"The doctors are very good"
I have experienced difficulties getting an appointment but the doctors are very good. They made a referral for me when needed. There was not much that they could do to treat me while I was waiting for my hospital appointment.
"The service seems to be getting worse"
The service seems to be getting worse. I am unable to use the online system I just cannot do it at my age. It's a real pain being sent to different surgeries all over Solihull when your surgery is on your doorstep. I have waited 5 weeks for today's appointment. I am visiting about a pre-existing condition that a doctor has already been treating me for. They told me that if I had any problems to book back in with them. I have been unable to book an appointment with that doctor despite my request and the doctor specifying that I go back to them. That doctor knows me and knows my medical history it would have made more sense for them to allocate me an appointment with him. The service has lost the personal touch it once had. It is very disappointing that things seem to be getting worse and worse.
"New online system is working well"
The new online system is very good. It has been much easier to get appointments. The doctors are good, they are very thorough and helpful, and have arranged follow up appointments for me with the nurse.
"A good surgery but send me all over"
I am often sent to Grove Surgery for appointments which is not local to me and I have to travel on two buses, which I find difficult at my age. They need to consider locality when booking appointments for people.
"Online system stops me using them"
I am supposed to book online but it's awkward and it stops me making one.
"Appointment system and consistency could improve"
I sometimes find it difficult to get appointments here. I'm not good at explaining things over the phone and don't stress the severity of things. I have been with them for over 40 years though and the doctors are good. I see a different one every time though and with my dementia I need consistency and to see someone who has the full picture.
"Lack of information available"
There is a lack of understanding for older people regarding appointment times, accessibility and distance of the appointments given by SHP.
"Pleased with quick referral"
I attended the surgery with some concerns about possible angina. The doctor was thorough and listened to me. They made a referral to a cardiologist. I was very pleased with the service I received.
"Called me back at the weekend"
I phoned the surgery on a Monday to get an appointment. I got a call back where they took my details and said I would be contacted I did not receive a call until Saturday from a withheld number. I found this quite strange and was hesitant to answer and unknown number, luckily I did. I then had to wait another 4 weeks for my appointment. The service provided is disappointing.
"A Marvellous Service Provider"
SHP in general have been marvellous. I feel like they have always bent over backwards. I have home visits from GPs and can always speak to someone who can help when I call the surgery.
"Very good receptionists and doctors"
The staff, receptionists and doctors are all very good. I never see the same doctor twice but they have all been good so I have no complaints. It is normal to be seen 5 to 10 minutes late but during my most recent visit the waiting times were terrible and I was waiting for over 30 minutes.
"Very nice"
Very nice, it can be difficult to get appointments as they're so busy. You can wait a day or two for an appointment to become available because they are so busy.
"Access is a problem"
The surgery is very busy and demand for appointments is high. The phone lines are always extremely busy and you can be holding for nearly an hour. I recently filled out the triage form to make medication changes for my parent, who I care for, and I did not hear from the surgery for two days. I don't think that this is acceptable. The doctors are very good when you see them, seeing them is the hard part!
"Happy with GP once I see them"
The service provided is fine but there are long waits for routine appointments of up to three weeks. I am happy with the GPs once I am seen.
"Long wait for appointments"
It takes a long time to get appointments. I waited a few weeks for my last appointment. There are never any same day appointments available when you call to book. The staff try to be helpful but you can tell they are under a lot of stress trying to accommodate people. When I last called the surgery I spoke to a male care navigator who asked me what my concern was. I did not wish to discuss my menopause concerns with a male member of staff.
"Awful access and hit and miss care"
They are terrible. Trying to get an appointment is awful, when I recently tried to get in they told me there was nothing they could do. The care is hit and miss too but most of the doctors are okay.
"As an asthmatic they tell me to go to A&E"
Lack of access to GP services has been very worrying for me as an SHP/Grove Road patient. If I have a flare up and contact the surgery for an appointment they tell me to go to A&E. I don't think that these flare ups warrant an A&E visit and I feel like they are just fobbing me off. I find it hard to get help, support or advice from them.
"Access and communication problems"
It is very difficult to get an appointment and communication is very poor. I have waited over 4 weeks for blood test results, they tell you to book an appointment to discuss results but you can't book an appointment because there is never any availability. I find the whole system completely ridiculous! I can never see my own doctor. The service provided has really gone down hill.
"It's all going to pot!"
I have experienced great difficulty getting an appointment. If I phone the surgery it's not too bad but I have to wait one to two weeks for an appointment. I can only get an urgent appointment if my partner comes to the surgery in person and kicks up a fuss.
"Not easy to get an appointment"
It's not easy to get appointments and I find the system pretty poor. The GPs are fine when you get to see them face to face. I have been unable to use the online booking form and it's difficult to get an appointment after 8am by calling the surgery.
"The doctors are good"
I phoned the surgery for an appointment and had to wait two days to be seen. When attending the appointment I waited nearly an hour past the appointment time to see the doctor. The doctors at Grove Surgery are very good but I see a different doctor every time making appointments feel less personal and meaning that you have to talk through your issues at length to explain things which takes up a lot of the appointment time.
"No access problems and good doctors"
My experience of Grove Surgery and SHP has been good. I can get appointments when I need one and the doctors are good.
"Good diabetes nurse"
I have annual diabetes check ups with the nurse and my experience is generally good.
"A poor service that is hard to access"
The service provided is poor with access being very difficult. I have experienced difficulties with the online triage form. I attended the surgery in person to book an appointment but the receptionist told me that I had to book on via the app and refused to help me. On another visit I attended the surgery to hand in a specimen and the queue to reception was huge. Despite being two desks only one person was at a desk and I queued 40 minutes to hand over a specimen which is ridiculous.
"Appointment booking is fast and easy"
They test with everything. I book appointments online and they are fast in getting back to me, and they give appointments to suit my needs.
"No problems and new online system seems okay"
I have no problems with them. The new online system seems to be working okay and the doctors are very good once you're in. I also have no problems getting my repeat prescriptions sorted.
"Hardly any issues"
I have no issues apart from one small blip with the communication recently. I don't go often but when I need an appointment I get one.
"Not easy to get in but brilliant doctors"
It isn't easy to get appointments here but when you do the doctors are brilliant.
"No appointments available"
They aren't good at all. There are no appointments available but when you go in it's completely empty. Digital access is very hard for me. I've been trying to get blood test results and the receptionist showed me and tried to help but I have still been unable to access them. It's a struggle and no good for elderly people. The doctors are fine, I have no complaints it's just getting in to see them that's the issue.
"Improvements have been made to the service."
There seemed to be an real issue about a year or so ago but it seems to have gotten better and easier to get an appointment. Wait times to speak to someone are slot shorter. the triage service has improved whereas before it seemed impossible.
"You can only access them by phone."
Poor as you can only access them by phoning. Long waits on the phone. They tell you to not come in to to book appointments over the phone. You can wait up to an hour. They don't have an online system.
