"Good during pregnancy & for children"

It can be very difficult to get appointments for myself but it has been quite easy to get appointments that are pregnancy related. I have also never had any problems getting appointments for my children.

"Can't access them"

It's very difficult to get an appointment. You call in the morning and the appointments have all gone. They say go online but I find that difficult or there are no options. What do they want us to do if we can't see a GP or the receptionists are blocking us from getting appointments.

"Rubbish surgery"

Rubbish. I could never get hold of them or see them to get an appointment. They just fob you off. Receptionist will say it sounds like it's viral and I think well where is your medical degree then.

"Can't get help and support"

I have tried to speak to the GP for my mental health. I don't trust them though. I asked for help but they are no help. It's a headache to make appointments. You can book online but you have to wait days and still don't get any help. I have changed GPs a few times but everywhere seems to be the same.

"They're getting worse"

Not very good. I can't understand why when you ring up you get someone asking a lot of questions on the phone and then they say they will ring you back, which they did after an hour. I think they're getting worse.

"Terrible support"

With a BMI of 46, with high blood pressure and being told I needed to take statins, my GP told me I was not able to have mounjaro or wegovy. Very short sighted in my opinion, he also suggested it would probably be 10 years or more before it would be available on the NHS. I have limited funds but have rearranged my finances to fund mounjaro privately, things I was doing to help my mental health have had to stop to help fund this, my mental health is now suffering. The support is terrible.

"Absolutely rubbish"

They are absolutely rubbish. The appointment system is hard to access, those who are not tech savvy or do not speak good English must really struggle. They are good at making contact initially but there is a lack of continuity and follow up. I also recently noticed they have no toilets downstairs and this isn't signposted which may cause issues.

"Difficult to make appointments"

No good. You try to call and you're calling for half an hour and then they tell you to go on the website to make an appointment. It feels like you have to take care of yourself. They tell you to take paracetamol. I have high blood pressure and they don't prescribe anything. You call and you don't hear back from them.

"Appalling"

I had a procedure done at Solihull Hospital last week. I've got an open wound that need dressing changed daily, was unable to get appointment with the surgery for a nurse to change the packing/dressing.
Was advised to go to South Birmingham Urgent Treatment Centre, 40 minutes away from my surgery. Disgusting aftercare treatment.

"Mixed midwife care"

I don't contact them much but when I do they are very helpful in general. I did recently have an issue where I couldn't contact the midwife and it just kept going through to voicemail which I found very difficult. My midwife seems as though she is just ticking the boxes. When she was on leave the cover was great and they were very informative.

"Told me to contact them in 4 weeks"

I needed to see my GP to discuss stronger pain relief for my osteoarthritis, along with test results suggesting I should be taking statins and metformin. I followed the surgery’s orders and completed their (inappropriate) online form. I advised that I did not require an urgent appointment but a routine one. The reply was that yes I did need to see the GP (triaged by a GP) but they didn’t have any appointments and to get in touch again in 3-4 weeks.

"Want to speak to someone knowledgeable"

You keep going through different channels and you can't get through to talk to someone. Then you don't speak to anyone medical you have to explain it to someone and they pass it on so you just don't know how much they are told. I want to get through to someone who knows what they're talking about. They have put me on repeat prescription that I don't need. Eventually after asking them they cancelled it. The GP blame the pharmacy and vice versa.

"I can't use the online system."

Horrible. It's gone from bad to worse. The receptionists don't deal with appointments, you have to go online. I can't use it that well so I would rather speak to someone. Then you do call and you have to discuss the problem with a receptionist. I don't want to tell them my issue, especially when it's a male receptionist and your discussing women's issues. I'm not precious about it but they are only going to check with a doctor to see if I can have an appointment so why I can't I just speak the doctor myself. They don't give suitable appointment times either.

"The doctor wouldn't see me face to face"

I very recently have had a sore throat that has not improved with self medication. Went to a pharmacy, very unwell (lethargic, fever, faint, etc) simply to purchase more Strepsils. However, I must have stood out with how unwell I looked as I was approached by the person behind the pharmacy counter who asked if they could help. I ended up being prescribed antibiotics under the Pharmacy First scheme. Unfortunately the antibiotics never really helped and I continued to deteriorate once the course of antibiotics was completed. I contacted by GP practice by telephone at 8.30am (as I have a long term health condition) to see if I could get an appointment. The answer was NO. I was told that as I had a sore throat to go back to a pharmacy and be seen under the Pharmacy First scheme or alternatively if I didn't want to do that a GP could prescribe another course of the antibiotics the pharmacy had prescribed (however the GP wouldn't see me, prescription would be sent direct to pharmacy). I was too unwell to go out at this stage and opted for another course of the same antibiotics. Then later I received a call from the GP practice saying that a GP had looked at my medical records and decided after all that I should be seen face to face. So off I went to my GP practice.
It turns out that the antibiotics I was initially prescribed under Pharmacy First were for tonsillitis. I didn't have tonsillitis I had a throat infection. So if I hadn't been seen face to face and the GP insisted I go back to Pharmacy First I would have been again prescribed the wrong antibiotics and my health further deteriorated possibly ending up in hospital.
Coupled with the fact that the GP I then saw at the GP practice asked me if I had any allergies and when I told him what they were he insisted that I was wrong (even though my medical records list what I had told him) and that I must be allergic to Amoxicillin. I had to insist that I wasn't to which he said he would take no responsibility if anything happened to me. I have never been allergic to Amoxicillin. After the course of Amoxicillin I have fully recovered

"You are left to suffer for weeks."

