"Very good, they looked after me"
Very good. I was very sick and they looked after me. I was there for a week and then discharged as I was much better.
Very good. I was very sick and they looked after me. I was there for a week and then discharged as I was much better.
Breast cancer treatment was very good. A wonderful team of staff.
They gave me good advice on how to eat a coeliac diet after being diagnosed. They were great.
I had an operation and stayed in for 1 night. The care was lovely. The system is poor as they're run off their feet but the care was second to none.
I was referred to City Hospital for breast cancer treatment. I had all initial tests here and everything moved along quickly from mammogram to treatment. I attend every three months. Treatment was good and the staff were lovely.
I went for a booked appointment and waited for four hours. I was waiting for a check up after laser treatment and after 4 hours I was told all the doctors had gone home. They locked up as I was waiting there.
My labour was bad. My waters broke one month early and I was spotting. I stayed in as I was unwell. I googled my symptoms and found it could be something wrong with my liver but they didn't listen. Later they saw my liver was damaged and they accused me of drinking. They were gaslighting me. I was worried after my son was born I would drop him as I had carpal tunnel and had tingling and numbness in my arm. I was given painkillers and steroid injections but I didn't want them and then my immunity worsened.
I have PCOS and mental health issues. When I was at City the midwives were horrible. My son has autism and I wonder if the trauma I experienced here caused it. During my stay I had GBS, UTI, piles, sickness, anaemia, alopecia and suicidal thoughts. Suffered post natal depression afterwards.
They forgot to tell me important information when my mum was in hospital. I had to leave her in hospital once her care was given to her. Mum had to stay in hospital another night. I was furious. She came home on Friday and died the same day.
It took six weeks for me to get my money back after the admin made a mistake regarding how many days I was an inpatient in the hospital. I had to fight for my money back. They cause more problems than anything.
I was in the A&E in 2023 as I had passed out and had had a fainting episode. They said I would need to go for further blood tests and got it arranged.
My dad was admitted to City Hospital and needed an MRI. They were going to give him a general anesthetic due to his anxiety. Family members had to point out and remind them that he was also being treated for AF and that he could not have a general anesthetic due to the ongoing cardiac issue as it could be dangerous. It was a real concern as if family had not have been there they could have put him in danger.
They have long waiting lists so I would rate them 4 out of 5.
Last year my son came off his bike and was seen at A&E quickly.
During Covid a beauty spot on my inner elbow grew bigger. I spent weeks trying to book an appointment then got a call back. I sent a photo as requested. Urgent skin consultant appointment followed. Long story short after removal (5cms under the skin) I was told I had
Stage 3C skin cancer that had spread to my lymph nodes. More surgery then Immunotherapy. Stopped after 3 months because of life threatening side effects. I was admitted to hospital 3 times. Serious leg infections. Loss of sight and hearing. It took 6 months to see a surgeon. 2 years ago I had a fall. Went to A&E. After xrays i was told there was no fracture so take painkillers. After weeks of agony sent for a scan. 5 weeks wait for results to find I have a complete tear of my rotator cuff and a partial tear. I can't raise my arm higher than my waist and don't get much sleep because of the pain. 3 months later I was seen by an Orthopaedic surgeon and had 2 lots of steroid injections. Because of my age (73) he told me I should leave it alone. I paid for several sessions with a physiotherapist who told me it was urgent I go back to my GP. I was seen by a different consultant because it's almost 2 years since the fall, an operation is of no help; tendons and muscle will not support repairs. I've now been waiting 3 months to be referred to the pain management clinic. At the same time I'm still having appointments for skin cancer side effects and scans. 2 occasions now that would have had better outcomes if the X-Ray Dept and Orthopaedic surgeon had acted sooner.
They took a biopsy and lost it. Very good consultant but lost the biopsy.
A&E was a 9 hour wait. It's a long wait if you're not well.
All was very good at maternity a year ago. The care was very good.
I had a procedure that went wrong.
Long waits for hours.
I was at the maternity 2 years ago and they were very good. The staff were kind and helpful.
The MacMillan nurse is amazing here, very good.
I was there over 1 year and 7 months ago and everything was fine at maternity. I was very happy with them.
I was at the A&E department two years ago. It was good. I waited in a room for 2 hours and they did some bloods and sent me for scans and an ECG on the same day. They got the results and then sent me home.
The waiting time used to be very long and for my elderly mother she couldn't sit that long in pain. She was in her 90's. It took too long to see someone.
I was in intensive care and the staff were good. Good treatment explanations and the care was good.
I had surgery for a hernia last June and it all went well. There wasn't any follow up after the surgery but they did say to go to A&E if anything was seriously wrong.
There was no reception staff to tell me where to go but otherwise it was good.
I waited for a year for a 10 minute appointment.
I had a scan for my back last September and they said I would need to contact my GP for a referral for physio. I'm still waiting.
I found the receptionist rude here and the wait was long at the chest clinic. It's a dirty hospital. The nurses are good, I feel sorry for them as they get the brunt of everything.
Went to A&E and treatment was alright but it was quite scary as there was all sorts there and some people were very confrontational.
I had an infusion and was taken well care of. The nurses were very helpful. I have been lucky and not experienced any problems.
The care there was awful. There is just a lack of care.
I visited a year and a half ago for an eye problem and the service was excellent.
I used A&E in July 2024 as I had a bad headache and my blood pressure was through the roof. I had all tests done and they treated me really well. I think they didn't mess around because of the pain I was in and my history so they were very good.
I used maternity 16 months ago and it was good there. The staff were good. Everyone helped me and they were kind and made me feel I was being listened to when I was feeling so nervous.
I had heart surgery here and a bowel issue where they did a biopsy. They didn't check on me after my surgery and I wasn't happy with them for that.
They give you an appointment after a long time waiting. I had a lump in my leg and I got to see them after 6 months. By the time I got there the lump had gone. They didn't offer an x-ray. It keeps coming and going.
My last visit was September 2024 but they always give me an interpreter for my appointments.
They were good.
I went for a hernia operation 2 years ago and stayed on the ward for 3 days. Care and treatment was excellent.
I went for an x-ray just before the hospital shut down and it took ages for my results to come through.

