"Getting an appointment is always difficult"
Tell us to book online. Getting an appointment is always difficult.
Tell us to book online. Getting an appointment is always difficult.
The pharmacy is good. I order repeats and it's ready for collection within a couple of days.
It takes a long time to get through to them. It's a long process to fill in forms and takes a while to get back to you and then you don't feel like asking or bothering.
It's hard to try getting appointments for anything minor like suffering with headaches. It's hard to get referrals too. They don't seem to help you that much. It's not that accessible.
It is hard to get appointments sometimes. They don't pick up the telephone calls and it is hard online to get an appointment. You have to call the next day when they say it is fully booked. You just have to wait for an appointment to become available.
I can book appointments online and on the phone. I can get emergency appointments with them. They look after my diabetes and the staff are good and respectful.
Appointments used to be very bad but now everything is online its improved. If you can't use the internet there's no point for those people. I don't use them that often.
Unbelievably incompetent and unhelpful
My sister got an appointment after trying for 3 weeks. Very poor service.
It takes a long time to get through.
Was on the phone for 50 mins, call was never answered, kept saying I was number 1 in queue.
It's better than before, it's easier to contact my GP since the new system was implemented. The GPs are really good and so are the receptionists.
They were good, they would always see me. I never had any issues.
The pharmacy is good and have my medication and they get them sent. They're always polite and friendly.
They're okay but you talk to a different GP each time and they have different opinions which isn't helpful. I was having breathing difficulties and they refused to give me an appointment. So I called 111.
They're average, sometimes you can't get an appointment. When you ring your number 27 in the queue and then put through to a different line. You wait a long time and then it cuts off. Sometimes when you get seen, they're alright but some of them are rude and then the GP tells me I'm late.
A nightmare, I can't get appointments and it's different doctors. It's very stressful. I select a call back and they never do or they put the phone down on you.
The pharmacy inside is good. Very well stocked. Well informed chemists.
A doctor in handsworth medical centre told me ive had acute liver issues then since then ive fount out she works with the mother of my kids mother to make sure i don't get treated
The telephone appointment system is awful. I call at 8AM on the dot and I'm number 80 in the queue. By the time you get a call back all appointments are gone. You can't walk in for appointments. Also child anxiety concerns are not dealt with promptly. You have to wait months to get support.
The pharmacy attached here is very good. I have used them many times and they're never too busy.
They're good. Never any issues with them. I went a couple of weeks ago for blood tests and I was seen on time. It was easy for me to arrange and they followed up with the results quickly. They called me not long after.
Hospital discharge letter requesting GP to arrange endoscopy. GP told me, "No, you'll have to start from scratch with me". I've been asking for help for 15 years with menopause symptoms. However, after an operation I was prescribed iron tablets by the hospital consultant where dosage is dependent upon menopause status. GP asked if I had gone through the menopause. I said I didn't know because I use Mirena coil with no period for over 25 years. Initially GP refused me a blood test. Then said would call me back when he'd checked whether I should have a blood test. I was then given blood test. However, I still struggle with menopause symptoms for which the GP refuses help.
Prescription Review. This was done by the GP's/Medical Centre Pharmacist. There is a trend in parts of the medical community to remove Prescription pain medications from patients. This was initiated by a group of psychologists who have given many lectures, written papers and podcasts on the matter. Which is basically, 'Mind over Matter'. This is that the body is overreacting to pain or perceived pain. This can be seen by patients, at best ill-conceived and at worst, 'gaslighting' and trivialising the lives of patients living with pain. I nonetheless was prepared for the appointment as this has now become an unacceptable trend with this GP service.
The Pharmacist went through my prescription list (14 medications). The first was a pain medication and the Pharmacist spent some time (5 minutes) talking about the medication. The Pharmacist was patronising and bullying. I was asked several times if I had read the medication leaflet. I finally explained my job role and post graduate qualifications and that I could not only read the leaflet but fully understand it. Pharmacist then quickly went through the other medications until they got to another pain medication. The Pharmacist did the same again. I explained what debilitating conditions they treated and that they were prescribed by an NHS Pain Management Consultant. I would not have been able to go to work or even get out of bed on most days without these medications. We finished the list.
