"Make me go online and I can't do it"
I tried to book an appointment and the closest they could give me was January. It's good apart from waiting times. I also have to do it online which I find difficult. You can't call them anymore. I'm older and it isn't easy for me.
"Rude staff, uninterested doctors"
Told me I couldn't book an appointment over the phone. I don't use the internet and I ended up having to call them three times to book. Very unhelpful staff. My experience of the doctors hasn't been good. One told me I could only discuss one issue in each appointment. For someone with complex health needs this is not very helpful.
"Condescending, uninterested, unconcerned"
They know less about my problem than I do.
Not wanting to help.
Ridiculous obstructive appointment system.
"Very good"
Very good and I can get appointments with them.
"GP thought I wasn't smart"
The GP made an assumption that I wasn't smart until I told them I was at university. I have dyspraxia and he didn't understand the condition I have.
"Online form is better than the telephone"
Quite good, get appointments by going online and that is better than waiting hours on the phone. They send a link and then sort an appointment. Really good.
"Five working days to sign repeat prescription"
Due to the inefficiency of this practice, they have just changed their policy and it will now take five working days to sign a repeat prescription.
"Can't get urgent appointments"
I have a chronic condition, and get recurring infections. If treated early the infection is mild and soon clears.
It's impossible to get urgent appointments; they tell me to see a Pharmacist; the Pharmacist can only prescribe from a limited list of antibiotics, none of which usually work as the injections are caused by resistant bacteria.
Neither will the surgery give me an emergency stock of antibiotics at home, which would be the best option for all of us.
This has been going on for several years now.
Fortunately I have paid privately and now have my emergency stock.

"Impossible to get emergency appointments"
I have a chronic condition, and get recurring infections. If treated early the infection is mild and soon clears. It's impossible to get urgent appointments; they tell me to see a Pharmacist; Neither will the surgery give me an emergency stock of antibiotics at home, which would be the best option for all of us.
This has been going on for several years now. Fortunately I have paid privately and now have my emergency stock.
"Helped me a lot"
One doctor there knew I was depressed and insisted on getting medication, she told me to go to support groups which helped me a lot, which helped me get out of depression.
"Triage system stops you seeing a doctor."
Their triage system allows the doctors to hide behind texts. You can’t speak to a doctor unless they call you. You can’t ask questions or have a discussion.
"Accessible as they can be"
They're great and as accessible as they can be. Attentive and friendly.
"No continuity of care"
You have to fill in the online form. Then they get someone to call me back. There isn't any continuity you get an appointment with whoever. They don't encompass all the care and just treat you in the moment. They always tell you to look on the website for answers and they don't read your history before appointments.
"GP referral sent back"
My husband has dementia but also has diabetes and has to check his levels. He isn't doing so well and won't let anyone do it so we need to get a skin patch to be able to check as we never know his levels. The GP said it isn't something they sort and referred to the QE but was sent back to the GP when they said it is not a procedure done there so was referred back. We are now waiting for another appointment and in the meantime my husband's health is in decline.
"Helpful practice"
Helpful. Could be better but they're still more helpful than my previous GP.
"Many patients and few GPs"
I have been with them for 10 years. It's difficult to get an appointment but the GPs are helpful. The reception staff listen to me and try to accommodate but the challenge is they have many patients and few GPs.
"Challenging to get a referral"
It's very difficult to get an appointment and very challenging to get referrals made.
"If I could give it a minus I would"
I can never get an appointment. When I do it is always with a difference Doctor and they are not really interested. They have changed to a triage online service which does not work. It was better when you had to phone or queue outside at least I used to get an appointment then.
"Referred me on"
I was seen by a doctor in November 2024 and she referred me to the women's for an ultrasound.
"Good so far"
Only been there once so I can't really comment too much. Good so far though.
"A very good GP"
The GP is very good. They gave me medicine straight away for a chest infection. It's also easy to get an appointment.
"Not good"
I don't think they're good. Access, behaviour and they aren't helpful to me or my son with Autism.
"Not as good as they used to be"
They're not as good as they used to be. You get triaged now and then an appointment arranged. They come out to me if I pre-arrange it. Some of the GPs are part time and I find it difficult to see different people.
"Don't see my GP"
I don't really see my GP. They get you in and out and they really don't care. They only dish out painkillers and antibiotics without examining you.
"Wanted to get a new inhaler"
Called 111 who forwarded me to pharmacy. Pharmacy told me to contact GP. I did, I went to the surgery, couldn’t find my record. I am a user of Ventolin for 35 years!
Reception shrugged shoulders. I told them I’m suffering I cant breathe, would you like me to pass out here? Shrug shoulders again. Was told follow 111 instructions! So I went to pharmacy who sat me down to help, but still no inhaler at this stage was very bad wheezing. Pharmacy called GP who became rude and totally " computer says no"
A disgraceful place they lose records, mis diagnose and frankly don’t give a toss about what state you are in. Rude and ignorant.
