Very satisfied.
I can't rate them highly enough with the care they provide. They don't do an online service for booking GP appointments but I can request repeat prescriptions. The GP will come out and do home visits.
A very good GP, as you can get same day appointments.
I was seen promptly and referred to secondary care specialist. My GP always listens to me and makes me seem valued.
I call at 8am and I'm in the queue. I always ask for the same doctor. She is good at referrals and they even do a Saturday now to fit you in.
You can walk up at 8am and by 8:15am they let you in and you can book a same day appointment. I see the same GP. He has a lot of time for me.
Making you use the internet to get an appointment. They're hard to get but before covid they were good.
A good surgery.
When you get through you're 48 in the queue. The doctors are really good and I feel listened to.
When I needed them I have rang and got an appointment. They also prescribed me medication that they shouldn't have but sorted it.
My GP is very prompt and gives results quickly. They also provide me with all information needed about my health. They are brilliant.
I can get same day appointments and face to face. My nan and family have all been with them for many years. Good communication and very helpful.
Never have an issue with the two GPs I usually see and the receptionists are very professional
I was waiting to be seen at desk she been on the phone 15 min. Just said do not lean against wall after waiting 15 minutes in a loud voice
Longer waits for appointments but staff were friendly and helpful once I could get an appointment.
Really rubbish. Never pick up, they're useless. They fobbed me off so I changed GP surgery.
They are okay. My mom sorts the appointments out but I have never seen a bad doctor or nurse. They are usually really nice and listen to me. They talk to me so I will understand and not like doctor talk.
They don't answer the phones in the morning so then you have to keep waiting in a queue. You can get a same day appointment but I have to send the kids to school then take them out when you finally get an appointment.
A very good GP. I'm very happy with them as they give me appointments and are very helpful.
Very good. I can always get an appointment when I call which is very good.
They're brilliant, they even run weekend surgeries which works great for me.
The GP referred onto Hobmoor a few years ago for my husband. I have no issues with them.
You can queue outside of the surgery and get an appointment the same day at 8:30am. They have a message on the phone saying if you call after 9am you may not get an appointment but they will always try.
Be useful if they would allow online booking. Instead you have to call first thing to try and get an appointment. They are okay. I'm not fussed who I see.
I rarely see them. I see the specialist nurse as I need an injection every 3 months. They arrange that and it's always on time.
Here's the most recent example: after 2 years on waiting list, I was finally given a phone appointment with Pain Management Clinic at the hospital It was on the 15th of July and it went OK, the consultant said I need few further referrals and a change of medication, and that my GP will contact me within 2 weeks. After waiting to hear from GP for 6 weeks, I contacted my practice to find out that they are not aware of my dealings with Pain Management Clinic, as they received nothing from the hospital.
After days of failed attempts to get in touch with the Clinic, I have finally got on phone a secretary of a consultant that I spoke to. She told me that doctor has written a letter to my GP, but the letter hasn't been sent, as it's waiting for a signature.
She couldn't say if this will happen before Christmas or in the new year, but she assured me that once signed, the letter will be electronically sent to my GP.
The GPs are very good. We never had any issues with them. I can easily get appointments when you call first thing, no messing around or waiting too long.
I've only been twice and they have been okay. No problems getting appointments if you ring first thing, you can usually get one the same day too.
They did a few checks on my 1 year old at the GP and it kept reoccurring so they said they would refer him on to ENT. Which they did. They didn't explain how long the referral would take.
Very good, no struggle there. I can get appointments easily. The midwife there is excellent and the same one I see so good continuity of care.
They ask me what I think the issue is and how I think it should be treated whilst googling my symptoms.
Appointments aren't always available. It's not possible to book one in advance, The waiting time is always long. If I miss the appointment time and I'm late they tell me to go to the hospital.
I can never get an appointment with them. If I call at 8:15 , I can guarantee I will 47th in the queue. When you get through, there are no appointments left. I had a bad chest infection and have asthma. I have also had pneumonia and they still wouldn't give me an appointment.
I have always received a 5 star service from the surgery.
Terrible. No engagement especially from the midwife. No communication with the midwife or the GP. Didn't see the midwife until I was 26 weeks pregnant.
I think it's the same here as everywhere. No available doctors and no appointments. Long waits. It's not their fault and they're good when you do get to see them or get through to them. They can only try their best.
They don't give advanced appointments. You wait ages on the phone then there is no appointments left. You just end up with a big phone bill. It's so impossible sometimes.
The GP will only see you for one thing and that's it. It long waits to get an appointment and then when you get through there aren't any left. I have often relied on 111 to try and get advice or I'll try the pharmacy.
The GP is excellent but its very difficult to reach him. Most of the time prescriptions are not sent to the pharmacy on time.
I am reviewed 6 monthly by phone or face to face by outreach team - consultant nurse dietician. Bloods feet weight at GP surgery.
Nightmare to get hold of. They don't have a dedicated doctor no more. Call them at 8am and 8:45 and no appointments left.
Receptionists are gate keepers. I need an appointment for a review for diabetes and they tell me there's nothing available so they tell me to book online when I don't use the internet. You go into the surgery and there's no-one there. Waste of time and makes you want to give up.
Nightmare getting an appointment. You ring up and they have no appointments available. I just keep ringing each day until I get one.