I told the Pharmacist that I was having reactions to a blood thinner and could I be referred to a specialist. The Pharmacist said no. I said that I did ask the receptionist whether the Pharmacist had the GP Practices' authority to refer me to a specialist if necessary to which I was assured of. I did request a GP for the prescription Review because I was having issues with the blood thinners. I informed the Pharmacist that this particular blood thinners (using the Pharmacist's own words regarding the pain medications on my list) Is 'very dangerous'. The Pharmacist then stated they would get a GP to call me. A GP phoned 3 days later and agreed the referral to haematology.
Very busy and difficult to get an appointment. The GPs and nurses are excellent though.
I was previously registered here but it was too far from my home so I changed GP. I never had any issues when I went as I didn't have to use them often but they were good. Just too far away.
They need to be more efficient in answering the telephone. They need to go back to the systems they had before covid.
The pharmacy staff are very friendly here and also very helpful.
I can never get an appointment and GPs are not helpful. When they see you they rush through the things. They don't try to engage or listen to you.
They don't answer the phone or reply back to emails. I always have an issue with repeat prescriptions.
Over the years they have provided excellent care and treatment. The GPs and nurses are amazing.
Reception staff very polite friendly and helpful as ever.
Health Care professional so careful and attentive as she always is. Thank you.
The pharmacy here is excellent. Excellent staff.
Very busy at all times. I just can't get an appointment to see my GP. Reception staff are rude.
Always have to wait for a week to get an appointment. GPs are very nice and helpful.
They take a long time and are very slow.
They're much better than my old GP practice. They will see me and make appointments as and when they can.
It's very hard to get appointments as the waiting time is very long. I did a video call with my doctor, which was fine.
Difficulty in getting them on the phone. No consistency with GPs. Every time there is a new face. The reception needs more training.
Upon my discharge from a 4 night hospital stay I was requested by the hospital consultant to contact my GP to request colonoscopy. I had a telephone appointment with a GP and 'attempted' to explain the situation. Firstly, the GP kept interrupting me when I was talking... I explained I was in hospital whilst on holiday in Cornwall. I explained the treatment received, diagnosis and prognosis. Unfortunately, I had to ask the GP to allow me the opportunity to, 'talk, insofar as to read the discharge letter'. The GP retorted, abruptly, "Well you gonna have to start from scratch with ME!!". I was left in tears. I submitted a written complaint to the GP practice. This was last October. I am still waiting for the colonoscopy! The GP was very rude towards me and in fact the hospital consultant as it was their discharge letter (request).
They are hard to get an appointment with. They did see my daughter and referred her to the dermatology. They originally referred to Sandwell but they said there would be a 35 week wait so I called and asked if there was a shorter wait somewhere else and they gave us a cancellation appointment.
The pharmacy at the surgery is very good and helpful. Good advice and they get medication ready quickly too.
Difficult to get appointments and they send me to other surgeries which I cannot get to. I don't know if they have changed their policy as it used to be easy to get appointments.
My GP picked up the symptoms for the stroke quickly and referred me to the hospital urgently.
Very satisfied with the GP service. I can walk in and get an appointment. They are very good.
They're okay, well the doctors are okay when you get to see one that is. They don't assist over the phone. It's hard to get through and hard to see the same doctor.
Registering with them was pretty seamless and getting an appointment works well. They offer nurse or doctor which works for me. Good access, polite staff, great.
It's hard to get appointments over the phone. You can't go there and make an appointment it all takes too long. I end up taking myself to A&E because if I am sick, I'm sick. I'm not waiting around to get sicker.
The GP's are like ghosts, you cannot see them nowadays.
Quite hard. I phoned early in the morning and they may or may not have an appointment. They tell me to go to the walk in centre. It's hard if you need a blood test. You don't know if you will get through to make an appointment. Doctors are amazing and treat you well. It's just waiting times for appointments.
I was not diagnosed properly and had to go to A&E.
Very helpful and satisfied by the care provided to me and my family.
They are quite okay whenever I have gone to see them.
Not good in general but for a particular issue they were good. They advise us to call at 8am, number 25 in the queue and won't make advanced appointments. Call back and they said they'd refer us onto the chest clinic. In general I struggle for myself and my kids.
