"Review on care home"

My father-in-law is resident and we as a family couldn’t be more happier and content at the care he receives, from the management, careers, to the domestics they give full 100% care , the home is spotless, we as a family feel content and relaxed knowing he is being cared for with love even though we visit every day we still need the reassurance after we’ve gone that he’s being properly looked after and we 100% are happy , I’d like to thank everyone who member of staff. Thankyou.

"Carers go above and beyond"

My father is presently at Perry tree care home, hand on my heart I feel the carers go above and beyond, the home is spotlessly clean, and they go out of their way to make him and other residents happy. We visit every day and it’s nice to see residents with a smile on their faces not just sitting there it makes us as a family feel relaxed knowing he is being well looked after. I must admit if and I truly hope we never have to move him we will never find a home with the same high standards as is at Perry tree thank you to all staff and management

"It has been a lifeline"

We weren't told about this but glad we eventually found out as the help and information from them has been a lifeline. They also told us we can call an ambulance if we need home treatment which is great and saves the long waits in A&E especially with heart conditions.

"They could do with more activities."

Mom likes it here and we as a family do too. Mom is well cared for. The only thing I would say is they don't do enough things to get them out of their rooms. They could do more activities with them. It's nice today as it gets mom out to see people and she's enjoyed herself. They need to utilise the community space more.

I came in last Thursday and have been very well cared for. The staff are very very good. Very helpful and very friendly. They always pass the time of day and have a little joke. The lads are all as friendly as the girls.

"There is a language barrier here."

She came here and has her own room to herself. They are short staffed. There is a language barrier for mom and also has to wait to go to the toilet as mom is not mobile. She's been here 5 days.

"Always a welcoming and pleasant Home."

My Mother became a resident of Perry Tree Care Centre in 2016. During this time my mother was very well looked after in the following ways:

Professionalism – Always a welcoming and pleasant residential home to visit. In regard to communication, the staff always responded to me in a timely manner and demonstrated that they were proactive in following through on actions agreed.
There was a positive attitude and willingness to explore alternative ways in resolving issues.

Personal Care – The values, religion, culture and care needs were reflected in my mother’s care plan and taken into consideration. Decisions were always made in her best interests, and her skin integrity was maintained to a high standard.
Regular care reviews were undertaken to ensure continuity with all healthcare professionals involved.

Manual Handling – Assessment and reviews were conducted regularly and tailored to my mother’s needs to ensure that her dignity was maintained, and to prevent risk of injury and discomfort. This also ensured the key principles of manual handling.

Infection Control – During the pandemic of 2020, my mother was so well looked after, she did not contract the covid-19 virus at any point.

Social Interaction – Perry Trees was a home from home. In honour of the 75th VE day we had the pleasure of attending the celebrations at Perry Trees. It was a well organised, socially distanced commemorative event.

A special thank you to the manager for his creativity and vision and the staff of Perry Tree Care Centre.

"Poor care delivered rude staff"

Poor care little activities
Clean place shame about delivering quality care
my mother was regularly often left in own urine and feaces
My mother has been admitted into hospital 5 times in 3 months due to neglect

Most residents are left in thier rooms don't be fooled by nice surroundings all a front
Complaints ignored by Management
Staff do what they want often sitting around doing as least as possible
If you value your loved believe what I have reported its really bad its like going onto a controlled environment not like a residential home it doesn't feel natural environment

"Caring, Clean, professional & well managed"

My lovely mom was in this home for over 6 years. During that time she was so well cared for. She was kept clean, the food and drinks are very good, she had a lovely room and bathroom looking out onto the garden. There are plenty of activities including days out that people can engage in.
We had a telephone put into her room so we/she could phone one another as well as regularly visiting her. I loved the fact she was treated as an individual, they cater for your ethnicity and background, likes and dislike. The staff are so hardworking and DESERVE TO BE BETTER PAID THAN THEY ARE!!! They kept the home so safe through COVID at a risk to their own health/lives during a most difficult time. My lovely mom passed away recently at 90 yrs of age. We couldn't have found a better home to care for her and are so glad they had a place for her.
THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH TO ALL THE CARE TEAM.
YOU ARE A CREDIT TO YOUR PROFESSION.