You have wait 4 to 6 hours in poor conditions at A&E.
It was very quick, in and out within an hour. I was amazed by the quick and excellent care provided.
They are worse than any other hospital I have visited. I had to wait for 7 hours.
Long waits before I was seen by a wonderful doctor who examined me thoroughly.
Neurology is absolutely brilliant. I go every year and they are excellent and so supportive.
It's alright but everywhere is under strain and if you have to wait a bit longer I fully understand.
After a long wait I received very limited care and support.
It was very poorly managed and not a well planned service. Nobody knew what was going on there.
Poor facilities and seating in A&E. In 3 hours I had only been seen by a nurse to take my medical history and then I waited another hour for a doctor to come and examine me.
The children's A&E is good. Better than the Children's. I took my granddaughter there a few months ago and didn't wait long. There are less people and you feel you're getting better treatment and care.
Rubbish. The A&E staff aren't good. They couldn't help me. They were disgusting and left me on the floor so I ended up taking myself home and asked to be transferred to Sandwell, which the GP did.
Very rude and unhelpful staff. Nurses don't listen and the doctors are always in a rush.

I didn't wait very long at A&E. I was seen very quickly, they did an x-ray and then was sent to the fracture clinic.
I waited for 3 hours before being examined.
Excellent care and support provided for sleep apnea. The staff are very caring and helpful.
Long waits in A&E. They just don't have the staff at night. I went in at 1am and didn't come out until 11:30am. It's happened twice now, hardly any doctors on the evening. Having to triage with a nurse then wait for a doctor until the morning.
They check up on my kidney and high blood pressure. I have had to go when I get pain too.
I had a head scan as I was having very bad headaches.
I'm due a repeat scan here. I'm going there as they have a much more powerful scanner.
I had a catheter fitting op after being diagnosed with cancer.
I went for my regular breast screening appointment and was invited back by letter for a follow up appointment. I must admit I didn't read the letter properly but they told me that I would need a biopsy as they had found abnormalities from the original scan which they organised quickly.
A very good experience at maternity. I had my baby in the serenity suite. They helped me a lot. I called them at 3am in the morning and they really listened and helped me.