"Good"
Overall they are good but they missed my husbands enlarged heart and he died.
"Wait a long time"
I have visited this GP surgery for blood tests many times, its further for me and you are waiting a long time.
"Always helpful"
Always helpful, I haven't had any problems with them. I don't go to them very often.
"Appointment availability needs improvement"
They need to give out more appointments, they need to improve on that.
"Really good midwife"
The midwife is really good and I'm always able to contact her with questions, she always answers me back.
"No longer do blood tests for children"
I needed to book a blood test for my son, as he is falling asleep in class, due possibly to vitamin deficiencies. Lordswood Medical Group no longer do children's blood test so they told us to contact the Children's Hospital. The next appointment is almost 6 months away!
"Five star service delivery"
Five star service delivery. Very helpful GPs and nurses.
"Hardly any appointments online"
Hard to make appointments. I have been trying to ring the surgery to get one and they tell you to book online. Then there are few and far between when you get on there.
"Wish they had more face to face appointments"
Sometimes you want to be seen in person but there are no appointments available. Even though I fill in the form. I wish they would have more face to face appointments like they used to before.
"They're alright"
My GP told me to self refer. They're alright. Just overloaded with patients and stretched.
"Poor communication"
There are communication issues there between them and other services. It is all online now too but many people don't have access to online bookings or have computers or smartphones. I find it frustrating for myself and others.
"The worst surgery"
Horrendous. The worst surgery. You can never get through to them. You have to just wait it out and keep trying to get an appointment.
"Very good service delivery"
They always address my issues straight away. Very good service delivery.
"Mixed"
The merger of the district nursing services with Quinton has been badly managed. A system which worked has been replaced with one which doesn't.
"Rude, demeaning, uncaring Administrative team"
I have always been spoken down to and disrespected by the Administration, and sometimes Reception teams at the surgery. They seem to believe that my mental health problems are something to laugh about. I get spoken to and treated appallingly by the team, who have even laughed together in my face, when I have mentioned my suicide atempts. Yesterday - 26th November was the last straw, when a member of the team called me to go over a query I had made online. The assistant who MAY have had a slight Asian accent, I felt, belittled me by elongating her vowels so that I felt simplistic, despite her simplistic reading of the message I had sent to them. As a result in the demeaningfull conversation, various medical mistakes, where made on her behalf and two totally inappropriate appointments given. I am fully prepared to discuss the telephone conversation in full as there is too much to list here. My number is 07584993152.
"Staff helpful, but difficult to get appointment"
Appointment system is next to useless a face to face with actual doctors can take weeks.
"The worst online system"
They have a new online system which is worse than the previous phone system. You have to fill in form as then wait a whole day for a call.
"Excellent GPs"
I don't like the new online booking system but the GPs are excellent.
"Very caring staff"
All the staff are very helpful and caring. The only challenge is getting an appointment.
"A brilliant service"
A brilliant service. You can get appointments no problem. They were really helpful. They got me referred quickly too.
"Get appointments in a timely manner"
I can get appointments in a timely manner. I was referred to Heartlands for an endocrine issue.
"Doctor didn’t read completed form"
Completed triage online form but doctor did not read thoroughly and have incorrect information.
"A lovely doctor"
I called them and was 23 in the queue so I opted for a call back not a text. They text me. So I called back and said I needed a same day appointment. I saw a lovely doctor who explained everything and said that I needed to go straight to A&E.
"GP doesn't provide signed letters"
The service was okay, the staff were polite. We enquired about getting a signed letter from a GP to get a passport and they said they don't provide this service and they have changed their booking system and moved it online. So we have to go on to the website then fill in a online form which my parents find the Internet hard to use.
"Impossible to get an appointment"
I can't get appointments. You have to fill in a form online and then the doctor calls you back, it's virtually impossible to get an appointment. You call at 8AM and they have all gone. It's hopeless now.
"New system is makes it difficult to access GP"
I don't like the new online system. It takes ages to access and if you don't fill the form in correctly or it isn't working properly then you have to complete it all again. Everything takes so long and is so complicated. When I finally get in the staff are good but it's difficult to access them now. I even had to pay privately for a health check because of this.
"Five star GPs"
Reception are good and the GPs are 5 stars.
"New system so some patients are leaving"
Some patients are leaving to go to Sherwood House as they cannot access the new digital booking system. They aren't being offered any alternative method to access them so they are leaving the practice.
Hagley village 7/8/2024
"All fine with no issues."
I don't use them that often but when I do it's fine. I have no real issues getting appointments.
"Good receptionists"
It's hard to get appointments but the receptionists are good.