"Perry Trees is a well run care home"

Staff are very kind and caring and many go the extra mile. My mother's physical needs are very well catered for but mental health support is not as good as it could be. My mother enjoys the video call arrangement when this is possible. One big negative for this home is the lack of provision for loved ones to speak on the telephone. It's often difficult getting through and i have felt this could be improved.
The home must address these needs and understand that speaking to family and loved ones is a human right and so important for mental health and wellbeing.

"Excellent skills with a difficult situation"

My mom has had to go into residential care due to the fact I have an incurable cancer. My mom has dementia. Management & staff made the transition from leaving her home to Perry Tree effortless. Due to COVID restrictions still being in place when she entered, staff handled my mom with such caring ways and compassion. She has settled in and is very happy. I feel that my mom is well looked after by all at Perry Tree. I'm kept informed on a regular basis with all matters concerning my mom. Also what's going on within the establishment. Well done to all management & staff at The Perry Tree. I would recommend Perry Tree to anyone considering looking for care for nearest and dearest. A happy environment for all.

"The celebtation of my mother's 100th birthday"

Yesterday, was my mother's 100th birthday. She is a resident at the Perry Tree Centre, Kingstanding, Birmingham.
I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to all the staff there who took the time and effort to help us celebrate this momentous occasion.
The staff, led by the manager dressed up their day room for the celebrations, provided a buffet and gathered there with us, her family. They took the time to ensure that her achievement was fully recognised.
I know that at least two members of the care staff actually gave up their day off to help get my mother ready for her 'Big Day', and to help celebrate it with her.
My mother has late stage mixed dementia, and has been bedridden now since before the Covid19 pandemic took us into lockdown. She has been a resident at the Perry Tree Centre now for just over 5 years, and I cannot thank them enough for the continuing care and affection my mother has received from all who help look after her.
They have, without doubt, prolonged her life and made these last years far more comfortable for her

"Perry Tree Centre feels homely."

Perry Tree Centre feels homely and residents are treated like an extended family. The team at Perry Trees looked after my Dad so well during the 3 years that he lived there. It was always a great comfort to us to know that he was being cared for so well. My Mum and I have happy memories of our visits there, especially on their Diamond anniversary and we were always made to feel welcome and part of the 'family'.

"Outstanding care to residents and family"

I would like to thank staff at Perry Trees, especially the care home manager, for looking after my Mum so well when she visited my Dad recently for the first time in 13 months. Staff were professional and kind as they guided her through the Covid test process. It was wonderful that she was able to have a cup of tea with my Dad to celebrate their Diamond Wedding Anniversary. My Dad continues to be well cared for and it is reassuring that he is being cared for in such a wonderful place. Thank you.

"Very grateful that our Aunt was cared for by"

My sister and I would like to express our gratitude to the Team at the Perry Tree centre for their professionalism and care they showed our Aunt during almost eight years that she was in their care. Whenever we visited the centre we were always impressed with the cleanliness and cleaning staff were constantly cleaning to keep the high standard. The food always looked nice and was presented well. Most importantly we whitnessed the staff interactions with my Aunt when they were unaware that we were there and we always seen the staff showing care and kindness to her. We were also comforted that she passed away in familiar surroundings. The senior team were always accessible and happy to talk and answer any questions that we had. We wanted to express our thanks as the work of the wonderful staff at Perry Tree is appreciated by the residents and their families

"An outstanding, caring centre"

My mother has been a resident at The Perry Tree Centre for four and a half years. She is 99 years old and has quite advanced mixed dementia, and can be very difficult, both verbally and physically. Despite this the staff have taken all possible care of her since she moved in there. She is now bed bound, but they make time to spend with her and talk with her. This was happening before the advent of Covid19.
I haven't seen her since the start of lockdown, but I am given regular updates by the senior care staff as to her comfort and general health. I am able to phone them whenever I need to, and they contact me, also on a regular basis.
I cannot thank them enough for the time, effort and care shown to my mother since she has been there, and I cannot thank them enough on my behalf for the friendliness and inclusivity they have shown me and my family when we were able to visit. This extends from the Centre manager right through to the ancilliary staff. They are all superb.

