"The GP is on top of everything"

They're good. Finally have a GP that is on top of everything. Normally it's one problem at a time at appointments but they let me go through everything and get me referred on.

"They helped with medication"

I see different doctors but they're great and listen well. The seem to care. I was wheezing slightly recently so I called and the got me in for the next morning. They gave me medication which helped my asthma.

"So good they don't need to improve"

They're so good they couldn't improve. I've always had good treatment from them. I had a call yesterday from the GP inviting me for a blood pressure check. I went the same day all done and so easy.

"My experience is good"

My experience is good and I can get appointments. If I want to see a particular GP then it can be a long wait. If I want bloods it can take a month. I don't have any issues at all.

"Brilliant and lovely staff"

"Reception accused me of being rude!"

Phoned the surgery today regarding text message for an appointment. Hope the conversation has been recorded as receptionist accused me being ruthless to her. This an insult to me!

"Really good care"

It can take a bit of time if you want to see a particular GP which is to be expected. The care is great when you do see a GP or nurse. They're really good for care.

I got an urgent appointment with them and they told me I should go to A&E with all the pain I was in. They're a good GP in general, no issues with appointments or trying to get one.

"Friendly, professional, and helpful"

I received a text asking me if I wanted a Covid booster (I have an autoimmune condition). I replied yes, and then had a phone call from the surgery; they booked me in at a convenient time. The appointment was yesterday, and all the staff were friendly, professional, and on time. This experience mirrors every other interaction I’ve had with the surgery: friendly, professional, and helpful.

"Really good staff"

Really good with children and can get appointments. They're very consistent in monitoring ITC and regular asthmatic check ups. They're responsive and proactive. The nurses are really really good too.

"Can't use the online system"

They're constantly getting in touch about BP readings and health checks but when you're ill you can't get in contact with them or get an appointment. I have to go in and make my husbands appointments as we can't use the online system and he is going blind. You have to push to see them.

"Mostly fine for children"

They're mostly fine for children. You can get appointments if you need them. You can get same day appointments for them. For adults it's a bit harder.

"The app is straight forward"

Once you have got an appointment it's fine. I have the app so I make all the appointments on there which is really straight forward. Never feel rushed and always listened to.

"Fantastic doctors"

I have never had any problems at all. All really good at dealing with any issues there and then. I see the same doctor and he sends out links to book appointments that are suitable for me. I choose from a list with loads of dates and times. All the doctors are fantastic and all very good.

"A good service"

Children have been here for years and they get a good service. I had to wait half an hour for today's appointment but they did apologise so that's could be better.

"Can do without the wait"

I don't come here that often and I wouldn't have if I knew I would be waiting this long. It's been half an hour so far. The receptionists are lovely. I can't blame them. I can do without the wait.

"The online system works for me"

Really easy and simple as I use the online system. Varies whether you can get same day appointments. It all works for me. The staff are lovely and I feel listened to. I don't feel rushed. They're always friendly and helpful. When I first moved to Brum I was anxious about moving to a new surgery but when i spoke to them here it was like speaking to an old friend. They were really nice and welcoming. It varies which clinician I see but it doesn't affect any of the care I receive.

"I made the right decision to move here"

"Good options for accessibility"

There are a good variety of options for surgery access. There is online access that send links to book appointments but when you click it the link is always broken. You call and tell them it isn't working, they send a new one and that doesn't work. If an appointment is urgent they see you the same day. If not it's a day or two later. Not always possible to see the same GP. My daughter likes seeing the same one due to her anxiety so they should be more flexible with that.

"They listen and are supportive"

They listen really well and give lots of advice and support. Happy to see me when I need them. I can also request to see a particular GP. There is an online booking system but I prefer to call as one of the times I had to use online it didn't go through.

"Brilliant"

Brilliant, really good. Very responsive, when I ring someone answers. A good online booking system. Minimal questions. They don't seem to send out same day appointments but will be within a week and I see the same GP which is good.

"Never any issues"

Never had any issues and always able to get an appointment. I mainly make them online, some of the questions on the form are irrelevant and you feel that you have to make something up to put in that box but other than that no issues.

"I can have calls instead of face to face"

The only criticism I have is that it used to be round the corner but now I have to take two buses to get here. I haven't tried getting a same day appointment for a while. Anytime I need something urgent I can call them and speak to someone. Having that phone call works as I don't feel that I always need to see someone face to face. Sometimes the system brings up the wrong name when I check in.