"Can get same day appointments."
The new appointment system has worked very well for us. We can very easily get same day appointments.
"Helpful and supportive"
They're good they are. We can get appointments without any issues. They see me and give me appointments for my mental health issues. I found them helpful and supportive.
"Very pleased with the care provided."
I've been with them for 20 years. I am very pleased with the care and support provided over the years.
"This NHS service is a failure"
This impersonal unfriendly system is totally inappropriate for patients. The relationship between doctor and patient is private, always has been and always should be. Filling out forms to see your doctor is disrespectful. The NHS is there to serve, we all pay for that. To book an appointment with you GP should be available online or by phone as it used to be.
"Excellent care provided for 2 years"
I have been with them for the last 2 years. the care and treatment has been excellent.
"Not happy with the service"
I'm diabetic and had to have a telephone appointment. I spoke to a paramedic. I wanted to speak to a doctor but no one was available. I'm not happy with the service.
"Happy with the service"
I am happy with the services. It's difficult to find an appointment.
"Told us to go to A&E"
My husband had a mini stroke and I was trying to get an appointment for him. It took us 2 hours to contact them and they said please book an ambulance and go to A&E.
"Very poor new admin system"
The doctors are good but the admin systems are very poor, especially the new triage system.
"Very good GP surgery and new system"
It's okay. There is a new system in place. I get my prescriptions sent across straight to the pharmacy too. Very good.
"My GP is excellent."
The GP is excellent. He will see me and listen to me whenever I need an appointment. I wait to see him, as he knows me and we get on.
"Good doctors"
Very good doctors. You just wait too long for one. Some of their information is outdated which can be challenging and worrying.
"Was given incorrect information"
Daughter checked the website to check who was doing the latest covid vaccines. The told me I could get it done at Harborne, but when I went there they said they weren't doing them. I had another appointment at the GP a few weeks ago and noticed they had a room set up and were doing the jabs. I ended up asking the nurse and she said she would do it. Why is the information out of date.
"Struggling to get an appointment"
Get the receptionist who are so rude. Struggling to get an appointment, been trying since March.
"Good GPs"
It's difficult to get an appointment but the GPs are very good and provide excellent care.
"Online system is difficult for me."
Everything is online, which is very difficult for people of my age as we aren't that computer literate.
"Administration is a nightmare."
Administration is a nightmare.
"Good GPs"
GPs are super good if you reach them.
"Good and helpful staff"
Good and helpful staff. Appointments ran 5 minutes after the slot.
"I didn't have any issues here."
I didn't have any issues here.
"Can't get a face to face appointment"
They will not book an appointment face to face. Can't book online on the new system but we do not understand. I want to book an appointment not write a questionnaire.
"Very pleased and satisfied."
I am very pleased and satisfied with the care and treatment here over the years.
"Excellent doctors"
Excellent doctors and nurses. Good opening times but the new online system has made things more difficult.
"Very difficult to get an appointment."
My parents are with them, they find it very difficult to get an appointment. I have had to call 111 a number of times to get emergency appointments for my parents.
"The new online system is difficult"
Very difficult to get appointments there now, especially with the online system. The GPs are great
"I just cannot get an appointment"
I have tried to contact them so many times for an appointment in the last few months but cannot get one. I have even filled the online form in but nobody replies to me.
"Good GP and nurses but cant get appointments"
Very good GPs and nurses but getting an appointment is the main challenge.
"Brilliant"
I have been in contact with the community midwife. It has been brilliant.
"My parents are registered with this practice"
If you are elderly, it seems you struggle to simply book an appointment with a GP. The doctors and medical team have a duty of care and in my opinion contribute to creating serious safeguarding risks. Elderly, non technology savvy patients seem to be just tossed aside! Appalling! The CQC should investigate current GP practice services!
"Awful locums, inexperienced receptionists"
No communication between patient and doctor
Doctors rush appointments and belittle feelings
You wait hours to be seen
"Never any appointments"
No appointments at all. They don't pick up the phone and if they do pick up they say there is no appointments available until next week.
"Left without medication"
The psychiatric nurse there is nice but you get left to it once you have spoken with them. They put me in touch with a social prescriber who phoned me. You get pushed from pillar to post. They give you hints and tips but no help. I can't reorder the antidepressants on repeat and they also say someone will be in touch and no one ever follows up and then your left without medication.
"Excellent GP's but rude reception staff."
The GP's are excellent but the reception staff are quite rude and unprofessional in dealing with patients.
"I changed practice due to amalgamation"
I had been with them since I was younger. Having trouble getting appointments and the amalgamation of practices didn't work and they would send you to practices further away. I ended up changing practices because of this. It just didn't work for me.
"NOT great"
I wanted to make a routine appointment, as per contract they need to be open till 1830.It is on their website as well
I called a few times , the surgery was closed at 1720!!!!