Difficult to get an appointment but they have an amazing staff.
Very difficult to get an appointment they are very slow in response all the time.
I have been a patient at this surgery for over 25 years and have always found the GPs to offer excellent patient care and support. They actually listen and try to address patients concerns. They are also willing to refer patients where necessary. It can be difficult to get an appointment but this is true of the majority of surgeries due to external pressures.
Tried to arrange blood tests, said I would need to wait for a CTP to arrange that and couldn’t do myself. They will never call me back or send a message telling to come for blood tests. Son was sick called the GP and they said they will call in 30 minutes. It took 2 to 3 hours to call back. So ended up taking him to walk in centre.
Difficult if you call, stay on line for 1 hour. Can’t pre book have to keep calling all the time.
They are good. I had skin condition and they gave me tablets, creams, conditioner and shampoo’s. gave information on how to use it and how long to use it and to go back for an follow-up appointment to see how it is healing.
They're not good. I've been waiting 6 months for an appointment at the hospital. It takes ages to get through and get appointments. It's really hard. They are really not good.
It does take a while to get through sometimes and because of the many doctors, you don't see the same one all of the time. I've had a long term issue which I don't feel they are treating me properly for.
Recently suffered a heart attack and need to able to access healthcare quickly. Downloaded the app to avoid the stress of phoning at 8am. No appointments available through the app. I tried to send them a message through the app but the practice has disabled messages.
I'm quite tech savvy and believe that they deliberately making it difficult for patients to contact them. No email address supplied for practice manager.
Delay with appointments. Clean and quite however don’t allow patients to come in regularly. Good communication and interaction.
Hard to get appointments sometimes, which puts everyone's health at risk. But when I do get through, they are really good. To speak to them just takes a while.
It's really difficult to get an appointment. Trying to get a repeat prescription is also difficult even though the pharmacy is on site. The communication is not good. You call up and the queues on the phone are too long, they need more staff. They are however good when you get through.
Is it customary for patients to wait on the phone in a queue over one hour, the Gp phone number isn’t a free phone. I’ve now been waiting over an hour it starts at bein in the queue over 30 & over an hour later I’m at position no28, how is this legally possible to run up my phone bill because I need my medication sorting out.
I went for appointment for my twin daughters and interpreter was not booked and I needed interpreter for myself because as a father I want to know what’s going on.
I went for diabeties and heart review and booked interpreter 2 weeks before going for an appointment but when I reached for appointment there was no interpreter. This has happened 3 times.
I have been a patient at this surgery over 20+yrs & in the last 10yrs standards are down the toilet. Today for example, I rang for a Gp call back at 8:20am & my call wasn’t answered for 40mins, THEN I was told there’s no more appointments & I’m to call back after 3 o’clock, I’m now on the phone 1hr 25mins, this is NOT normal OR acceptable. I’ve been soo loyal to the surgery but it’s wearing thin.
Can’t queue up. You have to phone them to make an appointment, then they call back. It takes long to get through to the GP. Give 3 calls to make sure.
They have introduced appointment by phone only, It starts @ 8:00 am. I have rang @ 08:00 on 3 consecutive days, I get placed in Queue, they ring back to say all appointments have gone. No idea how many appointments they actually have as you cannot ring any earlier and all appointments are gone even when you are placed in queue @ 08:00. Why cant they give appointments for following day.
I have to go all the way here to get a blood test. It's such a hassle and so far away. Needs to be something quicker.
Not been great. Told to ring at 8am in the morning and its taken months for a blood test. They use the telephone system as an excuse.
Very difficult to get an appointment all the time. Long wait on phone and line drops after 45 mins.
Very difficult to get an appointment, trying to get an appointment since 2 weeks, with no luck.
Really good. They have helped me a lot over the past few months. There is some difficulty getting through on the phones. Sometimes I would rather go to the surgery and wait for an appointment, but you can’t do this. But they are good.
It's okay, I can get appointments but it can take a long time for my children and myself.
I have stood in a queue at half seven to be told at 8 there’s no gp on site. It’s demeaning. If I call by telephone there aren’t any appointments. I work so I can’t stand in line. No leeway for those that work and have family.
Even if I call at 8am, by the time the call is answered after an hour or more, there are never any appointments left. There are no online appointments and the econsult form is no longer available.