"My medical centre is excellent"

My Medical Centre is excellent. I have never had a problem getting an appointment and the staff, from Reception, GPs, nurses and pharmacy are friendly and responsive. The domestic staff should also be congratulated on the cleanliness of the building. They provided a brilliant service throughout covid and since.

"I had an annual review"

"Very pleased with all aspects of my care"

Since being a member of this practice I am pleased with every aspect of my care. I have found that getting an appointment is easy and I have never been forced to wait. My experience of this practice is based on comparisons with other local practices with which I had previously been a patient. The premises are always clean, the staff are polite and the doctors are professional and caring. I have just read the recent CQC report and I am pleased to see that the practice has received exactly the kind of report that it deserves.

"An incredible service"

I can't speak any higher of them. They are an incredible service. Nothing is ever too much for them. They get you in for appointments and you can get through when you call them. They even come out to you when you need them. It's a much better GP and more reliable. Really nice staff and a great service.

I\'m sorry to see that you have had a hard time getting through and are finding the wait time for appointments long, we have duty appointments daily for those that need an argent appointment same day, we also advise the quickest way to get an appointment is via an online v consult - the link can also be sent to your phone, should you have an issues our reception team are happy to help fill it out,
we also have I.T workshops with our technical team should you wish to bring your phone / laptop in we can help set up your online services and show you how they work.

I\'m sorry to hear how dissatisfied you are at not getting a flu or Covid booster appointment, unfortunately the text is a generic message sent out by the NHS as opposed to the practice its self, we have not yet received the flu vaccines in but when we do, we will be in touch with patients to make them aware.

Since transferring about a year ago I have had the best experience of primary care ever and most recently being able to choose which GP I saw. Very short waits to speak to someone and to access an outcome whether seeing a medic or other staff at the practice. Full re-assessment after transfer from my previous practice where all the waiting problems were still an issue.

The Nurse was a bit challenging about me being on statins insisting it was because if my blood results. In fact I was called unsolicited by the Practise to suggest, due to my age, I went on statins. But told it was totally my choice. Had the Nurse read my notes before I arrived she might have been better informed. I felt she was making assumptions about me based on my size.

"Always supportive and reactive"

I have complex medical issues, I get a holistic approach when needed as well as specialist attention for each of my conditions. They are responsive when needed but I can also book general appointments which obviously have a longer lead in time. You can ask for continuity of practitioner but as they are all very attentive to your notes and treat the person not the illness I have never found the need for this so far. The whole team are caring and patient.

I arrived 10 minutes before my appointment time. I was greeted courteously by the receptionist who directed me to the first draw waiting area.
Approximately two minutes after my appointment time, I was called by the phlebotomist, Who was extremely courteous and professional. Within a few minutes, my blood sample had been taken and I was able to leave. The phlebotomist answered my questions and gave me a likely timescale for the availability of my results. Altogether, a pleasant experience.

My little complaint is that the booking in machine told me to wait in the ground floor waiting room, which I did, and missed my appointment time because someone jumped the queue. I would say the receptionist are very nice and appointment are booked with ease.
Antenatal appointment was good but the follow up experience from my assigned midwife was poor.
I guess it’s the load of work assigned to her.
After birth experience was excellent I did appreciate that, the immunization experience with the nurse was great. Had no issues at all with the doctor and nurse.
They didn’t leave me guessing and answered all my questions.
I like that the centre isn’t crowded and even if it is, I did say the staff are efficient and it is one of the best medical centre in Birmingham. Very neat and well coordinated.
I hope it remains like that for a long time

"Doctor dismissed my concerns"

I asked Dr to weigh my child. She picked up my two month old child not providing adequate support to her head. She then almost placed her on a bare scale without any towelling. When she weighed my baby the result showed she had dropped weight by two centiles. She dismissed my concerns and did not even reweigh my child to check the result was not bogus. She was not bothered that my child had not gained in four weeks and sent me away saying we were late to see the nurse. This had a detrimental effect to my mental health as I was so worried about my two month old child it made me tearful. I felt that my concerns were not heard and dismissed, this was extremely poor healthcare provision.