"Easy to get an appointment."
The GP is very good and getting an appointment is quite easy.
"No same day appointments."
No good. You are waiting sometimes for a long time for appointments. It's a long wait on the phone. 2 to 3 hours and then they're fully booked. No same day appointments and they don't give you any alternative. It's very very hard.
"Engaging and friendly staff."
Very engaging and friendly staff. At times waiting is long but it's okay.
"My GP was very good"
I have been with them for a very long time. My GP was very good and helpful. She retired and nobody informed us about it. We came to know when we went for an appointment.
"They picked the phone on first ring"
Last week my husband rang them and they picked the phone on first ring and gave him same day appointment.
"Referred me on time"
Very good and helpful GP. Referred me on time.
"Appalingly difficult to get an appointment"
So difficult to see a GP at all. Never 'your' GP. Receptionists brusque and ask loudly what is your problem before offering appointment. That is if there is one available that day. Not possible to book appointment at all. You can only take what is available that day or come back the next. Calling on phone for appointment a joke! Basically rude. If you are offered appointment you wait in a huge area that is virtually empty. If you come for blood tests Reception often send you to wrong waiting point. I am a patient of 40 yrs with heart problems awaiting surgery I need to see a GP who 'knows' me! Nursing staff are excellent and most GPs good but sometimes have obviously not read my notes. I dread to think what they record in their notes.. A badly run practice that leaves patients at the mercy of a very young and arrogant team of Reception Staff!
"Wasn't treated well"
Wife was ill at the beginning of the month and it was hard to get an appointment that was face to face with the doctor. They kept diagnosing her over the phone, giving her various medication. She ended up losing lots of weight and became really poorly so ended up taking her to A&E.
"Sorted her out"
Sorted her out and gave her antibiotics, we didn't have to wait long was only there 5 or 10 minutes then they called her in.
"Very difficult to get appointments"
Very difficult to get appointments all the time. Minimum waiting times for bloods is 12 days, If you are lucky. Doctors are excellent and reception staff very helpful.
"They’re really good"
They do come out to my house. They’re really good.
"Can wait an hour on phone"
Can wait an hour on phone, you have to wait till it’s your turn. Costs a lot on my phone bill. Sometimes the phone rings but none answers. I find that very rude sometimes. When I get through they say come into the surgery or they will come to my house if it’s an emergency. The CPM centre will take me to any appointments I have.
"I went and they looked in both of my ears"
I went and they looked in both of my ears and they said that I can’t go swimming.
"Can’t get an appointment"
Can’t get an appointment, either over the phone or on the laptop. No choice of appointment. Hold on for ages for them to answer. Have to wait for at least 30 to 45 minutes before you get through and no appointment. Could give you one in 3 weeks.
"Dreadful attitude to patients"
I have suffered the arrogance of the receptionists at Lordswood for many years, but in recent years it has started to affect my health and I feel I need to warn people.
Initially, my concerns were triggered by listening to the receptionists slagging off telephone callers (by name and sometimes by address) while I was sitting, waiting to see a doctor. I used to comment on this behaviour to whichever doctor I saw (including the managing partner) but nothing ever changed.
Since Covid, Lordswood Practice seems to have abandoned the concept of patients seeing doctors. In 2022, I tried for two months without success to get an appointment to discuss coming off one of my medications. Every day I was told “No. No appointments. Try again tomorrow.” even though I was happy to accept an appointment days or weeks in the future. My carer even turned up every day in person for two weeks before they opened the phone lines for appointments. She was literally first in the queue, ahead of everyone else, but every day she was told the same thing “No appointments” Eventually, she broke down in the street after she caught the receptionists sniggering and nudging each other as she walked in. She had to be comforted and helped home by a kind, passing hospital doctor. After two months, I accepted defeat and just stopped taking the drug (an antidepressant) without medical supervision. And yes, it was horrible (but I am glad I did it). When my carer asked me “Why are they (the receptionists) like this?” I answered “Because they can be. It’s an abuse of power. They are little people trying to punish the world for their littleness.”
Finally, Lordswood is yet another practice that is trying to force patients to see ‘physician assistants’ rather than qualified doctors. These assistants only have to have a science degree to be employed (eg geography or geology) and don’t need any medical or first aid training or experience. The original justification for this idea (which came from American healthcare and private equity firms as a way of boosting profits from deprived areas and vulnerable people ) was to help with administration. But now they are to be the first line of people seen by patients.
I wish the regulator would do something about this place. For too long, It has been allowed to be a goldmine for the partners at the expense of patients. But if you can never get an appointment with a doctor, why is the NHS continuing to give the place millions of £’s per annum (I meant it when I said it is a goldmine)? The taxpayers should not be paying private businessmen (the partners) for a service that is not being delivered.
