"Waiting times were not okay"

Rescheduled the review appointment five times which I found ridiculous. Review was long overdue. the experience at the appointment was okay but waiting times and not being seen has not been good.

"A good experience"

A good experience there. I found the doctors mental health team much friendlier and helpful.

"26 week wait for memory assessment"

I have been referred to the memory clinic under the Maple Leaf Centre and have been told that I will be waiting for a minimum of 26 weeks. I am quite worried about the waiting time because I am very concerned about my memory and if needed the sooner I get a diagnosis the sooner I can access help and support.

"A good service but no follow up service"

My experience of the Maple Leaf Centre has not been great and I have had difficulties at times. It took a long time to get a diagnosis and then it took a long time to get my medication right for me. Changes were made to my medication by doctors without them consulting me. They also failed to follow up on my care. I did not receive follow on appointments and there were no check-ins to see how I was doing following appointments and medication adjustments. I have had to chase them and I struggle to do this without the support of my support worker. When I have approached doctors/staff about my concerns I feel that they become defensive and do not listen to me.

"Lady I see is lovely"

I have home visits as part of the Alzheimer's diagnosis process and the lady I see is lovely. They also do video calls and texts.

"Diagnosed with no follow on support"

I had to fight to get a referral and when I eventually got an appointment they said that their tests were inconclusive and that they would see me again in six months time. My symptoms became worse and my family contacted them. They were accommodating and they did see me quicker when I was diagnosed with vascular dementia. It was explained that there was no medication they could offer and I was sent on my way with my diagnosis. They explained that the outcome of my appointment would be sent to me via letter and that they would also be writing to my GP but over four weeks later I have not received a letter and my GP has not received formal notification of my diagnosis. They could do better at supporting patients post diagnosis, nothing has really been explained to me. There has been no information, support or follow on appointments and/or treatments offered. It feels like you are just ticked off their list because you have had your appointment.

"Cover up for their abusive staff"

Apparently you would like to take the name out of a review to manipulate those who have had to deal with this horrible condescending woman called Marie or Maria. Train your staff, the service is an absolute disgrace.

"Awful"

I don't even know how to begin to describe how terrible this service is. No one is trauma informed or seems to be mental health trained in the slightest. Some vile woman I dealt with at the centre and at my house, who just insulted me continuously because she can't fathom what it takes to deal with sexual abuse and emotional abuse, spoke to me like I was some child or scrounger, because I refuse to shove pills down my throat, like all they seem to care about doing at this waste of space service.

"Really helped me"

The early intervention service organised an assessment and the doctor told me they suspected psychosis. I lost trust in them but was given a new doctor who I have a good rapport with. I trust her. If not for the EIS I would have seriously harmed myself, they have done a lot for me.