Always get in when I need to, doesn't take too long on the phone. Not always same day appointment, it depends on the issue whether its face to face or on the phone. I prefer a female doctor but if one isn't available I'll see whoever.
They provide interpreters for appointments, and have appointments available too.
The diabetic nurse has been fine, but I have been trying to get blood tests. They have cancelled one of my appointments and rearranged it for August. They did however see me for an appointment and I was seen early.
I've been having problems with my legs and had to have some investigations done. All appointments I've needed have been made in good time and the interpreters they book are good. The doctor is also very good.
The same everywhere can never get in. Once you are in the doctors are nice. Doctors referred to hospital and was seen quickly by the doctor. And she was very nice consultant.
The service has definitely changed post-Covid. It is more difficult to get an appointment (mad rush at 8:15 to be 40th in the queue), pre-bookables seem non existent and a request to see a specific doctor is almost impossible. Had no support to discuss some key issues - including the potential for HRT.
Shut me off left me hanging no helping me. They're a load of nonsense, they're no help to me.
Can get a call back from surgery. Had chicken pox recently and fetched me up there.
Typical for there to be a 40 person queue in the morning, if you call in the afternoon expect to wait in a 10 person queue only to be hung up on. Clearly suffers from poor management and is understaffed, not fit for purpose. Not everybody has the time in their day to wait 40 minutes on the phone in order to get a doctors appointment or blood test results.
Don’t really have to use it that often. Got Covid vaccination there. Can’t get an appointment.
Our surgery is reasonably easy to contact and get an appointment. The telephone service to get an appointment is difficult but can usually get an appointment. They offer face to face and telephone appointments.
I had a very bad chest infection and had 3 face to face appointments with my doctor who gave me excellent treatment as usual.
Excellent service, easy to get appointments. My daughter books it for me.
Most of the appointments were on telephone but still I was able to have two emergency face to face appointments.
Always difficult to get an appointment.
Covid has changed things there. I’ve been a patient for many years and recently the care has changed and not for the better
Fabulous surgery with excellent staff
I am disappointed to read this review. Poplars Surgery have vaccinated thousands of patients during this testing pandemic. We have continued to see patients face to face when required and have given protection against flu for thousands during the past month. My staff are exhausted. I am seriously left wondering just how much more we can give.
The service is very good, Receptionists always helpful.
Been trying to get a face to face appointment with a female doctor fir two months or more I need help with incontinence Receptionists are zero help
Good experience
I have been a patient at this surgery for nearly thirty years now and have never received anything but the utmost professional, courteous and efficient care throughout this period.
Not that good what it should be.
I had a telephone appointment to deal with sleep problems. The doctor was patient and happy to chat for up to 10 minutes about my problems and go through detailed advice sympathetically. This contrasted with another doctor from the same practice who, via telephone appointment, seemed less interested in my fleeting chest pains and made the conversation very short, leaving dissatisfied with the service.
Very good service made me feel in safe hands and answered questions I had.
Very efficient service for both vaccinations. Well ordered queue, in and out very quickly.
Absolutely fantastic service, very friendly and welcoming. Very accommodating and I felt well informed of everything that was happening.
Excellent
Generally the service at this surgery is excellent however given that the country has now commenced lifting restrictions I can't understand why it is still only possible to have triage appointments before face to face appointment is allowed This applies to all GP practices
Very good, responsive service. Would sometimes like to see a Dr, rather than filling in forms.
I have been with this surgery for over 40 years. It has excellent doctors, nurses and receptionists. My care has always been of the highest standard.
Have used them since 1975 when we came to Birmingham when my husband finished his time in the Royal Navy. I have had my second child through their GP service and also several operations like knee replacement, with excellent after care.
Excellent experience during lockdown. Telephone consultations have been efficient and effective. Sorting out issues in a timely way.
Good experience
My experience of populars surgery has been amazing could not ask for a better doctors.
The doctors and nurses are good, I think, but the admin is poor. On the website recently the latest news post was 2018....the annual Saturday flu injection session does not appear on there so you have to waste their time and yours ringing up. At the moment it says, quite rightly, don't come if you might have Covid, but no instructions or advice on seeing a doctor or what to expect. If you ring, the receptionists seem to regard that as a nuisance. Recently I took in a requested sample for a friend, and the 'senior receptionist' was actually rude. I am sure their job is not easy (reception never is) but one of the things you are paid for is to be polite and pleasant. I do think both these things let down what is otherwise a good practice in my experience.
Dear Health Watch
I wanted to pass through my thanks and compliments to my Dr. Having recently being diagnosed with cancer I have found it extremely difficult to get my pain managed via the consultant. My Dr has been nothing short of brilliant both in terms both his prescribing and his communication with me and my family.
He has gone way beyond my expectations of a GP and has had to recently contact my consultant to ensure my hospital stay was more comfortable. During this difficult time for me and my family my Dr has allowed us to focus on the important things ensuring all things medical are not a source of further stress.
Regards
Steve Sanger
Sent by universal credit to this surgery to get a note to say I am sick but they wanted to charge for a sick note. I couldn’t pay as had no money so as a result I got my rent paid but no universal credit. I didn’t get to see a doctor it was the receptionist that told me. Receptionist was having a bad day, didn’t help me but I let it go. Just booking me for an appointment would have helped.