I knew something was wrong and said so but wasn’t listened to and each doctor that I spoke to was different and wouldn’t read the history of my calls and would see each call as a separate one because it was a different doctor
I have only been here twice, they have a call back service. I can get appointments and they also run various clinics such as diabetes and respiratory.
I can't get to see them basically, they want to diagnose me over the phone. For months the GP won't see me. The urgent care centre say's I need to see my GP but I can't see my GP.
It's really terrible, can't get an appointment, you call and have to wait for an hour and there are no appointments. They have started using this system where you go to the surgery to wait. People go as early as 6:30am and there is a queue and you can still be told there are no appointments. A lot of the elders have given up getting appointments there because they can't travel there. There is no communication with patients, telling us they are changing or making changes. They offer online bookings but that is not accessible to everyone. When you finally do see a doctor, you can only discuss one thing. They cut you off if you start talking about another discussion. We are considering going private for my dad because he has conditions that when they flare up, they need to see him.
They can do ECG's on me but refused to look at my ears because they are not qualified. But they are on the umbrella list for procedures of that service.
I have a 22 month old baby and can't get an appointment. I can at 8am and can't get through. It doesn't even ring. Doctors say they are not qualified to do certain procedures, like my ears which I used to get done at Boots, but that's closed. Who are we meant to trust. Hand and mouth disease was diagnosed by my pharmacist because I couldn't get into my doctors. I am being told to see my doctors, but I can't get through.
I am a recovering cancer patient and can never get anyone at this facility to answer the phone.. When I get a ride to the facility all I get is "we're all booked for today. Call at 8am in the morning " Ridiculous!! THEY do not answer the phone..
Joined the queue for callback at 8.40am on Friday. No callback received. I called again at 3pm and selected a different option and managed to get through to a human being. She gave me a 3hr callback window for the following Saturday (9 to 12pm)- over a wk later or said I can callback or come and join queue on Monday morning (I work). Joined queue again today and received a callback. Explained why I was calling and was immediately told there was nothing until Saturday - I said my daughter needs tests on her heart and needs to be referred by a GP after taking her to hospital twice last week. She said they'll discuss in their huddle and I MAY receive a callback after 1pm. No suprise it's nearly 5pm and I haven't received a callback. I am baffled as to why this surgery is still operating and will now be putting in an official complaint. I won't be surprised if I don't receive a callback on Saturday either and I don't even know if that will be doctor or will I still have to bring her in to the surgery.
Impossible to get an appointment. Been trying for six weeks. If you get through all the appoint for today have gone. " Book me in for tomorrow then". "Can't do that ring back at 8.00am". No eConsult form as they've turned this facility off "to manage the number of requests" (!). Phone is the only way. Medication has run out and can't get repeat until I've seen a doctor. Can't see a doctor until I have an appointment. Currently been on hold since 8.00am (it's now 11:13). Having to take annual leave to phone as I can't do this at work.
This has got steadily worse and if I'm not in a unique position then this must put the viability and safety of the Practice into doubt.
Getting an appointment is next to impossible. now they've closed the online form to request a call back. The receptionists are useless. They never give you the correct information and move extremely slowly. Despite the fact that most places have gone back to normal working, they insist on closing the surgery and you have to stand outside and try and speak through a barely open window which means if you go for a rare face to face appointment you end up being late. It's puzzling why they insist on doing this when inside is equipped to deal with patients and there is glass between the reception and and patients. They need to resolve this issue and stop using the pandemic as an excuse to treat patients poorly.
The doctors and nurses are very good but you will never get a appointment the receptionist are wast of time move and speak in slow motion they are a joke and whoever is in charge has not done anything to fix it, probably employing family and friends
This surgery does have a few really good doctors if you are select as the chosen one, you are extremely lucky (also has a couple of extremely bad Doctors as well....avoid Dr 'I' if possible as she is beyond rubbish). The appointment system is awful and doesn't make sense. In a nut shell, to get an appointment, you are required to call from 8am (along with the rest of the world....or so it feels like it). My record stands at 365 calls before i got though to request a call back from a doctor. Things should be going back to normal after the pandemic, but you still have to call to request an initial call back first to be assessed to have a appointment in the actual surgery. Most of the reception staff soooo look as though they hate their job and don't have any customer service skills at all. They do look absolutely worn out. (There is actually one proper decent one). The atmosphere in the surgery is gloomy and it looks a bit worn. We the patient are not asking for the world we just need you to make the appointment system easier, treat us like humans and with respect and listen to the patient so you can diagnose us properly. we get told not to go to A and E but of patient are just getting the service and are not being seen. What are we supposed to do. Modality sort it out.