"See my son when I need them to"
Good doctor and appointments. See my son when I need them to.
"I don't like it over the phone"
It's a fort knox. I've signed up with them but they're difficult to approach. I've not had a face to face appointment with them, I had a telephone call from a GP but it sounded a bit like a scam. I don't like it over the phone. The GP didn't tell me their name over the phone.
"Environment is clean"
Doctors are good but long waiting time. Environment is clean.
"Pretty quick turnaround"
Good – get an appointment 2 days after you call. Pretty quick turnaround of appointments and never have to wait too long, when I go there. They also send medication to the pharmacy next door really quickly.
"I can get seen when I need to"
Not needed to get an appointment but can if I do need one, does take a while to get through but I can get seen when I need to.
"Not happy with GP"
Not happy with GP waiting time for referral to hospital for finger. Have to take tramadol for pain. Went for an appointment on 27th and they said need an operation and they will send an appointment for operation but not received anything.
"Can get appointments with them"
Can get appointments with them. I do wait a long time for them to answer but I can eventually get an appointment. It won’t always be with the same doctor but I do get an appointment.
"Takes a while to get appointment"
Can't get an appointment, until you speak up louder. Takes a while to get an appointment then it's over the phone and I would rather see them face to face.
"Rude reception staff that dont know legislation"
They give out wrong information and do not follow what the NHS states the patient is entitled to.
Making up wrong information for the patient as they go along.
Then they are rude when the patient knows their rights and NHS legislation.
And the patient states facts as written by the NHS.
They have little respect for older people the younger staff at the surgery.
If you complain you get targeted.
Gone anonymous as they target you for complaining here.
"UNPROFESSIONAL RECEPTIONISTS AND MANAGMENT TEAM"
The staff I have seen some less then half the age of people they are dealing with disrespect them.
Disrespect the NHS patients.
Totally unprofessional.
And that goes for the Managment they are friendly with some people and quite nasty to others and disrespectful they don't treat some people Equal.
Some receptionists don't even know the NHS guild lines towards NHS patients.
"Not Informed About Chest X-ray Results"
Had a chest X-Ray, noted report on my on-line medical records as follows - 'XR Chest Report, Borderline, Other (Review as arranged) (Patient Informed). Result reviewed by Dr at Lordswood House Group Medical Practice (NHS Birmingham and Solihull Icb - 15e) - 01 Feb 2023 12:35'. I have not been informed or contacted.
"a fortress named a medical group (-1)"
It is multiple of bad experience with the practice, it is sailing on its own in the titanic direction, failing and more failing. travelling on the bandwagon of restrict NHS resources.
"No doctors when I tuned up"
No doctors when I tuned up, had an asthma check over the phone. How can you do check over the phone.

"Very caring"
Very caring able to get appointments easily to get through on phones.
"Can’t get an appointment"
Can’t get an appointment, have to queue outside. Can’t get one over the phone. Can get an appointment. Have to get there physically at 8:15 in person.
"Doctors are fine"
Reception never pick up the phone but doctors are fine.
"Always difficult to get an appointment"
I have a past history that means I am at higher likelihood of bowel cancer than most people. I had previously been told, that I could stop having regular reviews in the clinic, but that my name was on the list so that I could contact the Hospital Consultant's secretary if I had any new symptoms, so as to arrange a review appointment directly if I needed; so I was not being seen regularly in clinic. All was well for perhaps five or six years, but when I tried to contact the hospital clinic after several weeks of passing blood with my motions, and it not going away, I was told to see my GP to get a referral as I was no longer on the list. I contacted the GP and was told I needed to be seen before I could be referred, and that the next GP appointment was in four weeks’ time, and that I would need some tests before I could be referred back to the hospital, and that the tests could not be arranged before my appointment. Adding up the inevitable delays; (appointment to see GP, appointment for tests, appointment for results, waiting for hospital appointment), this was going to be several months until I was seen by the Specialist, even if the Specialist thought it was urgent when the GP's letter arrived. So I went to see someone in a private clinic. Fortunately all was normal.
I feel particularly let-down by the GP service. Anonymous second-hand messages through the clerical staff. I rarely bother them, an annual blood test so perhaps once or twice a year, but it's always difficult to get an appointment and it's always with a different doctor, and I no longer get the feeling that they are on my side trying to help. It definitely used to be different when previous Dr was there.
"Difficult can’t get through on phones"
Difficult can’t get through on phones. Online system doesn’t work, so you have to call and then wait for a long time on phone and even than you don’t get an appointment. They will give emergency appointment for children but have to go physically.
"It’s a very big & busy surgery"
It’s a very big & busy surgery so getting an appointment is always a challenge.
