"It can be difficult to get an appointment"
They have gone metric. I can't call until midday for an appointment. I have tried to use the online booking system but struggled. Thankfully I don't have to contact them that often but a friend of mine who is ill does and she struggles to get an appointment. I was able to rearrange an appointment when I was away on holiday.
"Excellent practice- served me well"
Given the challenges within the NHS I felt that all members of the team were really attentive; I felt listened to and got the best service possible from everyone, thank you.
"The midwife is so friendly here"
I saw the midwife here and it was good. She was so friendly and I was able to ask questions and everything was fine when I saw her last week.
"So much change I don't use them"
I don't use them if I don't need to. It's difficult to get an appointment. So much change over the last five years as GPs have retired or left.
"It didn't submit"
I never got the application after doing it on the NHS app even though it said it was submitted on the website. I contacted them and they said it hadn't been done and offered to post application.
"I moved after service went down"
Lots of GPs have left or retired and now when you feel as though you don't know who you're booking in with. The service went down so I ended up moving to another practice. For me I just wanted to try somewhere else.
"Very rude staff"
Very difficult to get an appointment and staff are very rude.
"The GPs are fine"
I can't always get an appointment but the GPs are fine.
"Excellent service delivery"
They have helped me a lot during pregnancy. Excellent service delivery.
"My treatment was not handled well"
The staff are kind but it took a year to finally get more settled. Initially I was on one treatment. In October of last year this became difficult to find. I then starting using a different drug successfully. That then became impossible to source at my dose. In May of this year, it was replaced with the oral equivalent against my wishes. I had requested a change to be prescribed and my blood sugars were still high. I was told that they don’t double up on injections, so that was impossible and I was given no reason as to why an increase of the medication could not be done for me. The oral substitute does not supress my appetite and therefore does not help to control my sugar levels at all. Instead of trying an increased dose or returning to the injectable, your pharmacist suggested a new injectable, which I reluctantly considered, but did ask again about increased medication. She was unable to find out if this new injectable is suitable for me and referred me to the diabetes service to start insulin. I made a fuss and now am on the new injectable, my blood sugars are coming down and I am more controlled in my eating. A year of uncontrolled blood sugars is not good for my health. Why did the NHS not plan better securing supplies for these injectable for diabetics before allowing the free for all that then ensued? My doctors didn't handle things well either.
"I would give them 10 stars"
I would give them 10 stars for excellent care and support over the years.
"Very helpful GP"
My GP is very helpful. He referred me to ENT and dermatology for further treatment.
"They're accommodating."
They're good and try to accommodate later appointments that fit me with being self employed. They arranged blood tests the other week for me.
"Difficult to get in touch with them"
It's very hard to get hold of them. You call up at 8:00AM for a telephone consultation and no choice given for a GP appointment or to book online. They tell you you have booked the wrong appointment when you book online but there isn't an option. You don't have your own designated GP that knows your history. Times have changed.
"They fitted my 21 month old in"
It can be difficult to get an appointment even when you call at 8:00AM. I called for my 21 month old son the other day and there were no appointments but because of his age they fitted him in. If it was for myself I would just wait and try again.
"Very professional team"
A very professional team of GP's. Excellent care and support provided every time. Appointments are available whenever I need one.
"Good example of joined up care"
Telephone call with GP on 5th December, needed ECG. Arranged for next day with practice nurse
Also had blood pressure tested & blood sample taken at same time to get up to date.
Excellent service.
Many thanks
"Very good, professional staff."
Really good. Very professional. I ended up changing surgeries due to the old one not being great. I find this one better. I can get appointments when I need one without any struggle or rude staff.
"They are very good"
They are very good. I am always able to get same day appointment, although I have to wait on phone line for a while.
"Can’t get appointment"
Can’t get appointment. Long waits on phone. Okey when can get in with them. Long process to get appointment.
Dear Patient I am sorry to hear you have problems getting an appointment. The appointment system is always under review. We have recently opened up more appointments for patients to pre book. We offer online appointments that can be booked up-to 8 weeks in advance. We also offer face to face appointments.
