"They don't take me seriously enough"

Every time I see a different GP. I'm not taken seriously when I discuss undiagnosed PCOS. They don't refer me. There isn't enough support for mental health either. I have only been offered CBT for PTSD which isn't intense or helpful enough for me. The social prescribers there are good and over all it's a good service. The staff are nice too but they just don't take me seriously enough or really look at your notes.

"A good surgery"

A good surgery never had problems getting appointments and had referrals made when needed.

"The service is pretty good"

I have not been at this surgery for long and I have to say that in comparison to the surgery I was previously with, Iridium are far better. I have been able to book an appointment when I needed one and the doctor was very good. I felt that have really listened to my concerns around my mental health and I feel positive about treatment/medication going forward. I have found the receptionists to be quite friendly and helpful too.

You can call or go online to book an appointment. I usually get one. I feel listened to and I am given good care. They were great when I went for some mental health support and they referred me.

"Not a good surgery"

They are not good. I moved here to follow my GP but I never get to see her now. The surgery is very big and I have mobility issues. When they call your name they just disappear back into the room. I also feel that the triage system has stopped me getting appointments.

Really good, no complaints. Easy to get an appointment, ring and send a text message after they've booked it and they send it on badger notes.

"Cancelled on me twice"

On the whole they're very good. I have had a couple of appointments cancelled. It doesn't tell you which nurse can do what online either. If I didn't turn up I would get a message about the cost of not turning up to an appointment. But they can cancel last minute or leave you sitting waiting and then say its cancelled.

"They lost my bloods twice"

They lost my bloods twice. They were told not to keep taking them and they still do and the community midwife is unsympathetic. You don't seem to see the same one either, they're always on leave.

"Not good"

It's not good. You can only discuss one thing at a time. I have 2 or 3 problems and they just say you're okay. They do online booking but it's not easy and takes a long time. I don't thinks its good.

"Pretty good"

Pretty good. They say you can do it online. I tried it once and it was annoying so I phoned up and they do the same day appointments so it's good. You do have to call at 8AM on the dot. The GPs and nurses listen and I don't feel too rushed.

"Our GP is really good"

Our GP is really good. Every time we go there, there aren't any delays, no waiting times. Really good. The GPs are all good but getting an appointment can be hard. Even if you call at 8AM there can be 20 people before you so it can be hard. Sometimes I also get referred to another GP nearby but that's okay as I drive.

"Can't get appointments"

It is always hard to get appointments here. I also have issues when my children are unwell and they refuse to prescribe antibiotics until very late when the symptoms have worsened. They have made us wait 3 days before and told us to only give them paracetamol and ibuprofen.

"Didn't get back to me for an appointment"

Called at 10.39am to request an appointment for my housebound partner who was experiencing severe neuropathic pain following a stroke, received an email with a telephone appointment for 11.30am - from previous experience we knew it could be up to a couple of hours after the appointed time - at 3.20pm when we hadn't received the call I called again and was told the doctor was busy but we would definitely receive a call - no call was received that day - when I called the following morning I was told there had been a partners meeting - clearly more important than an ill patient

"Make it difficult for my partner to access"

I have power of attorney for my partner due to communication and physical difficulties. The surgery make it very difficult for him to seek a clinician of any kind as he needs home visits - this is not noted on his records and we go through the same scenario every time he needs to be seen of them stating that he needs to attend the surgery and me telling them it is not possible and them suggesting I call an ambulance.

I rang at 8:30am, spoke to the receptionist and told her I thought I had a chest infection. They told me to come into the surgery. I saw an advanced nurse practitioner who was confident in their diagnosis , listened to my chest, took my temperature and said it was a chest infection. They asked if it had happened before and asked what I was prescribed, and they gave me medication, steroids, an inhaler and antibiotics.

"Covid changes impact negatively"

Since the pandemic the services have reduced and it appears not been reduced. Service is discriminatory- if u are without a smart phone ( often elderly, poor), without knowledge of tech (older, disabled)want a confidential service ( in a domestic violent situation) or work (not available all the time) then this surgery is not suitable for u and sadly that fits most of us. No 1-1 appointments , yet they will ask u to go in to take things in if they want them. Call back system has no times so expectation is u are available all day, they don’t do video so u have to send photos which for many is difficult. Online system if u can use it is not effective it’s complicated and only for far in advance. They need to review their whole system and think about the patients experience.

"Since Covid, absolutely horrendous"

Since Covid, absolutely horrendous. No appointments what so ever. Online service does not work. Staff are rude ignorant and unhelpful. I had the unfortunate challenge of getting a blood test for my 10 year old child which took 4 days. The receptionist actually sent us to heartlands hospital without a blood test form. This has never been the procedure. Turned up at hospital only to be turned away without the form. This is forcing patients to resort to levels of behaviour which they would never dream of reaching. On that particular day other patients were physically coming into the surgery as a last resort and we’re aggressive.