"Actually pleasant smear test"

Smear tests are often awful and uncomfortable, and while there was some discomfort in the test itself, the nurse could not have been better. She explained everything and put me completely at ease. She didn’t keep me in the dark about anything, and explained words I didn’t know.

"It was well handled."

I went for a routine review of my health. The nurse was very friendly and ran a few checks with lovely and polite attitude. She drew blood without issue and gave me some helpful advice. Overall I had a great experience with no problems and would like to praise her and all the staff for how well I have been treated every time I attend. Especially with the heat, it can't be easy.

"Health check and overall high standards"

I have recently transferred to CGMP and I am delighted with the service. From simple things like being sent reminder texts and being able to park on site, to the large waiting room and low wait times, and most of all the sympathetic, friendly and caring nature of all the staff. It truly is a big improvement on my former health centre. This is also the first time I've been invited for a health check on the verge of turning 42. I'm fully supportive of such pre-emptive and proactive checks that seek to identify potential imbalances before they manifest into much more serious problems. To me, this is what good health care looks like (vs reactive sick care) and I applaud the NHS and CGMP for undertaking such checks. Keep up the good work and thank you!

"A great service"

They are good, great services, never had any issues. Great communication, great follow up. No problems with appointments as they try to get you the earliest ones. We have to ring in the morning which might get frustrating at times.

"I try not to go at all"

I have quite a few chronic problems. I used to go to them regularly. Try not to go at all, I have seen 14 different doctors, where is the continuity of care!!!! Have to explain my problems, I have now developed SOB. I was labelled Asthmatic years ago. So it is my asthma that is causing it. Regardless of the fact that steroids, and different inhalers don't work. They just don't listen anymore!!! The whole experience over the last 2 years could have been better. The same applies if you want to speak to a doctor or specialist nurse. 2-3 day wait. What is the use of this.

Thank you for your feedback.
I am sorry to read that you feel your experience at GC could have been better and that you don’t feel listened to anymore – this is not how we want our patients to feel at all!

CG, is a large teaching practice and alongside the partners we have our regular GP’s, trainee Doctors and locum Doctors. If you have a particular GP that you prefer to see, you can inform the receptionist and they’ll do their very best to get you booked in with that GP, however, as you might imagine, this could mean you would have to wait for an available appointment slot.
With regards to speaking to a doctor or Nurse, this is the same process as booking an appointment, unless it was an urgent medical issue that could not wait, in which case, you would be treated by our emergency Duty Doctor.

Each time you consult with a GP or a member of the clinical team, your records are updated and treatments and outcomes are detailed, this means that even though you may not see the same doctor on your next visit, all GP’s will have sound knowledge of your medical history.

I do hope my reply has helped to explain the reason for seeing different doctors and the appointment process.

"Every time another GP"

Every time another GP which is a serious problem for me with a long term and severe problem. Plus that you get simply kicked out after 10 minutes although you still need to talk urgently to the GP. As a result, acute conditions have become long term problems. There is a real impact on my health due to that. I had to explain the same issue to around 6 or 7 different GPs at this practice, and they all come up with different ideas each time?! It’s insane. There is no consistency in the assessment and as a result, insufficient therapy for in my case a severe problem. Patients are passed around in the system with no one feeling responsible and really helping.

"Hospital expedite letter not sent"

Due to severe pain, the hospital advised to get an expedite letter from the GP. After five months of chasing the practice countless times it turned out still nothing has ever been ever sent. And then after 10 minutes you get kicked out from your appointment although the ten minutes were just chasing up the work they didn’t do in the first place. Then you’re being asked to understand that GPs are busy, who understands that I am in severe pain for months and passed around like a parcel! Every day is a struggle with the pain, and yet still you have to work to pay the bills and after 10 minutes you’re told to leave and come again. Feeling really hopeless.

"Waiting 2 to 3 weeks for an appointment."

It's not good. Before when the GP was Boundary Road they were friendly and could get appointments on the day. Now you have to wait 2 to 3 weeks for an appointment and it's hard to see my own GP. I think it is because it's a bigger place and there's more people. They also train young doctors which could explain things but they have got to learn.

Not had to wait too long to be referred onto the hospital from the GP, waited around 5/6 months. If you phone up in the morning, you may be able to get an appointments. If not you can book on for in about 3 weeks time.