"Long waits, surgery is terrible"
They're a nightmare. My actual midwife I see there is really good, the actual surgery is terrible. They're still not seeing people face to face, long waits and it's the same even for my daughter and other half. If I have any issues with my pregnancy, I can go to triage at the hospital and be seen quicker than I would see my own GP.
Dear patient I am sorry to hear you feel we do not see patients. We offer a range of appointments including face to face with all our clinicians as well as telephone triage. Patients can also pre-book appointments up-to 2 months in advance for routine consultations. It is patient choice on what type of a appointment they request.
"Bit of a struggle sometimes"
Bit of a struggle sometimes, put in an prescription before 9am on Monday and they didn’t process it until Friday it was my heart medication. Not really good.
Dear patient, I am sorry to hear you had problems obtaining your prescription. We try our hardest to process prescriptions within 48 hours. Occasionally this is not always possible. But you can contact the surgery and speak to the prescription clerk who would be more than happy to help.
"They see me and give me medication"
Inflammation of heart, they see me and give me medication. Aspirin and statin’s to thin my blood to stop pain and suffering in my legs with water retention. They are accessible and help me. I recently requested a medicines review but waiting to hear from them.
Dear patient, please contact the surgery and ask for an appointment with the pharmacist who will be more than happy to carryout a medication review with you.
"They're trying their best"
They can be okay, sometimes it just takes ever so long to get through. Don't get me wrong they're trying their best, it's just there can be long waits. The staff are great and it's good when you can see the nurse or doctors.
"Waste of time"
They know my history and know that I am pregnant but still didn’t give me an appointment. They only gave me an appointment after one week for blood test. Waste of time.
"Trying to get through ridiculous"
Pain in the bum. Trying to get through ridiculous. They have no appointments don’t prioritize kids.
"Good"
It was good and they spoke to you.
"Obviously amazing"
Obviously amazing, they squeeze you in and doctor will see you. They saw my daughter when she was 9 days old and was not registered.
"Good support"
Good support, help & advice given by reception team all the time.
"Staff not helpful"
Long waiting times & staff not helpful.
"Face to face and telephone appointments"
They're alright to be fair. Either get a phone call when I ring or they do a face to face appointment. They also offer a Whatsapp service where they do video call appointments for when you can't get appointments.
"Can't get appointments"
Generally okay, it's ridiculous you can't get an appointment. Takes that long to get through at 8am. It's not bad when you're free but I'm at work. I can't get appointments when I'm at work because I'm working.
"No trouble in getting an appointment"
No trouble in getting an appointment. They’re great phone them and see them the same day.
"GP won’t listen to you at all"
First you don’t get an appointment, second if you get one your GP won’t listen to you at all and blame lifestyle choices for everything.
"Poor service from reception staff."
Reception staff persist in asking what reasons are for wanting to see GP. NHS governance require that access to this information is on a need to know basis. It’s got worse over the last few years
"Rude Receptionist"
There is a receptionist here who's name I don't know, she is incredibly rude. She snaps on the phone, is dismissive, obstructive and unhelpful. She puts me off ringing the surgery at all. The other concern I have about this practice is one of the nurses going into great detail about another patient (whilst she didn't actually tell me their name, she gave me several details about them which mean I could have worked it out. And I mean deeply personal information about STD's! I was shocked. She also didn't know how to use the computer properly and wasted my time as she was not able to log on) She also gave me incorrect advice about HPV. I really think she needs to be given more training!
"Very good and professional"
They are very good and professional, they try to provide good support throughout the COVID times
"This practice is well organised Northwood medical centre"
This practice is well organised well run phone service excellent all kind of care very good
"Good service"
Very good service but needs to open doors to patients again especially the elderly and frail
"Very good service"
We have always had very good service.
"Easy to get an appointment"
Easy to get an appointment. GP only allowed 10 mins of conversation and can discuss only one symptom.
Thank you for your feedback on Health Watch. I am pleased to hear that you find it easy to get an appointment at the Practice. As you rightly say the GPs only have 10 minutes per patient. However if a patient wants to discuss multiple problems they can book a double appointment with the GP.
Your feedback is appreciated and it helps us to improve on the service we provide to our patients.
Management
"Empathic & patient"
Receptionist and Dr are amazing