"Excellent Home"

Visited the home as I was passing through the area. I wanted to see what service they provide for our locals. Was very impressed with the staff for their caring attitude and dedication towards the members. Staff very approachable and the quality and level of activities provided by staff for the residents was just amazing. I could see that the activities provided are well thought through in relation to the therapeutic benefits to the residents. I was most impressed with the range of things that the residents were able to participate in. I was not able to see the residents due to the restrictions but was shown pictorial evidence with many residents happily enjoying the interaction between the staff and the activities inhouse which I felt was breath taking.

I just wanted to let you know and to give credit to the team where credit is due, as far too often little things go unnoticed. As a society we are always quick to complain when things are not going right so just wanted to show my appreciation to the staff for their patience enthusiasm and due diligence in looking after the residents in such nice caring a way. Providing stimulation and purpose for the residents.
Liked the idea of the hens laying eggs so the residents can have fresh eggs to eat. That is so lovely and the home having the ducks and other animals is quite a nice unique touch which am sure the residents benefit positively from.
Excellent environment ! so welcoming. Was refreshing to see. Thanks to the staff!

"Heath and Wellbeing session"

It was a pleasure to be invited to be part of ‘focus on health and wellbeing ’ organised by the manager for staff and citizens. After a successful Zoom presentation , I attended the centre by arrangement on Tuesday 25th August.

It was an exciting afternoon, those attending were able to experience a fabulous luxury hand treatment, (so essential to combat all the extra hand washing caused by the pandemic ) information was offered on avoiding skin problems (again, because of wearing a face mask and breathing all the warm moist air back onto the face. These conditions create an ideal breeding ground for skin problems, including acne) and, general advice on keeping the skin clean and healthy. The staff were engaged whilst maintaining social distancing, and were properly dressed in their PPE.

It is so important to feel good, especially during these difficult times, and to have quality ‘me time’ just 10-15 mins a day massaging the face, or hands, makes such a difference to the feeling of well being .

Thank you Perry Tree for the opportunity, and also for the super organic eggs provided by the citizens as part of their pet therapy initiative, I was totally spoilt!!.

Looking forward to the next opportunity.

"RESIDENTS KEPT SAFE DURING COVID 19 PANDEMIC"

My mom has been a resident at the Perry Tree Centre for over two and a half years.
She has been so well looked after during this time. But the Manager & his team should be particularly commended during this Covid 19 Pandemic period of time, for keeping ALL of the residents safe from the virus. Through what has been an unprecedented, very difficult time. Their hard work & professionalism has meant that our Mom is well & safe, which is a great relief for us. ????

"V.E Day celebrations were a great success!"

It was great to see my mother and other residents outside enjoying the party atmosphere. Although we had to social distance ourselves from the residents we were still able to have good conversations with them all.
Due to the stress of social distancing guidelines both for residents and their families, it would be much appreciated if such type of gatherings/events were held periodically to improve the mental health of all involved .

"VE Day Perry Trees Drive Through"

In honour of the seventy-fifth anniversary of VE Day, I had the pleasure of attending the celebrations at the Perry Trees Care Home in Kingstanding. It was a socially-distanced commemorative event however, we had beautiful sunshine. The bank holiday was celebrated by both staff, residents and their families. The car park was utilised, families remained in their vehicles at all times and drove around the one way system, stopping intermittently to wave and speak to the residents and staff through their car windows.