"Service feels a bit impersonal"

I moved surgery because they merged and its now a big medical centre. Covid changed the service an awful lot. I have to call to get an appointment and it's usually over the phone, which I understand. They will see the kids in an emergency. They make you book online via an e-consult and then someone gets back to you, it all feels a little impersonal since they've gone bigger. They did do a consultation with the patients before merging but I think they had already made their decision.

Thank you for your feedback. We read and take all feedback very seriously and try our level best to use it to improve our services. I’m very disappointed to read that you feel that CG feels impersonal, this is the last thing we want our patients to feel!

You can still book a routine appointment with a Dr of your choice, as long as your appointment is not of an urgent nature, in which case you would see the first Dr available.
Using the v-consult is an online booking system that many patients prefer to use, however, if you are not comfortable with this, you can still call the surgery or if you’re able, you can pop in and arrange an appointment.

The merging of the three surgeries has enabled CG to become a very successful teaching practice with much more services to offer our patients. You can search our website for a list of our services or you can come into the surgery and have a chat to one of the reception team, who will be more than happy to assist you.

Thank you for leaving your feedback, we read all reviews and always take on board any suggestions on how we can improve our services.

Many of the services we provide are accessible online, however, our phone lines and our doors will always remain open to patients that prefer to book appointments this way.

We have a duty to ensure our services are available to everyone via a medium of their choice. Lots of our patients will only use online services but we will never exclude patients that prefer to book via calling the surgery or in person.

If you are able, can you come into the surgery and speak to one of the receptionists, who will be more that happy to get you an appointment. You can also phone the surgery from 08.30am.
We appreciate the phone lines can be busy at times, but we have a number of receptionists taking calls so the queue does move quickly.

I hope my explanation has been of some help and of course you’re more that welcome to come into the surgery if you wish to discuss the matter further with me.

"Several Different Doctors and all on the ball"

I have different medical conditions, which are managed by Drs with specialisms in those areas. It can be difficult getting an appointment but there is always call back or online. There have been issues with repeat prescriptions but after I made an online complaint, this was resolved. I have also spoken to several receptionists and found them to be helpful and compassionate. During a family trauma last year - everyone was helpful and the GPs worked with us to bring things back to an even Keel.

Many of the GP’s will have an area that they specialise in, along with the GP’s there are the added benefits of a Physiotherapist, a number of Practice Nurses, Health Care Assistants, Pharmacists and even a Social Prescriber – giving our patients access to a whole team of experts.

I’m please the issue with your prescriptions has now been resolved, we have a dedicated team of prescription Clerks who work hard on ensuring repeats are issued on time.

"Rubbish"

We are aware it’s frustrating when trying to get through to the surgery during busy times.
We do have other options to use instead of calling the surgery; you can use the online service, just pop into the surgery and the
receptionist will set it up for you. V consult is another online
programme that is very popular for ordering medication. You can also ask your Pharmacy to order on your behalf or, you can pop into the surgery and the receptionist will order them for you.

I do hope one of the above options will make ordering repeat
prescriptions a more positive experience for you in the future.

"Appalling experience"

Poor experience of unprofessionalism from a doctor who was rude beyond belief. Lacking care, compassion or empathy.
This was the first time meeting this doctor and as my named GP it was an opportunity for her to gain a little insight. She has the authority to make important discisions about healthcare services available to me as i get older, and at 63 thats scary thought.
I was humilated by her dismissive manner, that in some way I did not meet the criteria of a patient she would be happy to give the time of day to.
This doctor provided minimal, if any evidence based information to me except to offer a print out. Just yes and no answers to my questions, deciding maybe that I lacked the ability to understand complex phrases, this robotic, tick box doctor failed to listen or understand. I did place a complaint about this consultation but it affected my care and how the service was available to me. I was a patient for 26 years before the merger of practices in 2020 and yet I feel the need to leave and find another GP practice following this experience.
College Green may have gained a new building but has lost openess and transparency, replaced with a practice business model that appears coporate-led rather than patient-led. It also lacks mental health awareness, even though on paper, those boxes are ticked!
The help I seek is not available for me at College Green Medical Practice.

"The injections were fairly painless"

I had a steroid injection in each of my knees this week. It was fairly easy to get the appointment with my named GP, who is one of the doctors who does injections. My appointment was over an hour late, but earlier in the morning he had a complex case to deal with. The injections were fairly painless, and the doctor discovered a bit of loose bone, for which I’m going to have an x-ray.