It was difficult to get an appointment in terms of the appointment was booked four weeks after requesting an appointment cause an outbreak of recurrent eczema is not urgent. So you're left to suffer for a number of weeks with no treatment or steroids in distress no matter how much you plead with the surgery that you are in pain. When I saw the experienced GP he had no interest in what I had to say, can confidently say he treated me as if I was crazy, dismissed all my concerns, the misogyny was rife. Ended up having further appointments to treat my eczema all because this one GP was to bone idle and misogynistic to even listen to me.

"Terrible, disgraceful"

I have a health issue which needs immediate attention but never get to see the doctor.
Anima hasn't got "Book an appointment" tab but you can cancel an appointment.
No practice manager.
When you call in to the surgery it's normal to be holding for an hour or more. When you do get through you have to give all your information and symptoms to the receptionist, who then talks to the doctor on your behalf and then receptionist will put whatever he/she wants to put on system. As on my notes the receptionist put that I refused to take the appointment(lie) and second time she told me that doctor will call back but on my notes she put that she advised me to call 111.
Absolutely disgraceful.

"System does not sit well with me"

It's very difficult to get an appointment. When you call in to the surgery it's normal to be holding for an hour or more. When you do get through you have to give all your information and symptoms to the receptionist, who then talks to the doctor on your behalf, who then makes the decision about either seeing you or speaking to you. This system does not sit well with me. If the receptionist talks to the doctor on my behalf why can I just not talk to the doctor directly and free up the receptionists time. Sometimes the doctor will call back but you are only given a rough time estimate which then makes it difficult ensuring that you are available and somewhere that you can talk in private. When you call at 8.30am (when the lines open) if its non urgent you are told to call back at 10am but by then all the appointments have gone on urgent patients. The practice often makes changes to the system of booking in which makes things very confusing and they do not inform you of the changes which makes them hard to keep up with. The reception staff and Doctors are generally very nice and helpful but getting in and being treated by an actual doctor is the difficulty. I have to take regular medication but they will not put them on a repeat prescription meaning that every 28 days I have to try and get an appointment to get a prescription so every month I have to go through this horrible frustrating process and honestly the experience is very very poor.

"All for show never about the patients"

This practice is majorly over subscribed, if you can’t use the internet then you’re stuffed because reception have a one line dismissive statement telling you to just phone or go online don’t know what they are there for. You can never ever get an appointment here. When you try online they email you and say nothing available for the next three weeks try asking again then for the following three weeks-so what a 6-9 week turnaround time for an apt?
I ended up going private because I couldn’t cope with pain levels despite me breaking down in surgery management don’t care. Apparently the partner drs been off sick for some time so they don’t care, got told now they do have Apts if you are happy to be televised as they’re part of a tv show which I declined I don’t need the whole of the uk seeing my personal medical problems. I have cried so much at this practice I’ve just given up now and I go private because it’s too mentally exhausting to battle every time. Been at the practice over 3 years never had a diabetic review again went private got prescribed something and was told they wouldn’t train me on how to inject myself because I went private the consultant should. I ended up having surgery last year and needed daily dressing changes and was told no nurse apts as they had ALL been given the same time off- when you see the size of this practice and management and staffing you really do wonder where is all the nhs funding they are getting going?

"Too many mistakes, excuses and general bad service"

Too many issues with reception to list here. They are incompetant rude and show a complete lack of care and professionalism. The doctor was wonderful but despite his request for me to make a follow up appointment to discuss tests, reception staff, poor ineffective phone system and an obstructive unhelpful 'it's not our fault' attitude from the entire non clinical team, makes it impossible to achieve what the doctor wanted, and therefore my test results and ongoing investigations remain unsolved. Combine this with many other poor service issues, and when I complain about the service, reception staff badmouth me to other patients in the queue. These people should never work in a care giving environment!!! One star given ONLY because I couldn't give none.

"Difficult to Book BSL Interpreters"

Being born deaf and relying on BSL Interpreter to help with communication in health situation is very stressful.

With my medication (BP / Heart and eye disease) I can’t phone my surgery without any hassle, even with help from Typetalk on Minicom machine. To avoid that I make a journey uphill to the surgery to order prescription. Although I use computer for emails I am not confident with online.

Booking a BSL Interpreter at the surgery for doctor’s appointment is not straightforward as I don’t see it happening on the spot. There have been times when I have turned up for appointments and interpreter hasn't turned up or hasn't been booked - Therefore it's either cancel the visit to doctor til another time which could be three weeks wait or face the doctor thus in ten mins which is impossible to cover with all the writing between Dr and me!

To be fair some staff are deaf aware and friendly but those who are not could do with short deaf awareness course, and that also it includes new doctors.

"Average"

It is hard to get through to them. I try both the phone and the online option. My issue is that you wait ages to get through to them when you call, and then they say they will call you back, and then they ask you to send pictures. It's a very long process and can take weeks at times. And then, when you finally get an appointment and you go in to the surgery, the waiting room is empty which is weird. I haven't seen a doctor for a long time, I have just seen nurses for blood tests and a specialist asthma nurse for my COPD.
