Right to Respond

As part of our commitment to providing an honest and transparent view of health and social care services, Healthwatch Birmingham & Solihull encourages providers to respond to comments the public have left.

Alongside ensuring providers can have a fair say in discussions about their services, replying to reviews demonstrates evidence of responding to patient feedback for the CQC, who regularly monitor our Feedback Centre. It is also an effective way to recruit service users for any wider engagement work at your organisation.

Guidelines for provider responses:

  • Keep language appropriate and civil
  • Remain professional and treat people’s comments fairly
  • Engage with the content of the review by addressing specific points and avoid cut and pasting a standard response
  • Don’t disclose the service user’s personal details or any potentially identifying information
  • Where appropriate leave organisational contact details e.g PALS or patient engagement teams for people to get further information

Remember: your response will be seen by everyone who uses the Feedback Centre, not just the original reviewer. All responses are moderated in accordance with our moderation policy.

Okay

It's been relatively okay. Some nice staff some not nice staff. I'm currently 17. Suddenly discharged with false information provided on the letter when I called to ask about it I was met with a woman saying to me "your thoughts are just thoughts and you need to be able to keep yourself safe." Not to mention that they suddenly left me with not meds after prescription. I was meant to be updated about all the meetings going on with me and was promised different kinds of therapies but now they know I'm on the waiting list for LWC they suddenly want to discharge me. However, I cannot fault them for taking care of me and their reassurance. Especially one. The staff don't judge you no matter what you say it seems. Was also discharged with having "gender issues" which is because I'm trans which I'm very kind of comfortable with even though I would like to fully transition. I was also not told what they think I have/would be diagnosed with. Was also told to go to A&E if I needed this process to restart. Which made me very distressed even if I was already panicking.