"Shambolic"

Problems with many prescriptions I order with items being left off - today is was my Fostair inhaler yet again meaning the brilliant pharmacy at Kings Cotteridge have to pick up the pieces and write an emergency prescription. It’s also inconvenient as I have to make a second journey.

"On 3/10/22 I gave a 3 as anonymous. An update"

Following my complaint here I was contacted through Healthwatch by the surgery who invited me to identify myself. I made contact with the complaints clerk who invited me to have a double appointment to speak to the doctor who is my designated doctor. The receptionist had not known that there were designated doctors. The Dr explained that we all have a designated doctor who reviews our records, and may have a doctor specialising in something about our specific care, We can ask for appointments with our designated doctor, but in more urgent cases might be seen by a 'duty' doctor.
She asked my permission to speak to the doctor who prescribed the 3 medications.
I was glad to know that someone as experienced as her was indeed taking charge of my records.
I felt very reassured.

"New place poor service"

I was told the move would make such a difference for the better. Sorry, quite the opposite. Can't get to see my own doctors who know me anymore. The ones I have seen are distant and impersonal. There was one I saw was downright rude to me and spoke to me as if if I was a brainless twit . Sorry to have to say that but true. I am very sad as I was very happy with my surgery and my doctor's. But now I don't even bother to see the doctor any more, only when I have to like a review and this again is with a doctor I do not even know neither does he know me. I don't even get my blood tests every 3 months as the hospital said I should have. I have reported this to the surgery but with no results. I would like to know how all of this makes my surgery better for me. It has made it none existent. Sorry to have to say this but for meet very true.

"Difficult to see the same doctor"

I have been using the v-consult to get appointments. Never know who the doctor will be. Arrangement for call gets longer. Calling reception for appointment isn't any better although receptionists I have spoken to have always been helpful. I'm a number rather than a person/patient in a very long queue. The new centre is becoming impersonal. I wish only the best for CG but I have had at least 2 appointments this year where the doctor lacked compassion, empathy and time.

Dear patient

It’s extremely disappointing to read that during your last 2 appointments you have felt that the Doctor has lacked compassion, empathy and time. Feeling like a number rather than a person is not how we want our patients to feel after a consultation.

Waiting in a queue for an appointment is very frustrating and we are fully aware of this. We are always looking for new ways to improve and make CG a better experience for our patients.

You can request the Dr you would like to see and we will always do our level best to get you an appointment with that Dr, but as I’m sure you can appreciate; some Dr’s have to spend some of their time teaching and therefor consulting hours are reduced. I urge you to book an appointment with a Dr of your choice, if you still need it, and explain to the Dr how you are feeling, I am confident they will address your concerns.

Thank you for acknowledging that our reception staff are always nice, they always do the best they can for our patients.

"Bring back our old surgery"

Since College Green has been up and running we have had nothing but problems trying to get an appointment to the point we are looking to move to a new surgery. The new facility seems to be disorganized in relation to patient accessibility either by phone or online booking services. At the old surgery we at least got a booking within a day or two if we phoned up, sometimes on the day. Latest news letter from the surgery suggests the future isn't much brighter with a gym being installed on the 3rd floor meaning less parking spaces for patients who need help.

Dear patient
Thank you for bringing your concerns to our attention and hopefully giving us the opportunity to make amends.

Appointments can be extremely frustrating; we are aware of this and we’re always looking for ways to improve the system. We now have extended opening hours, Monday to Friday, 08.30 to 8pm and Saturday 08.30 to 5pm. You can also book an appointment using the V-Consult, which is much quicker that calling the surgery and waiting times are within a 3-day period. For urgent appointments, there is always a Duty Doctor available.

At the moment, parking can be difficult due to works taking place on the 3rd floor, currently 1/3 of the parking is taken up by the building company, however, there is always spaces at the front of Bournville Gardens, at the north end. Parking is also very congested at the moment due to Covid and Flu clinics.

The 3rd floor will be taken over by ROH and we’re really looking forward to working in harmony with them. The works are scheduled to finish by 31st January 2023.

I hope you will read my reply and maybe reconsider looking a new G.P surgery.