Excellent service using app during pandemic. Telephone consultations with practitioners easy and helpful. Much better than going via receptionist. Prior to pandemic visiting practice could be unpleasant. Queue to check in. Aggressive reception staff because they are stressed, having to help diverse population with many different languages spoken. Some patients aggressive and demanding. Waiting room experience poor, tv screen intrusive, children allowed to run free by some parents, area too small. Medical staff excellent.
Appear to be constantly changing on line contact I currently have 3 apps. Now I go through on line to the surgery - no notification of changes - message always speak to surgery when I have done this it’s met with I will look in to why it does not work. Can I book ... no you have to phone in ... I am already talking to you! Filled in complaint on line and sent to a paid service even though I didn’t know if I needed that service. I wanted to speak to a Dr. I paid for the service, when did they stop referring to hospital ? No education on changes at surgery. They are our service provider ?
Prize Draw Data
Telephone lines are always busy, you can never get through, cannot obtain appointment, looking for new surgery.worst service ever! God only knows how the elderly folks manage...
Osteoarthritis in knees and lower spine. Progressively worsening over past 5 years. Numerous 'telephone' appointments as GPS refuse face to face. Now GPS avoiding telephone appointments. Takes between 30 minutes to 1 hour 20 minutes, constantly pressing redial from 0800 hrs to speak to a receptionist. You may then be offered a same day telephone appointment being stage 1 of the sifting system seemingly now in place. GPS do everything to avoid offering a face to face which is the next stage. I have had numerous xrays and MRIs over recent years that had identified substantial wear and tear in my right knee. Unable to bear weight on this knee the other knee has been overcompensating, resulting in the same in the left knee. I completed an, 'E Consult form, detailing my inability to stand without experiencing such severe pain that I am drenched in sweat, feel nauseous and faint. I requested: a call back/ phone consultation with a GP; referral to orthopaedic surgeon; and wheelchair assessment. A GP responded via email: instructing me to contact the hospital to chase my rheumatologist referral which is nothing to do with my arthritic knees. That was the GP response.
This practice is beyond disgraceful it is extremely difficult to get in contact with you never get a call back their online call back service does not work and the reception staff are rude and you can hardly understand them
The Doctors are very good but the reception staff are rude and unhelpful.
They have no care for their patients
They have no care for their patients
We called to arrange a call back, admin would not allow the call to be taken on a different phone despite us explaining the caller herself has no use in both hands/arms at present thus better on her mums phone!! As a result the call was not made or received and the client was left without a call!
Admin staff must be trained with listening skills to respect the sick as persons will only contact if they are sick/ need to.
Trying to book an appointment is a nightmare, phone lines are constantly busy, not even any online appointments available. this practice show no empathy to patients. what are patients suppose to do if can get hold of no one, what is the point of this practice when doctors are not even there.
NEVER BLOODY ANSWER THEIR PHONE, THE NUMBER DOESN'T EVEN WORK AT LEAST UP DATE YOUR CONTACT NUMBER!!!
Due to government requesting over 70's and high risk groups to self isolate I request support to do this. What a waste of time. After 3 phone calls, I got 1 months medication leaving me at high risk of being a fatality in high risk group. Am so discusted with the lack of support to facilitate this. Will be contacting the surgery to take this further. What a disgrace.
Everytime I have tried to call in either their telephone does not work or it is continuously busy. I have been trying everyday for a week now and cannot make it for their 8-8:30am walk in as I have a two year old.
When u phone they never answer and when they do they say sorry all appointment are gone within 10 mins
Whenever I try to contact them you can never get an answer in the phone. You could be waiting upto an hour to get through even then your problem doesn't get solved. Tried to access online portal even that keeps reading error. Spoke to a member of staff and they didn't know anything about it. Absolutely shambolic.