ANC is fine to be fair. I'm seen quite quickly the last few times. I have waited a bit longer today. The past three times I have seen the same nurse and staff doing the obs. They have been really nice. Communication has been great. They sent a letter and through the NHS app too.

The GP referred us for my wife's leg.
My GP referred me, it took 6 weeks and I'm happy with them.
Physiotherapy is very good. A modernised service,
My issue is that they don't care about patients. They run it like a business.
The pharmacy is okay here. I have come to get my prescription from them and they are okay. It's doesn't take a long time and the staff are okay.
The waiting time for appointments to be seen is way too long. For example, I was referred to trauma clinic in December 2023 and the appointment came through for August 2024.

An awful experience, I felt neglected there. I couldn't get a drink or food. The staff weren't checking in on me. I felt uncomfortable and neglected.
I was taken to hospital by ambulance from my GP surgery. I had pneumonia. The hospital were good. I am 17 but I was put on a respiratory ward for 5 days with a lot of older patients which was quite daunting. The care was good. Being so young I didn't feel that I could speak up and advocate for myself as I was so poorly but my mom was my advocate and liaised with the staff for me.
I went to an appointment there today and they were wonderful. I was there for an hour and they were really lovely, helpful and they answered all of the question that I had.
Not very pleased with them. I waited 12 months for the appointment. Then when I went I waited one and a half hours to be called in. They looked in my nose and said there were no polyps, they looked in my ears and it really hurt so I asked them to stop and they said I had really narrow ear canals. I didn't appreciate their treatment. It was awful.
I went there for an MRI and it was in a hut in the back of a car park. It was difficult to access in a wheelchair and strange. I wasn't given any information beforehand that it would be there.
I have had ECGs and angioplasty there and it went quite well. They sent my results to the GP and a letter to myself. The hospital was easy to get around and clean too.
My mom has heart problems and when I can't get her an GP appointment I take her to A&E to go an ECG and monitor her. We still have to wait about 4 hours.
Same as Sandwell Hospital. It's a mess. A long and tedious process in which you wait for hours. It's all a mess and needs organising. The whole system needs shake up.
It's long waiting times. I have waited for 6 hours and they don't necessarily help you. They just do their job, not help you. It's just such long waits.
I wasn't happy with the care or treatment my daughter was receiving here so I requested they transfer to the Children's.
It's a lot better at A&E here than the Children's. I find it easier to get seen and there is less waiting time. The doctors are all helpful. My Mrs would rather take him there than the Children's.
It's very busy and poorly managed department. I waited for 4 hours before I was seen.
It's the most disorganised and over crowded place to visit. I will give them zero stars if I could

I had severe pain in the back and waited a long time in A&E. I told them and asked them when I would be seen as I was sitting in a chair. They then gave me a bed to lie down on but was in so much pain. The eventually gave me co-codamol and had an MRI at the treatment centre. I was annoyed that I had 3 men doing the scan.
Not happy with the quality of service delivery. Very rude and unhelpful staff.

Very overcrowded and staff are not helpful at all.
I was seen within a couple of hours. The care and support was excellent.