A minute silence was observed at 11 o'clock, then the car park was opened and vehicles were beaconed to drive through in a orderly fashion. The residents and staff waved their union jack flags, the building was decorated in red, white and blue bunting. It was a wonderful atmosphere, the residents sang along to Vera Lynn's iconic WW2 song "We'll Meet Again" to mark the occasion. The quarantine did not prevent the residents and staff celebrating this special occasion. The spirit of all who were present was captured.

I would like to commend the staff who have cared for my my mother for a number of years and continue to go above and beyond for the residents.

A special thank you to the Manager for his creativity and vision for Perry Trees. He continues to find ways of bringing families together through this difficult time, which was demonstrated through the joyous VE Day celebrations.

Well done Perry Trees! (Until we meet again ....)

"Attended the Perry Tree Drive through VE Day"

On Friday 8th May I attended the Perry Tree Drive through, which celebrated the 75th Anniversary of VE Day.

Upon my arrival, I was immediately impressed at how well organised & safely coordinated the plan was implemented during this time of social distancing due to Covid-19. I was the first to arrive and was welcomed into the car park by the Service Manager at exactly 11am as planned. The residents were transported outside of the building in wheelchairs by the staff so that they could see their relatives as they drove through the car park. There were also some lovely VE Day decorations/bunting placed outside and drinks for the residents.

The staff & residents were all very well dressed. My Grandmother looked lovely & happy. The weather was also sunny & bright which assisted with the smooth running of the event.

I was most impressed by Perry Trees thoughtfulness and efforts in trying to ensure that their residents maintain a close connection with their relatives by providing such an opportunity during this difficult time. I have not heard of many residential homes across the country offering anything similar. Therefore as a family we feel very blessed & privileged to have been able to do this.

"Professional, informative & courteous welcome"

Good evening, On behalf of my family, we would like to take this opportunity to thank you and your staff for the welcoming preparations you organised for our mom. Loving the heart, cuddly teddy, Barbadian flag and picture, and the rainbow which Biblically represents the promise between God and us, his children, as well as an acknowledgement to all those who care for the sick, our senior folk, and those in need. Clearly, they demonstrate love, selflessness and courage and much needed community spirit. We can see that mom's settling well and it's truly because you're a genuinely caring professional, who leads a team of staff who have exhibited care and diligence in what has been an anxious time for the family, allaying our fears. Mom feels well taken care of. Stay safe and blessed always.

"A superb establishment for our Mum."

Mum has been in the care of Perry Tree Care Home for just over 6months. It took mum a short while to settle in and adjust to the new faces around her, which was expected. The PT team is caring and before mum joining them, the PT team asked about her likes/dislikes, her family then/now etc. Several months on we have found the PT team know about mum and readily get in touch and update us with anything pertaining to her. We are well informed and happy with the care and communication they have with us.
In these extraordinary times today, where we are encouraged not to visit, I was offered an alternative option to visiting in person ... to Skype mum. I happily took up their offer with this initiative. They emailed me a link to use and advised I called ahead for one of their available slots. Today I was able to see mum and communicate with her at PT. Thank you to the PT team, there are many to mention, but we say a massive 'Thank You' to the team as a whole.

"My grandmother loves it here"

Perry tree centre is one of the best facilities I have ever encountered, and I am very happy that my grandmother can reside there. All the staff are more than accommodating to my entire family and they treat my grandmother very well. I know she is very happy there and every time I come and see her, she tells me stories about her favourite members of staff. They find ways to assist her; that makes her comfortable but also helps with her needs, without belittling her or making her feel like a child.
They also keep us well informed on various events, new ways for her to regain some of her independence and any challenges she may be facing, and they work with us to find solutions. I cannot speak highly enough of every member of staff and I am very grateful for all they have done.

"Mum is in the best place she could be."