"Not good"

Following my GP's appointment, I had to give blood tests for which I had to book a different date. I went for repeated Blood tests on 3 different occasions for the same test but every time no results. On inquiry, the receptionist gave the reasons as blood sample lost or insufficient sample. When I called them after a few weeks to check on my last results, they called for a repeat test again towards the end of October which is ridiculous. On questioning, the receptionist said mistakes do happen. Mistakes happening repeatedly is an unacceptable excuse. This has been a very bad experience.

"Treat without diagnosis"

Neither GP took the history - one looked and said eczema - the other prescribed betnovate for lesions that were already healing without a diagnosis. The second one also prescribed a drug for cold hands and feet, which is primarily used for lowering blood pressure when I had just returned a BP machine and results for monitoring due to low blood pressure. There was no discussion of blood pressure. There was no discussion of the history of the lesions that were atypical and not eczema.

"Used to be great before the merge"

Used to be great before the merge. Staff are nice, but think they have got too many surgeries together. Usually not too bad. They don’t see face to face.

Thank you for your feedback and your acknowledgement that the staff at CG are nice.

We do appreciate that not everyone will be pleased with the merging of 3 surgeries, even though we worked very hard to make the transition as smooth as possible for everyone involved. The positive side of the merger is that CG now has so many services to offer, including extended opening hours every weekday till 8pm and every Saturday from 9am to 5pm.

CG has always offered face-to-face appointments however, during the pandemic, a Dr would call the patient to triage and if the Dr deemed it necessary, the patient would then be asked to attend the surgery.

For many months now patients have been given a choice of a face-to-face appointment, or a telephone consultation if the patient feels too ill to attend the surgery or if they feel a telephone consultation is more suited to their situation.

I hope this information has been of some help to you.

I am sorry to read that you feel unheard, this is definitely not how we want our patients to feel after a consultation. If you feel you still need treatment, I urge you to book an appointment with a Dr of your choice and explain how you are feeling. I am confident that if you discuss this with the Dr, you will be heard. If you feel you no longer need a Dr but would like to discuss this matter, please contact the surgery and ask to speak to the complaints manager or the practice manager.

As for the appointments, non-urgent wait times are normally around 2 weeks, however if your appointment is urgent, you will always be able to get an emergency appointment. There is also an option of using the V-consult. "Helpful and understanding"

I have had 83 years of outstanding service during the Surgery being Granton based in Middleton Hall Road. For me personally the service continues at College Green which is some distance further but I am pleased I have stayed with them. The Receptionists are patient and pleasant and over the past few weeks have done everything to ensure that I am given the appointments specified by the Nurse. Indeed, when I first phoned with my particular problem a Senior Doctor phoned me and asked if I could "pop along" there and then ! I was amazed and of course delighted. They are doing their very best and I hope I can look foward to this standard continuing.

"You can get a phone appointment same day"

You can usually get a phone appointment the same or next day. My husband is bedridden, we live very close to the surgery but they don't always visit him. We were told a health visitor would come and give him a blood test but when she came she put a bandage on his big toe.
I need a new hip and I am worried about his care if I go into hospital. The care at home will change if the appointment is put off. I don't mind paying once but I don't want to pay several times.

"Great difficulty getting an appointment"

Tried to make an appt online. System not working. Called surgery. Explained that I was experiencing bad side effects from medication. Offered an appointment over two weeks away or call at 8.30 following morning which I did. Had to keep redialling 5 times before I got into a queue waiting about a minute each time listening to a recorded message before being told to call back later. Eventually after about half an hour got through to be told no more appointments available and to call again tomorrow. Asked what if I can't get an appt tomorrow? Just told to try again tomorrow or they would.offer an appt in May three weeks away.
Poor instructions on their website re booking an appt on line. Took me an hour and a half from start to finish and eventually secured an appointment on line for a telephone consultation in over two weeks time. I was told by the GP who prescribed the medication to get in touch straight away if the side effects were unmanageable but I have to wait over a fortnight with no advice given in the meantime. Some reception staff seem poorly trained and only have one aim which is to get you off the phone.
No choice given for times for calls from GP.
I don't know how people who work manage to make an appointment at all taking into consideration the amount of time it takes to make an appointment. And for people with no access to the internet their chances of making an appt must be very limited.
There were no issues with making an appt when the surgeries were separate. It is more than disappointing that so much money has been spent on this new building only to find that the service to patients falls short of what is acceptable.
Two systems for making appts which are not synchronized. Phone or V Consult. Problems getting logged onto V consult were understood by reception staff who were reluctant to provide the information I need to get logged on.

