some more details and investigate this matter for you. Alternatively you may wish to visit your GP to discuss things. They can make referrals to our teams.
"Mixed Review"
Same Doctor all the time, always provide me with everything I need. I went there with stomach pain and they said come back in 2 weeks but I needed to see them than.
Many thanks for your feedback. We would always recommend seeing your GP as soon as possible for physical health issues but if the issues relate to your care or treatment with our services then do ask for the Duty Worker. They are available at our Small Heath Centre Mondays to Fridays 9am to 5pm except holiday periods.
"Good doctor but poor CPN"
Doctor here is very helpful and involves me in everything, very happy, but CPN is very rude and ignorant, she never gets back to me or my support worker.
We are pleased that you are happy with your doctor at our Small Heath Centre. Would you be able to contact our Customer Relations team on 0800 953 0045 to discuss the issues with your CPN. We can liaise with the team manager in order to resolve this for you.
"Not happy"
They want to put me on high medication but I just want to do activities so I don't just take medication. Food is unhealthy when you're trying to be more healthy, it's not good.
I was not happy with they way they said that I can only go there once a week as I need more activities and support.
We are sorry that you weren't offered enough activities. We do have a day hospital at Small Heath Centre but we also work with community services to provide a range of options. Please contact our Customer Relations team on 0800 953 0045 if you would like help in liaising with your doctor or nurse. They may also be able to suggest an advocate to help you from POhWER advocacy.