"GP’s are excellent"
GP’s are excellent but waiting for 50 minutes in the phone queue is very stressful.
"GP’s & nurses are excellent"
I can easily get phone appointments. GP’s & nurses are excellent.
"At the time I was happy with it"
Went to doctors for pain in ankle, they sent me for x-rays within a couple of weeks and then took 4 – 5 weeks to send back to doctor. Then they sent me a text message to decide whether I wanted to be sent to the ankle clinic and to contact them for this. At the time I was happy with it.
"Things have gone downhill"
Since Covid things have gone downhill, No face to face appointments. Surgery open but couldn’t see a doctor, but they will phone you back. If its pretty serious they will call you in.
"They don't do what they're supposed to do"
My son took my 3 month old grandson to doctors who had constipation for 9 days. Doctors told him to bring him in and they did not examine him. They just told him to take him to A&E. They do not do what they're supposed to do, they pass their services onto other people. I wonder how lay people are coping with using GP's, as if they can't get appointments, what can they do?
"Would not recommend at all"
Would not recommend at all. It's easier to get through the king. When you call you're 32 on the list, then you get cut off. The receptionist are not cooperative at all, they are like rottweilers. You are a number only. You make an appointment they give you two weeks later. Asking for a repeat prescription is a big deal. I try to explain it's urgent and they still don't care.
"Takes ages to get an appointment"
They are okay. Doctors are good but it takes ages to get an appointment. I waited 3 weeks for a blood test.
"You feel like you are begging for appointment"
You feel like you are begging for appointments and they say no.
"Face to face and telephone appointments"
They're fine, yeah. Always manage to get either a face to face or over the phone appointment. It can be a long process on the phones to get through but that's not all the time.
"Prioritise under 1's"
Experience has been very good. They prioritise under 1's. You have to queue when on the phone, but you get through to them. But you get that anywhere.
"Service has gone down hill"
I find that their service has gone down hill. Difficult, only get an appointment if go in person. I had a face to face appointment the other day. I don't mind an over the phone appointment. I think you have to be quite determined and have your wits about you.
"They're okay"
I am able to get appointments but only if I physically go to the doctors. They're okay.
"GP really good"
GP really good, nice and polite. Can get appointments.
"Doctors are great"
Waited 6 weeks for a blood test. Impossible to get an appointment on phone. Doctors are great.
"They are good with my daughter"
My daughter has been referred by the doctor to the Children's Hospital as she needs an urgent MRI scan because she has seizures and is Autistic. She was referred over 2 months ago but we have not had any response for when the appointment will be.
"Struggling to get appointments"
Pretty good and try to be helpful. Struggling to get appointments, accessing on the phone or getting face to face appointments.
"I am very disappointed with GP practices"
I am very disappointed with GP practices in general they get paid for all of us but make it super hard to get an appointment to see them. Most over 70’s are not internet friendly and have been badly overlooked. I moved into the retirement village after I lost my husband to COVID 12 months ago and registered with Lordswood house surgery. I found them hard to contact so much so I might get a private doctor and this to be on the NHS.
"Doctors are all good but staff is rude unsympathetic"
Lady at prescriptions is rude. She feels powerful because she is providing medicines to patients
"Very long wait on phone"
No appointment and very long wait on phone, sometimes you have to call 10 times & wait online for 50 mins.
"Very difficult to contact them"
Very difficult to contact them. Always very hard to get an appointment.
"Unable to see a doctor - ever"
Unacceptable service, they don’t want to see anyone, they make it as hard as possible for you to see a GP in person
"Perfectly satisfactory."
Whenever I've had to use this practice (which isn't often) I've found it perfectly satisfactory.
"Recently dreadful"
Recently dreadful
"Difficult to get an appointment"
There is none as I can't get an appointment . Or even get through on the telephone
"Difficult to get an appointment"
Difficult to get an appointment. Fobbed off by 'phone. Obliged to pay to see a Consultant privately - who was very helpful. Why am I paying for an NHS that is unavailable to me?
"Very good"
Very good
"Quick, receptive, helpful and efficient"
I have had several appointments at this surgery over COVID and they have been brilliant - quick, receptive, helpful and efficient.
"Haven't really had any problems"
We haven't really had any problems with this practice, other than the fact that it takes such a long time to get through to them on the telephone. We don't mind telephone consultations with our GP, but if we do have to make a follow-up appiontment with her, we always make it with her, on the phone, to save waiting on the phone for ages. We did have a bit of a situation when a prescription for the wrong amount of medication had been signed off by another GP (not ours), but we managed to get it sorted satisfactorily. But we weren't impressed by that. Why does another doctor interfere with another doctor's decisions when it's not the first doctor's patient?!