I was referred as they found a polyp on my smear test. They were excellent and they looked at it and treated me quickly. Very professional. Gave me good advice and just lovely all round. They made an unpleasant experience as pleasant as they could.
I see the doctor here twice a year. I do everything for myself and do not come here. I don't have carers. I just walk in to see my doctor and they see me.
A&E waiting times are long. I try to avoid the place. If I go then I know I really need them. They are too busy there.
I went for some blood tests and a scan not long ago. It was easy to get to and get around. My son takes me and doctors explain everything. They said they'll see me again soon. I will wait for the next appointment.
I've been to City. They are alright

It's always very busy. Surely they need more staff to run a service smoothly.
Rude staff and long waiting lists for treatment. I won't go there again.
They told me not to work as I have heart problems. I have had stents fitted and unable to work. They are good with follow ups.

The gynaecology department was good. They checked for polyps. They are very helpful.
I have been coming here for years. Parking is expensive, but manage to find a space. The staff are all nice, the wards sometimes hit and miss. The new trainees are not not very polite or helpful.

Staff are very rude and you have to wait ages for your turn to see the doctor.
I always have to wait for ages in the waiting area before the appointment. Rude staff at all levels.
Sent to Modality centre after requesting I see a female gynaecology doctor. Was told it would be ‘discrimination’ against male gynaecologists, and against City Hospital policy
My husband has been waiting for an x-ray appointment for five weeks, which is not acceptable. He can't see the consultant without an x-ray.
Very good at physiotherapy. A good service provided. Communication is good, they explain everything.

Very busy and long waiting times. The staff are very rude and unhelpful.
I had my little one here and they were really nice. A great service before I gave birth too for growth scans.

I had my operation here. It was good.
I had my son there a couple of years ago, I complimented the the midwife at the time on how much better the service was there compared to other hospitals. She made a comment stating that's because they treat everyone the same, which at the time I thought was just a comment but I don't think people take into account people's differences. More training should be given to healthcare staff on their approach to patients from different ethnicities.
I went there for blood tests a number of times. The staff are very helpful and take good care of the patients.
They sorted me out. I went in as they thought I was having a stroke as I had a thumping headache and they did tests and a CT scan which proved it wasn't a stroke but it did take a long time and had no follow up.
Not happy with the emergency diabetes service here. They don't treat you sufficiently.

The staff are very rude and don't listen to you. They need customer service training. The clinics are always running late too.

It was assumed I was faking seizures until a Jr. Doctor (fy1) talked to me and looked at my medical records and i was admitted.