A broken hip and treatment in hospital after a fall, resulted in my Mum being placed in the NHS unit upstairs in the Perry Tree Centre. Whilst there she was well cared for and every effort was made to get her up and about again, we were very pleased with the level of care she received.
She wasn't going to be able to return to her looking after herself, in her flat, so we felt very lucky a place became available downstairs in the residential unit for her.
The whole facility itself is very secure, a visitor has to sign in, and be let into the residential unit. We were able to fill her room with her own things, photos, pictures, bed and furniture to make it as homely as possible. The facilities are excellent, and the place is consistently clean and tidy. The food is good and varied, a restaurant is available outside the unit, where you can take your loved one, or just have a meal yourself: always good food and value for money.
I have always been happy and never had any concerns with the quality of care my Mum has received. The staff are committed in what they do, and nothing is too much trouble, if you have any questions you can be certain a member of staff will go to great lengths to provide an answer.
My Mum celebrated her ninetieth birthday back in April, and we booked the function room for a family celebration. Every help was given to us to decorate the room, and the spread put on by the restaurant was nothing short of excellent. My Mum was overwhelmed by it all on the day.
Trips out are occasionally arranged and organised very well, which my Mum thoroughly enjoys.
I'd like to take this opportunity to thank all the staff at the Perry Tree Centre, for the tremendous efforts they go to in providing my Mum with a level of care second to none, and a caring environment that she thrives in. Thankyou.

"I did my student work experience placement."

On the 7th of May 2019, I started my work experience placement at the Perry Tree Centre and it was fantastic. I saw how the staff (who were amazing) treated the service users and how they went about their day. It was evident that they cared for them and wanted them to have the best possible experience at the center. I also saw how medicine was administrated to the service users and how their meals were prepared. The staff and the manager work hard day and night to ensure that they have the most comfortable time and they provide the patients with activities such as trips out and games to play inside. The NHS unit upstairs is also brilliant and they make sure that the patients are well looked after. Overall I would like to thank the manager for giving me a brilliant opportunity and experience and I would definitely recommend the Centre if anyone needed care or treatment!

"Mom has received very good, quality care!"

Mom has been at the Perry Tree Centre for 18 months now and during this time has received very good, quality care from the Manager and all his team of staff there. They work hard to provide for the individual needs of the residents and certainly deserve their overall rating of GOOD from the Care Quality Commission (please see their website for a full report). The staff although very busy, look after mom very well. (For which we are really grateful!) The residents own rooms are very nice. The food is good, she enjoys plenty of various drinks to keep her hydrated and nourished. There are activities at the centre for residents to join in if they wish. Mom has recently enjoyed several trips out with kind, caring staff (which we are really pleased about). Thank you to all the staff who have been involved in this! Overall, mom has received very good, quality care during her time there and I would recommend the centre and it's team of staff.

"A place that never gives up and always there."

I have to let you and everyone know about the innovative work at Perry Tree Centre and the positive effect that it is having on both the Patient and her family.

My mother was diagnosed with dementia 7 years ago. Her condition has some what worsened over the last 12 months and the local mental health team have been monitoring her behaviour to see if they are able to help medically and have tried different medication with no real affect other than reducing her quality of life.

It was discussed that the next stage for my mother was a nursing home where they would be able to sedate her to stop her being a risk to herself and others. This has had a negative affect on me and I have been unable to accept that there is nothing more I can do. So as a consequence I have distanced myself from her because I have been finding it hard to cope emotionally.

However the team had not given up:

I was called into a meeting and from the phone call I could sense their excitement about what they have achieved. The System was explained to me and I was excited to see my mother. They have devised a system using wireless headphones streaming music via tablet device. How could something so simple work so effectively. I walked onto the ward and there she was. She looked at me with the head phones on and gave me a massive smile, One that showed me that she knew who I was type of smile, which was amazing. I watched her for a while she was calm with no distress. (Where before she would just scream and shout for no apparent reason holding her head. Very distressing to see)

Then the miracle happened she sat down with her head phones on listening to her music (My mom hasn’t spoke to me in 3 years) she looked me in the eyes and told me that she loves me. WOW!!!!! What an amazing Christmas present. I can’t tell you how it made me feel. XXX Joyful tears XXX