"Didn't act quickly enough"

Mum in heartland care home. Numerous calls to gps stating my mum was stressed in care home after my dad passing in June. We couldn’t visit. They’d been married 57 years. The queen is lost without her prince, her family can be there for her. Why couldn’t l be there for my mum. For her then to go downhill so stressed diabetes reading sky high. Clearly had an infection, but dr altering her diabetes meds. Reviewing her this went on for weeks. Mum was getting worse. She was on long term antibiotics for water infections. Was bleeding. I wasn’t fully informed until l noticed deterioration in mum care home and gp told me very little, only me noticing her decline. To calling gp numerous times. Then 12 October mum couldn’t breathe, ambulance took here to heartland A&E. The hospital called us in she was end of life. Sepsis. Readings of the scale. My point is gp & care home didn’t act quick enough. I could see my mum was rotting.

"Poor service Dr’s are inconsistent with their"

I’ve suffering with high BP for over a year and have had three 24 hours monitor checks. The surgery have sent me to hospital and they diagnosed High BP and I have been back and fourth with this condition and it has contributed towards other health conditions. Every health care professional is concerned yet the pharmacist overrides any decision to offer me medication. I am at my wits end and yet I have been advised I need to carry out another 24 monitor check before they can make a decision.
I had a blood test today and was offered an MMR booster at which point I would have to book another appointment with a nurse to have it done. I asked her why she was unable to it and she said she was only allowed to do the blood test today. She was so concerned with my BP as it was very high that she booked an urgent appointment to see the in-house pharmacist.

Patient getting blurred vision, feeling tired, exhausted, dry mouth, feeling sick, received call from doctor only to be told OVER THE PHONE without any physical check, there is nothing wrong with me. "They make their own rules (very arrogant)"

On several occasions I have had this surgery tell me of policies that contradict NHS policies. What's worse is how the reception staff insist on the policies even after being told NHS policies or recent change in laws. They then react to me like I was informing them of something outlandish or absurd.

For example, last year in June, they tried to charge me for requesting access to my medical records. When I reminded them that the law states that patients have a right to access their records free of charge, they argued "not in this surgery" and justified it by stating "every surgery has different policies but this is, and always has been, our policy."

In September 2018, I moved to Eastbourne to study at Brighton University. I am back for the summer now and needed the doctor. I was refused, and so, I called my surgery (Enys Rd surgery in Eastbourne). I was told by reception staff that I can request a visitor's temporary registration but they, at Iridium, again said that they do not do this. I had to call Enys road surgery several times and eventually spoke with the manager, Rachel, who informed me that it is their contractual obligation to offer this option to me. Even after telling the reception staff, at Iridium, what I was told, they insisted that this not how it works at Iridium and that they offer no such service. They tried to use the excuse that every surgery has different policies, so I told them that I was already told that this is a policy that applies to all surgeries.

When I asked to speak to a practice manager (as instructed by the manager of Enys rd surgery), I was told that they were not in. Eventually, the staff phoned the manager, then handed handed me a form. I thought this was a temporary registration, but upon asking, they told me it was a full registration. When I called my surgery again, I was advised that if I fill that out, I would have to register all over again in Eastbourne once the new semester begins in September. I was told that I should not have to do that because I should be allowed a visitor's temporary registration. I lost at least one hour and got nowhere.

I would really like to know why Iridium staff are so ignorant about NHS policies, and yet so adamant and argumentative in upholding their illegal policies? I have asked last year, without receiving a response (despite being promised a call back), how do you justify trying to charge me for requesting access to my records?? Had I not known the law on this matter, you would have taken money off me illegally. I wonder how many people were fooled this way. How do you justify wasting more than hour of my time, and constantly sending me away?

On this occasion, I have been unable to see a doctor. Essentially, I have been refused to be seen. I felt like I got punished for being a student. I am sure I am not the only student who goes home for summer. Where are we meant to if we need a doctor?

"Complete lack of understanding or help"

I see specialist clinic in Nottingham every 6-9 months, I live in Birmingham. Have been trying to set up a shared care agreement and the process of receiving prescribed medication. I should have been taking medication since I left Uni of last year in June 2017 but it took between then and April 2018 just to get registered at this GP Clinic.

Since then I have been refused treatment for various reasons in the following order:
- The specialist clinic should prescribe the medication, not the GP.
- Following a letter from specialist clinic to the GP the excuse was the treatment isn't funded.
- Most recent excuse (December 2018) they don't have the training and are unwilling to help and told me no other GP will despite this specialist clinic clearly instructing the process.

I should be taking prescribed medication for atleast a year and 6 months but I haven't had any in that time because of these issues. There has been a total lack of interest in helping me.

This doesn't include the difficulty to get through via the phone to arrange an appointment or the fact that its pot luck which doctor you see. Reception staff told me a few weeks ago I can't pre-arrange appointments and upon telling them why I was trying to see a specific doctor being the reason for pre-arranging the appointment I was told it wasn't an emergency and I couldn't even ring at 8am in the morning for an appointment either.

I'm stuck in a situation where I should be receiving treatment but not and haven't been directed to a GP that will.

"Poor service"

Very difficult to get an appointment. Reception staff is rude and think as they are doctors (ask too many questions). Phone number is always busy. Different doctors seen on all the appointments, makes it difficult for me as I have to explain everything over and over again (they never read notes and mess up with medication). Same is for nurse, she used same needle for different areas and I had to stop her.