Most of the reception staff over there are rude and need training in customer services. I go to the treatment centre and cardiology for my appointments. The doctors and nurses are good and helpful.
I had my MRI scan here. The staff were very helpful and caring.
I go there for my bloods tests. The reception staff are very rude but the nurses are fine and very helpful.
I had surgery there and was an inpatient for 10 days. The food provided needs to be improved a lot. The level of cleanliness in wards and toilets also needs improving.
Really bad service in the Dudley City Hospital Birmingham. In reception so moody the lady. In emergencies really good but with the GP in the hospital really moody the Indian lady, she didn’t give me nothing for the pain, I’ve been having issues for more then 10 days with pain and she only told me to drink paracetamol and I had to wait 2 hours just for that
I sometimes have appointments at City when the doctors refer us there. They're good there. No issues with my healthcare. We are very well looked after.
I was referred onto them when I found out I was pregnant. They wanted to do a GTT test but they didn't book it in until after 14 weeks and I had unfortunately lost the baby by then. They were very apologetic and and really supportive
Not so good here. A&E has long waiting times. Most of the staff are very lovely, very good but the long waits are hard.
The reception team were very rude and unhelpful. The toilets were dirty and the seating area was in a poor state.
It was very good. I was in A&E from 6pm to 1am. I was having pain in my chest. They did blood tests and x-rays. They gave me an injection to make sure there were no blood clots. Their treatment was very satisfying after a 6 hour wait but could have been quicker as we waited 1 and half hours after going to A&E. There needs to be quicker treatment to save patients.
During covid I was an inpatient on a covid ward for 20 days. They saved my life. Excellent care and treatment was received.
I went there for bloods and a scan. I was seen on time and the nurses were very polite and helpful. The results were posted to me and my GP within a week.
I go there for my diabetes check up and blood tests. The hospital is not very clean and staff are rude.
I was reluctant to go to the GP about skin cancer. I was referred within 2 weeks. They gave us medication to get stuff off his head. They took skin from his leg to be put on his head. He had another op where they took skin from his arm. He was very well looked after and they check up on him every week at first and now it's every month. He sees the cancer nurse or the consultant who give good advice. The only trouble we had is they gave the wrong number and it's hard to get through to them.
A very average hospital. The way they approach and talk to you. They need to talk to people in a human way. They are just arrogant. These consultants think they're better than you.
Poor seating area with no facilities. My brother waited for 6 hours in severe pain before he was provided support.
You have to wait, wait and wait for hours without any proper support and help.
Very helpful nurses and doctors in A&E. They try their level best to help you.
I was referred to City hospital for a biopsy by my GP one month ago. I have not heard anything back from the hospital so far.
Excellent referral made by my GP and I was seen within 3 weeks by the consultant at the hospital. All future appointments are booked in advance by the consultant.
I have been to A&E a number of times over the last few years. One should be prepared to wait for at least 4 hours without any support. They are understaffed and need more doctors and nurses ASAP.
I go there regularly for my cardiology appointments. The doctors are excellent and provide all the necessary support.
The hospital services are much better than the GP. The clinics run on time and the doctors explain everything very well.
I was provided with excellent treatment for a stroke on an urgent basis. Very good follow up support provided since the initial treatment.
The doctor didn't conduct a proper examination on me before getting discharged.
It's a waiting game everywhere. If you go to your GP you have to wait for weeks to get an appointment. I go to A&E at City and wait for a few hours to be seen by a doctor. At A&E they give you more time and attention than your GP. It is also easier to get referred from A&E to see a consultant.
They were fine. I didn't wait long when I went for an appointment. The staff were good. I didn't find any faults with the hospital.
They were okay. I had pancreatitis. They thought I was going to die. They sat me down and they were great. The appointment was fine. The appointment also ran on time.
Very old fashioned building with poor facilities and limited staff. Be prepared to wait for hours if you go there.
I went to the treatment centre for bloods and scans. The appointment was on time and the staff were very kind and helpful.
I went to A&E and it was really bad. I waited 15 hours and came in on the ambulance. The nurse that saw me was very rude. They did check up on me every now and again though. It's not a nice hospital.
They were okay. The service was good and they helped my family.
I had a minor accident and it took them 8 days to diagnose a hairline fracture. I tired to access them but was told it wasn't an emergency. I find there are patients in the waiting room that are not needing to really be there. That's probably why they screen people and they missed my diagnosis.
When it's really bad I go to the A&E department where it takes a long time to wait. They do help but the wait is just very long.
I had food poisoning and they were okay. It was a long queue and wait. They were very helpful though. I had to use them as I hadn't registered with the GP at that point.
I went to the treatment centre here for bloods and scans. The staff are very caring and helpful.
I was referred there by my GP to the hand clinic. The referral took 6 months but the consultant that I saw was very helpful.
I went there for bloods and a scan. I was seen on time and the service was very good.
I took my disabled sister to A&E and waited for 7 hours for the doctor to call us in and a check up.
The A&E department building is very old and lacks basic facilities. The staff are rude and unhelpful. The seating and waiting area is in a poor state.
Never seen on time and the waiting area is very dirty and overcrowded.
I went to City hospital for a bladder related check up. I was not impressed at all by the service provided. The consultant was quite insensitive about the issue. Communication and information provided was below average.
My first son was born here and I had a very bad experience here. After giving birth when I was moved to the ward the nurses ignored and avoided me by not responding to the buzzer at all for a full night. They were rude and unhelpful.
