"Appalling Service - needs investigating"

Appalling service from this team.
From making an appointment, to requesting prescriptions, to arranging doctor reviews — every step has been unacceptable. I was told a medication review was required after 3 months, yet the appointment sent was for 9 months later. There are no repeat medications in place, and how someone with dementia is supposed to remember to call, wait on hold for ages, and then be spoken to in an unprofessional manner is beyond me.

This is meant to be dementia care.
Absolutely disgraceful.

"No support or follow up"

They gave him a pill but he couldn't take it because of his pacemaker. The doctor was very flippant and we had no follow up with them at all. They don't explain what happens after diagnosis or what support is actually available.

"The nurse is very helpful"

The nurse was helpful and tried to get in contact with the doctor at QE. There was no response from them. She is very helpful when I ring them up.

"Forgot to send a prescription"

When my wife saw the doctor she knew the type of dementia she had. She said she would have medication then forgot to send the prescription. She was happy to have medication.

"Long time to get a diagnosis"

Diagnosed in 2022. It was a long time getting there. I saw them once in 2023. Had a scan and then went and diagnosed. They came to our home to discuss the diagnosis. They gave us a set of numbers to contact if we needed any information or support.

"Rude and unprofessional nurse"

The nurse there is not very professional. Often I have found her rude and uninterested. She is not approachable when she was meant to be there for me to support with my husband's dementia.

"Very good and on top of my appointments"

I attend for Alzheimer's every 6-12 months. They keep on top of my appointments. They're usually really good. They keep us informed and review medication. Very good.

"Lack of communication between services"

They prescribed medication for over a year and the GP called to ask who prescribed it. There is no communication between the two and that is worrying, because there could be a case where medication could clash if they're not talking to each other.

"Changed medication, wait for appointment"

They talked to me here and changed my medication. I waited around 1 month for the appointment. They said it could be an affect from the Alzheimer's as to why I ended up in A&E, and prescribed me the medication to take.

"They discharged her and just gave medication."

Pretty hopeless. They discharged my mom and said she didn't need to be with them anymore. She is on a lot of medication and they prescribed medication for Alzheimer's, when she has Vascular Dementia.

"The waiting times are unacceptable."

I see someone at the Juniper and I don't think they talk to my GP and communicate with each other at all. I don't get that impression. They book 6-12 month appointments and keep them. I recently contacted the bowel and bladder service and they gave me an appointment for the end of the year. But a friend told me about the cancellation service and so we've been given one quicker. I feel like its only because I asked to be on a cancellation list we got one quicker. Otherwise I feel the waiting time are unacceptable in these circumstances.

The nurses are so caring together with psychologists who are excellent. We have a lovely garden we can sit in, in time I hope to be well and more like my old self? Every member of staff are lovely and are there to help you recover.

"Phoning for help and call not being returned"

Phoned the Juniper Centre with concerns about tablets. Told the Dr would get back to me, still waiting for call.
