"Rude Arrogant receptionist! Multiple occasions"

Receptionist had the cheek to tell me how to save my “pennies” as a mother who works hard it’s coming up to Christmas and I’m struggling to reach the FTB centre, all I asked was for a phone call consultation as I can’t afford an £8 bus journey into town!!!

So rude! Not only that but in person they had the audacity to tell me that they can’t do their job if I don’t bring paperwork with the name of the Dr I’m seeing… just pure laziness if you ask me they sit in-front of a computer system which tells them everything.

After being with different teams over the years this is by far the worst and most unsupported team around!

Sort it out!

"Receptionist is horrible"

Professionals are great. But if you're trying to get through to the professionals the receptionist is rude and unhelpful. When you feel like you're in crisis and you ring for support she fobs you off! No empathy or consideration for the role she is in at all!!!

"Horrendous waiting lists"

The waiting list is horrendous. She isn't comfortable with male psychologists. She now has to wait for a female one.

"Go Private"

I personally would give this place 0 stars for Oaklands centre & Crisis Team/Forward Thinking BIrmingham
Crisis team got me arrested!
In regards to the crisis team when they visited you they would always forget to note down your concerns. There is no communication from the doctor at Oaklands nor the Crisis team. The crisis team showed me no care for my wellbeing and sometimes made me feel worse by telling me I was not doing enough to get better. The crisis team did not come to my aid when in crisis and often left to ambulance or police to aid me instead. Because the crisis team didn't help me I often reached out to charities.
...and the charities called 999 ambulance or police.

The Oaklands and the crisis team did not support me via any follow ups knowing I came back from A&E on multiple occasions due to suicide attempts.

When the doctor at oaklands puts in place a certain number of home visits for the week the crisis team would immediately change it the next day. Due to multiple A&E visits this led to frustration from the police's team seeing me as a regular as they were called out to 136 under the mental health act.

When having a major crisis, the crisis team never vouched for me, nor informed the first aid responders that I was depressed or suicidal. In fact I learnt that the crisis team's doctor behind my back was telling first aid responders like ambulance and police that I was an attention seeker. EUPD has a bad reputation.

The Crisis team also forgot on many occasions to prescribe my medication leaving me without medication. I would often have to remind them I needed my medication.

I also learned by accident that the crisis team told the police I was calling for help on purpose.
So again, when I only attempted suicide as a vulnerable, distraught and depressed young girl the police decided twice to arrest me for wasting police's time. When this was investigated by West Midlands police they found I was not calling 999 police or ambulance nor was I wasting the police's time.

The Oaklands centre and the crisis team often warned me that the police could fine you, for wasting police's time. Well, I am warning you as an innocent person traumatised by the crisis team/forward thinking birmingham/oaklands that the POLICE can arrest you!

So beware.
And I recommend going private for NHS mental health help

"Messed up my prescription."

I expressly ordered my prescription from them 8 days before my medication ran out so as not to be left with nothing, and explicitly asked for it to be a digital one for delivery and yet, my prescription was made a paper one without notifying me and now I'm left with absolutely no medication.

"Not good"

My son has ADHD, ODD, separation anxiety disorder and tics. I'm lucky if they see my son once a year. Constantly phoning them and asking them if my sons doctor can give me a call as its a emergency as my son self harmed. They never got back to me. It's a joke

"Service not fit for purpose"

The computer system has been down for several months so they have no access to patient details. The receptionist said this is 'very difficult'. My relative has no medication but can't get any until they see a psychiatrist. My relative is in crisis but cannot access any face to face appointment. The service is for young people up to the age of 25 yet they are being left with no meds and no support. Poor service not fit for purpose.

"Medication prescription is ALWAYS wrong!"

I spend quite a bit of time explaining what doseage is required and the meds that require 2 a day, I am only receiving 1 a day. Not once have they got the request correct. Not only do I have to call back but the pharmacy have to do another delivery. I dont understand how this is being done incorrectly every time!?!

"Invalidated my feelings and experience"

Mental health nurse invalidated my experience with mental illness and I left feeling worse than when I arrived. When I later had another session with a different team member over the phone, they wrote to my gp and the words used were not professional. They also pushed me to name my abuser which I was not comfortable doing. Will never return to this service

"we cannot get through to re order meds"

My daughter needs repeat prescriptions every 2 to 3 months it’s impossible to get through on the phone waiting times over 45 mins. She works so can’t wait on phone that long. When she does order and someone goes to collect a week later it’s not been done. It’s stressing her and us out.

"Messed up my prescription order too many time"

I am currently on time critical anti-depressants, meaning if I don't take the medication on a regular basis my mood can take an instant downward spiral.

I have been with oaklands for about 2 years now and in the past year they have failed me on a consistent basis, almost every month. I would call up a week in advance (which is advised) to order my prescription and I am told it will be ready in 5 days. The first time I was failed was quite a few months ago, and when I called back they didn't even process my prescription. I had to go through an emergency prescription service to get emergency medication. This has happened to me 5 times now. The most recent time I called up 2 weeks in advance because I know they consistently fail with my prescriptions. I had 2 weeks left of meds and thought I was being clever in calling quite abit in advance. Called up a week later and was told it wasnt ready but I relayed the urgency of this request as I had 3 days left of medication. I was told it would be ready on Monday. I called up on Monday and was told it was ready so I went to Oaklands and was then told it wasn't ready for me. I told them my frustration as I had called up way in advance and was still let down. I now have no anti depressants and no way of accessing them. The receptionist just kept shrugging their shoulders like it isn't their problem. This service has worsened my mental health and hasn't helped me one bit. I am appalled at this service especially as they are supposed to be helping the most vulnerable of people. I'm so tired of this service.

"Lots of changes with nurses"

Lots of changes with nurses. Other issue is distance, quite far from my home.

Provider Response April 24, 2020

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. We are so sorry to hear that you have experienced lots of changes with nurses, and the hub is quite far from your home. There are several hubs across Birmingham, which may be nearer to you. Please speak to your clinician if you feel this is something you would like to pursue. Best wishes, Patient Experience Team.