The A&E is very busy and very dirty. It's not very nice and you wait so so long. It's horrible. The staff can be rude too. I don't like it. I avoid it like the plague.
I go there for blood screening and scans. They communicate very well through email, SMS and letter.
I went here for bloods and scans. Very helpful staff. The hospital is very clean.
I went to A&E and I waited for 6 hours before I was seen by a doctor and was not offered any hot or cold drinks whilst I was there.
A very long wait and in the end they just send you back home with only pain killers.
Poor communication. Rude staff and a lack of support.
I went to the treatment centre for bloods a number of times. They have very kind and helpful staff. They posted the results within a week and also informed my GP about the test results.
I was in here when I had covid and I had great care. The staff were there one day and not the next as covid was getting everyone but I couldn't fault the care.
I went here with a broken arm and waited for 7 hours before I was seen.
Very poor service received at maternity triage. A very long wait with no support provided at all. I was so disappointed from the maternity services that I changed my hospital to the Birmingham women's.
I went to Birmingham treatment centre here for blood screening a number of times. I've had a very good experience every time.
I had care here when I had prostate cancer. Urology was good. I was referred quickly and they helped me as much as they could. The follow up has not been the best and sometimes they don't explain everything to me. I need to sort out a GP to make sure I'm getting help for when my prostate flares up.
The doctors and nurses were just rushing through without explaining and providing information about the treatment I was receiving.
The hospital gave me a Zimmer frame and have given me a walking aid after a fall. They came out and looked at my house and gave me things to help me. They looked after me well.
Most appointments are sent online. I can't always increase the font on the phone. they come through by text and you get a link. There's no option to use it on anything other than on the phone. I've long given up on letters in large print. City Road have spoken to them and they said its like flogging a dead horse. It's a bit hit and miss. Some are sent by text and some by email. It needs joined up thinking. If you haven't got access to the internet and phones are not appropriate then there needs to be another way.
My grandmother was an inpatient for 3 weeks. Very good support and treatment was provided. All the staff including the nurses were great.
A&E doctors were very poor in picking up the issues. They are more interested in sending you back home ASAP.
I took my child to the treatment centre. We waited a while but were seen by a very good doctor.
No long waits in A&E. I get the help from them. They'll give me medication. Staff are nice you know, I will give them that. Getting around is okay and they let me know what was going on.
I waited a very long time before I was seen but the doctor was good.
I was treated at the cardiology department. The doctors and nurses are excellent.
Parking is not good but the rest is all fine. They see you on time and provide good information.
I went to A&E with chest pain and they provided great support straight away.
I have been to the treatment centre there a number of times for bloods and they are good.
I went there for scans and bloods a number of times. The staff are very rude and unhelpful in general.
I've used A&E a couple of times. It can feel like everyone is on top of one another. The wait feels like forever. I don't really like going but, needs must.
I came to City after being referred on by 111 as I was in pain and I had been to my GP and I had to wait 6 weeks to access treatments as I had already been seen by physio triage previously which didn't work. 111 told me to go to City as I was in pain. They had lost the key to the medicine cupboard and couldn't open it so they could not give me a steroid injection. I had to then wait another 2 weeks for an appointment.
I was referred to ENT for further treatment and got an appointment within a week.
My son was born there and during pregnancy I received very poor care and support. They need to improve.
Very helpful staff. Always seen on time and getting an appointment is very easy. Good communication.
I have kidney disease and they send me here now. They're alright. It's far to get to and I think they're better than the QE but it takes so long and it's costs to go every 3/4 weeks.
Everything is a waiting game. You wait 5 or 6 hours and I feel like they don't help and just tell you to go back to the GP. I just give up. In A&E you wait hours for a doctor and you don't want to leave because you worry.
I had an issue with my thumb. I waited ages in A&E. Did x-rays etc. Staff were alright. They helped me still.
Long waits there and when I do go there they're helpful but I shouldn't have to use them. I should be able to go to my own GP when I am registered with one. What's the point if I can't use them.
Good hospital. Helpful and can get on with them. They listen to me which is all I want from a service really.
I am pregnant and regularly attend the antenatal clinic. The information and support that is provided is excellent.
Excellent experience at maternity ward. Both my kids were born there.
I went there with a heart issue and they referred me to cardiology straight away within 2 hours.
Very high standard of care and support provided by maternity team. Always available to answer any questions by phone or face to face.
I was in City hospital during covid for 3 weeks and what they did for me is a miracle. I can't explain in words. I am still alive because of them.
More communication and information about medical conditions, treatment options and aftercare and support is needed to assist the patient for a better outcome.
I had a heart attack recently. They were good but the information provided and the after care and support was poor.
I had a stroke and went to City hospital they were good.
I went for a scan and MRI. I waited for half an hour because they were running late.
I go to ENT clinic regularly for my throat issues. The doctors are good.
Very long waiting lists for ENT. I have been waiting 6 months to see the specialist.
I have been to the orthopaedic clinics a number of times. They are okay and flexible in changing appointments times and dates.
They were fine. I can't find any fault. All of my children were born there.
Excellent maternity support and care provided. The midwives and nursing team were very helpful and reassuring all of the time.
I went for blood tests, scans and x-rays. Everything was done on the same day. Very quick and efficient.