Oh but you can’t call them back because the phone is off the hook. Request a call back at 9:50 it’s 10:15 and NOTHING. I am stressed I am flipping angry I booked an appointment yesterday, as they told me months ago they only release appointments on the day only to find the appointment is next fudging week. I cannot stand this medical centre. Sick of these doctors taking home a flipping wage for sweet nothing
I went for a vaccination appointment just to be told that i can't get the vaccine
I could no get through each time, whenever calling the surgery it said user busy for a bout an hour. When booking online the doctors did not call either, leaving me without an appointment for even longer. Reception staff did not help and we’re rude
They just give you pain killers and go. If they don't work they give yoh stronger stuff
RECEPTION STAFF UNFRIENDLY - WOULD NOT BOOK APPOINTMENT. WITH THE DOCTOR I WOULD LIKE TO SEE - KEPT SAYING NO APPOINTMENT AVAILABLE
The doctor was very rude, aggressive and dismissive even though she was the one who turned up 40 mins late and we had to wait. The reception is ridiculously disorganised with people not communicating and nor do they know what they’re doing. To make matters worse, you can’t call the reception. All calls are diverted to a call centre however, one 4 different occasions I’ve been waiting over an hour and still couldn’t get through which begs the question, does this call centre exist?
Been on repeat prescription for 14 months (28 day supply). Every single month they forget to do. Every month I have to chase prescriptions, between the doctor and the pharmacist. I have actually seen the pharmacist fax it to the practice but they say they haven't got it. For last 3 weeks I have had to have 7 days emergency supply of my medication. Can't handle basic repeat prescriptions.
I have given them at least 7 change of address forms and they still haven't updated it, I've actually handed the physical form to the receptionist.
Very kind and reassuring and non-judgmental. Easy to get an appointment without big fuss.
I can't book appointments online as I don't have enough memory on my phone for the app. Getting appointments is hit and miss. When you at 8 am you get through, and when you do, all the appointments are gone. Some of the receptionists are really pleasant but with some you feel you are just bothering them. They can be sometimes rude. Doctors seem really good.
Better than other treatment I have received from GP’s for mental health support. Health care professionals not surprisingly, but disappointingly, don’t seem to have a good understanding of depression. Other than that it means prescribing antidepressants and referring to a mental health service that offers some sort of therapy. I have had worse GP did not know what the leading mental health charity “Mind” was. Didn’t feel completely listened to and GP made assumptions. Good in terms of medication prescribed, increased when needed and monitored. Extreme difficulty in making appointments with surgery, waiting 45 / 50 mins when you are depressed and have no motivation is not good enough.
Moving from Birmingham to Coventry and back to Birmingham, I had no continuity of care for my mental health and had to start all over with referrals / explaining myself. Also no united understanding of high functioning autism / Asperger
It is very difficult to get an appointment as a student at BCU, as you can only book an appointment by calling Handsworth Wood Medical Centre. However, they rarely answer the phone and when I have left voicemails I have never received a phone call back. It is not easy to go to the medical centre itself, so my only option is to call which often does not work and is a waste of time.
It has gone downhill. Modality has brought this surgery to it's lowest level yet. Some Doctors (Not ALL) cannot cope with so many patients are prone to forgetting, misdiagnosing, assuming, lack of care & attention to patients, refusing to talk about more than one complaint per visit because MODALITY set that preference. So if you have 5 complaints you have to make 5 appointments or 2 double & 1 single appointment, concidering you cannot get through to the reception to book an appointment because everyone is told to ring at 8.30am & then when you get through an appointment is weeks away. There are too many patients at this surgery. I wonder if anyone from Modality is registered here. It is a shame this once fabulous surgery has come to what it has now. Absolute chaotic management. Needs a thorough inspection & I shall be forwarding all the reviews & complaints on Google & here. I have too many complaints to share here!
The GP refers trans people to gender clinics knowing they will have to wait at least two years for hormone therapy. They should prescribe bridging hormone so trans people can get hormone therapy while waiting as its essential for their mental health.
takes far too long to get through and speak to staff and very difficult to get an appointment.nearly all time I have to ring for a same day appointment at very short notice.