"Great reluctance to see patients"
Since the pandemic this surgery has made it near impossible to get to see a GP. The system is appalling and the removal of v consult to apparently cope with the vaccination programme was removed for 5 months. It has only just been reinstated. The telephone will say we have reached full capacity and you have to keep retrying. There is no continuity with GPs and this is important if you have complex and chronic needs. In the winter everyone was stuck outside waiting, all not socially distanced. Everyone could hear your queries! The elderly only get to see a paramedic, no offence but they are not trained to the same standard as a GP. This surgery has let down many of its patients during the pandemic and continues to do so. You make it so intentionally difficult for patients to contact the surgery that they give up potentially leading to delayed diagnosis. We are being told that an appointment is not available for weeks and if we worsen we have 111 or katie rd clinic. It is clear that from recent negative reviews that this is a real and genuine issue. There are surgeries with the same amount of patients who have continued to see patients and respond to queries in a timely manner... What's Lordswoods excuse!
"Very skilled and organised Nurse"
My son had his one year vaccine, Nurse administered the 4 jabs vaccines and she was fantastic! She understands how the child and mum would feel. She was very organised and her practical skill is brilliant. As a new mum during Pandemic everything relating to child health and well-being can be quite worrying. She makes me feel relaxed and make the environment very nice. Thank you!
"Gp great. Otherwise service is dreadful."
Appalling service. Gone dramatically downhill. Phone lines often too busy to even let you join the queue. You have to shout your name and DOB through intercom - data protection act violation. Have waited 45 mins to be answered. No timed appointments possible - just 3-4 he slots which makes it impossible for anyone who works to get an appointment at a time they can guarantee they’ll be able to receive the phone call. Selcroft Ave has no outdoor undercover waiting area or even a seat - even if you are frail / disabled - even in pouring rain / snow ! Would definitely not recommend this place to anyone. Am looking for a new surgery which is a shame because the gps are nice if you can ever make contact with one.
"I feel completely cut off"
Can wait more than30 mins to get through on the phone. The doors are still closed. I recently went with a query and pressed the bell which started a phone ringing. After waiting 10 mins for someone to answer, the phone cut out. I feel completely cut off and isolated from my doctor. There seems to be no way of getting through. To be on the phone for 30-40 mins costs money.
"Appts are really delayed"
I can never get through to reception. Appts are really delayed.
"The phone lines are extremely busy"
The phone lines are extremely busy. They keep Cutting off and they never have any appointments left to book. Prescription services are excellent as you book them on line
"Good"
Good they're always good service.
"Fantastic surgery"
Fantastic surgery, yes it?s busy as most practises are, but the doctors are all wonderful as are the rest of the team.
"Excellent both times"
Excellent both times. Was efficiently organised. I was booked in and seen in less than 20 minutes both times.
"Brilliant Lordswood Surgery (Harborne) vaccination centre"
Brilliant. Well organised. Everyone was really friendly and efficient. In and out with little fuss!
"The nurse was helpful LordsWoods House Surgery"
I went to give my blood sample. It was easy and good. The nurse was helpful.
"They are doing good with Phone appointments Lords wood house Surgery"
I had a couple of very good telephone conversations with my GP. They are doing good with Phone appointments.
"Access problem"
Endless hanging on the he telephone
"Much more difficult to access Lordswood house practice"
Much more difficult to access and increased referrals to A/E without seeing. Have suspended video consult.
"Excellent service"
Excellent service. They really care about providing good healthcare
"Mostly excellent"
Mostly excellent. I am able to order repeat prescriptions and book appointments online without waiting in telephone queues.
"Reception staff friendly"
Good, reception staff friendly. GP knowledgeable do not have to wait too long.
"Caring and helpful"
They are very caring and helpful
"Difficult to contact"
V-consult was hopeless. Near impossible to get through on phone. Absurdly reluctant to see patients even when necessary and both doctor and patient fully vaccinated. Some patients do need to be seen!
"Making an appointment is extremely difficult"
Making an appointment is extremely difficult. 30-40 minute wait on phone is common. No other way of making appointments. On-line suspended. No times given for call backs. Old frail people having to wait outside with minimal shelter. When you do get to see a practitioner care is good.
"Good"
good
"Very impressed"
Very very impressed with the organisation of the Covid vaccination service.
"No problems"
Hardly ever have to use it, but when I do , there are no problems
"Receptionists were very helpful"
Positive. Switch to online wasn't smooth but receptionists were very helpful in explaining & provided information
"Very difficult to contact"
Very difficult to contact.
"Difficult to contact"
Difficult to contact, impossible to actually see anyone.
"My call could not be answered"
Needing to book a telephone consultation, I rang the practice and was told that my call could not be answered as the practice was at full capacity and couldn't take any more calls.