I had my spleen removal surgery over there. They were amazing. They saved my life.
I broke my wrist and went to A&E. They were very helpful. Everything was sorted in 3 hours.
Went there for blood tests a couple of times. It was quick and easy.
Always good there, good staff, helpful staff. I see the same consultant. They remember me and I have a good chat with them. They're good.
Hospital transport is a long wait but it doesn't matter. They'll give you a 2 hour window and that's okay. As long as I am at the appointment, that's it.
Went for a glucose test. I was told to go by my GP. They were lovely there. They did say that the GP could have done it but they were really good and helpful.
Went into A&E. I thought I would be checked out and sent home. Ended up keeping me in as I had a problem with my blood's. Kept me on bed rest for a week. They just let me out. I was glad to be out but they gave me a number if I was concerned about anything after being discharged.
At City hospital there was a delay and I had to sit for several hours but they were friendly and helped me.
Good hospital. I have been going for years. They're always helpful when I get there and treat me well. I know my way around too.
I was in hospital after a fall. They were good. Stayed a few days and they arranged a care package and they were just overall good. Wouldn't let me leave until it was sorted. They were very very good.
Alright, gynaecology were really good. I know the area and the staff are good. Good helpful hospital.
Nice hospital with polite staff but waiting time is horrible.
A&E is very busy. I burnt myself really bad and went to wait. Couldn't wait as they said it was an 8 hours. Ended up leaving and dressing it myself in until I went to the walk in the next day.
I used to go for diabetes checks. They referred me onto Sandwell during pregnancy then they referred onto women's. Been going there the past 10 years and they have always been great. Will refer me back once I've given birth.
Terrible. They never send letters for appointments and then say that I have missed them. They're terrible. Then I have to go through the whole referral process again.
I was referred from my GP about my eyes. They were excellent but felt they had done all they could in regards to my eyes. They said the best place was QE so referred me onto them. It didn't take too long.
I fell and ended up in A&E. I had no long wait and was taken by ambulance. It was good. I ended up staying in. It was a clean hospital. Staff were great and the food was good.
Went there after a dog bite and they provided excellent support and care.
After 2 years of misdiagnosis for lung failure by GP, finally City hospital identified the main cause of lung failure and referred us to QE.
Had to go for a scan. I recently turned 51 so I was called for a mammogram. It was alright. I was weary of the machines, they explained everything and made sure I understood what was happening. I wasn't there too long and it was a quick appointment.
Good hospital. Good staff. They do provide an interpreter so I know what is happening with my care, appointments are always on time too.
I go here for my hearing aids and they are very good, they're very helpful and I'm seen quickly. No issues here.
Always long waits but nurses and doctors are always very supportive.
Bit of a wait but support provided was excellent during Covid.
Don’t like going there. Staff are always very rude and unhelpful.
Very good experience.
Stayed as an inpatient, wards were clean and food was good. Staff were kind.
Doctors and nurses are great but reception staff can be rude at times.
Went to respiratory clinic, very supportive staff.
That’s where they found out daughter had Leukemia, accused me of hospital hopping. They did send me onto children’s for treatment for daughter.
My husband had high blood pressure and ended up in A&E where we waited 4 or 5 hours to be seen as he had a chest infection and has multiple health conditions. They were good, but it's not right that he can't be seen by his own doctor.
I went for an appointment and it was fine, it was easy to get to and the staff were kind. It was a good experience overall.
They did scan on leg and said everything is okay but my partner is in pain and wants it looked into further.