"Lack of confidence in advice"

Telephone appointments only offered on occasions I have needed a GP. No control over timing of call back which makes a confidential conversation impossible when working. This leaves issues undealt with and prevents questions being asked. It feels akin to a telephone help line. I have come away uncertain about how to take a drug, whether it is necessary and feel the only answer may be to contact a private GP.

They have been fantastic in organizing flawlessly Covid & Flu vaccination and in responding to more routine enquiries. As they have to cope with moving to new building during this period of pandemic. I think they have performed outstandingly.

"My question WAS answered a few days later!"

In my previous review I said it hadn’t been answered.
I think we need to appreciate how difficult to bring many separate surgeries together. Not just the GP’s but administration staff too.
I am surprised reading these reviews how angry some respondents are! There are going to be teething problems. Personally, I’ve never had experience of rudeness from any staff, ever. In my experience the staff have always been very polite and helpful.
In regard to phone call appointments, some people prefer them. They save you the practicality of getting to the site so the overall experience is much quicker.

The practice is now adjacent to where I live. The merged 3 practices seem to be settling in well, and although initially I only had phone calls with GP’s, I have had face to face recently which I prefer. The pandemic means that I try not trouble the over stretched health services and my overall health may be deteriorating as a result.

"There is no feedback or answer"

I think many appointments are suitable via a GP phone call. However if a patient has any condition that needs to be seen or felt i.e. lumps, bumps or general illness. We must be able to be seen in person. Also when messages are left, especially in the request medication, there is no feedback or answer.

"What on earth were you all thinking !!!"

This was not done with patients in mind that's for sure, very difficult to get to if don't drive. No more personal touch very clinical, receptionists are rude and no clue what they are doing - i only stay because i like the Doctors we had a Granton but now the surgeries have merged what's left !!!! nothing. absolute disaster.
Had to send my blood pressure results - i liked my old surgery far more personable - lovely new building but the service we receive is rubbish compared to what it was before. You have taken a backward step in my view the worst decision ever.

"Rubbish! Receptionists haven’t got a clue!"

Can’t get anyone to answer the phone! Needed blood pressure doing so could get repeat prescription but none for weeks. Then tried to explain I need medication but the receptionist hasn’t got a clue. Asked for prescription to be sent to pharmacy and her words ‘is that something we sort’ really?!

Thought it might be better once merged but god no ten times worse. Staff training is definitely needed !

"Difficult to get an appointment"

Difficult to get through to and appointments only by telephone. I had trouble with a repeat prescription when it was the pharmacist that was deciding the amount of tablets I could be precsribed - overriding the instructions of the hospital. This was only corrected after several discussions and promised call backs that did not take place.Now that 80% of the population has been vaccinated why are the doctors hiding behind a technological wall?

"Poor"

Poor. Very difficult to get an appointment even for serious illness - as in can't breathe. Not covid. Very upsetting. When restrictions were lifted an immediate text came through from the dr saying their doors are remaining closed.

"Not easy to access if you cant walk 25 minutes!"

Impressive new facilities but not easy to access if you cant walk 25 minutes! Means getting 2 buses or a taxi. Not everyone can afford a taxi. Elderly or vulnerable people may not find it easy to access services online but if you ring you can be left in a queue for ages. I am sure the NHS have saved money by amalgamating 3 surgeries but it's the patient who suffers. The pandemic has slimy highlighted that these changes have been done for financial expediency not out of concern for patients.

"Good Granting Surgery ( now merged with others)"

Having found a lump in my neck ( during lockdown ) I was seen on the same day that I called the surgery and blood tests done. Fortunately nothing of concern. On a second occasion, with " red flag symptoms " I was referred to the Women's hospital and 2x tests done and treatment given within 2 weeks

"Excellent service"

Excellent service from Griffins Brook MC now merged into a new bigger practice but yet to move to new premises. Since the pandemic, online services have been utilised increasingly and has made access to health staff and medications far easier than before. Telephone consultations have suited my lifestyle and doctors have been responsive to my needs.