"It's been very good"
It's been very good - we have had to attend for blood tests, but it has been very difficult getting through to the surgery on the telephone, often having to hang on for half-an-hour in the "queue". Whilst we understand about all the Covid precautions they are taking at the surgery, it really isn't much fun standing outside the surgery, often in the cold and wet, waiting to be called in by the nurse. We have also made telephone consultation appointments with our GP, but those have been absolutely fine, no complaint about that.
"Very frustrating doing battle with computers"
Very frustrating doing battle with computerised triage. This has improved, but not happy with phone consultation prefer face to face. At the end of phone call I was advised to do self referrals for physio clinic and for treatment clinic, which involves more phone calls on my part rather than the gp using NHS computer to make referrals. I wasn't even given the phone numbers to call!
"On-line system which is very user-unfriendly."
They seem desperate to avoid seeing anyone. Constant reminders, not only to avoid coming in in person, but not to telephone either. Insist on an ill-thought-out on-line system which is VERY user-unfriendly.
"Good"
Good
"Outstanding"
Video appointment to assess mole on my face. Then phone call from my GP - followed up 6 weeks later.
"Excellent service"
We have been for our flu jabs and individual blood tests. Also had a few phone call consultations with our GP. Excellent service -apart from the long time hanging on the phone for a reply from the surgery.
"Most staff are helpful and approachable"
Its been a good experience with the nurses, phlebotomists, receptionists and some GP's. Unfortunately I had a phone consultation with a GP today who is not my regular GP that I ended up in tears as he was rude and abrupt. I work in a hospital and I know what a duty of care is - but he doesnt.
"Worked well during lockdown"
Online survey questionnaire: What has worked well for you during lockdown?
Answer: Lordswood Health Centre
"Good service"
Good service, helpful staff and easy to get an appointment.
"Appointment system very good"
Appointment system very good - always get appointment within a week
Sometimes I feel restricted about the time with the doctor- but the care has been good.
Waiting times for appointment is not good - Doctor always seems to be running late
"Staff and facilities all above expectations."
Doctors, nurses, reception staff and facilities all above expectations.
"The worst care I’ve ever received"
Sadly this GP surgery has not lived up to expectations.
I have been with them for about 4 years, and during that time there was one particular GP who repeatedly failed to act on referrals she told me she had made.
I was strung along for months each time, only to find out that the referrals were never made.
At the time I complained and little was done - I essentially got told off by the practice manager for making a formal complaint, and it was made quite clear that complaining again in the future was pointless.
Recently I had the same issue with another 4 referrals she suggested but seems to have refused to do, and I have had no help from the practice in rectifying this or swapping me to a more competent GP.
I have had no choice but to change doctors surgery.
I live with several chronic health conditions including EDS, Chiari Malformation and cervical instability. These need regular monitoring and treatment from a diverse array of specialists, so I have deteriorated hugely since not having access to the right support.
It’s a real shame that this surgery has gotten away with letting a patient down so badly with no repercussions, and I hope this doesn’t happen to more patients before they make any changes.
"Provide a whole range of services"
Provide a whole range of services, no trouble getting appointment. Had a chest infection and saw the same doctor every time. I visited even if I asked for an appointment on the day. Have type 2 diabetes, I come for appointments regularly and they deliver exactly what I want. I also damaged my knee and the follow up appointment at the GP was amazing (saw who I wanted, when I wanted).
"Good Experience"
My experience of using the GP surgery has been really good.
"Excellent service with good doctors"
Very good, professional and efficient surgery. both clinical and non clinical staff is helpful & caring.
"Friendly Service"
My GP is brilliant, they know me. I use type-talk as I am deaf & Its easy to book an appointment and get interpreter. I always get an appointment when I need it and they are very friendly.
"Good service"
Cleanliness, staff attitude, waiting times, treatment explanations and quality of care are all good.
"Didn't provide any support for carer"
Depends on who is on reception. Some I wouldn't rate at all. Others I would give 5. Some are lovely and would do all they can to get an appointment.
It's difficult to get an appointment. I go in to make an appointment, because the 'phone is almost impossible. Can sit up to 30 minutes and after 10 to 15 minutes just press and redial. They used to have a message, but now it just rings engaged. All the receptionists are busy - can be four on reception, at other times only one.
Dr was very nice - but took a long time to assess my mother. GP said she couldn't refer her to a counsellor but gave antidepressants and said she just needs someone to talk to. At least 12 months from when problems started that GP took concern seriously. Mother didn't realise anything was wrong - still doesn't. GP did the tests herself - she then referred her to Birmingham Healthy Minds. Gave number for Birmingham Healthy Minds, one assessment and two visits. They wanted to get her to join group therapy, mixing with drug addicts. Cruse said they couldn't provide care.
She was on warfarin - nurses were good to her. Tended to have the same nurse doing this test. She wasn't a sick person physically. Now changed GP.