Breast screening services and thyroid services was very quick appointment within 7 days due to pregnant, when they first diagnosed thyroid problem it took long and got worse and didn't do anything until appointment at the woman's they then gave me medication
Long wait without any help. Can’t believe waited for 12 long hours.
They're good and I find myself going there but they ask me why I don't go the GP, but I can't. They treat me well and got me referred to physiotherapy.
Last month I spent 11 hours waiting in A&E after been brought in by paramedics via 111. When I did get to the doctor they did not know why I was there. The assessment was good but the wait to see a doctor was poor. Nurses are great but the system is broken. In the end I was sent home and told to come back the next day for a scan. I also had to wait 7 hours for results. This happened during the junior doctors strikes.
My mom was sent all the way to the hospital to have her cataracts removed. It was really far for her to get around and for her to go when I don't drive. Wish they would organise her to go to a hospital closer. The hospital itself was good, it's just a far way to come. They treated her well though.
Ended up twice in hospital, ended up in A&E with pain. Touched my stomach and told me not to move which I didn't and she said I can't be in that much pain. Then said they wouldn't operate and sent me home with painkillers.
Excellent had lumpectomy first and then had to go back for total mastectomy because they didn’t manage to get it all away.
I was referred to the Chest Clinic from this hospital. My partner was under them for chest issues and then they referred me for x-rays. Good hospital.
Waiting time really bad. We waited 3 hours with a big gash. One person said she needed stiches other said she needed butterfly stiches. She ended up having butterfly stiches.
I had a bar put in my leg and ended up staying in hospital. Gave me a bit of physiotherapy but it stopped because of lockdown and not heard from them since.
I went to the children's A&E and he was treated within an hour and a half. The treatment was excellent and the staff were brilliant with my son who has autism and they communicated with him really well and made him feel comfortable enough to go into the X-ray by himself.
If I feel I have a pain I will walk into the A&E and there is a long wait there which is ok but when you are in severe pain it is very difficult.
Good experience stayed in for one night, was not bad. Midwifes were really good and took good care of me and my baby.
I had my surgery over there which was good but after care is not that good, very difficult to get follow up appointment.
Staff were excellent and full support provided. But waited for a long time to be called in for appointment.
Had to wait 6 hours – no doctors, they did tests and diagnosed her. She lost lot of wait and was referred to outpatients in the hospital. The care was good and they found out what was wrong with my wife.
Just the same, well organized easy to find way around. Good communication. I understood what they were telling me. they have been brilliant.
The maternity care is not good here. I went in during covid 2020 to triage at 5am as I was 20+5 weeks pregnant and I was bleeding and feeling pressure. I spoke to the receptionist who said very sharply 'well maybe you're having a miscarriage' but she was so rude and she was speaking rubbish to me. They took me to a room in triage where she examined me and I gave birth. They later let my husband into me but it was not a very nice experience for me. It upset me so much.
Very good they are brilliant, I was looked after very well.
Diabetes team are amazing based on the individuals giving care. I have a long standing relationship with them and they were fantastic. They transferred me to the Women's during this pregnancy. I was originally transferred to Sandwell but they cancelled the appointment there as the care was transferred to the Women's.
Sleep apnea – They are good, can get appointment the staff are really kind. They listen to me and I feel listened to. They were good during Covid, Very happy with them.
Heart clinic is good, can always get an appointment.
No aftercare available for menopause support. Had hysterectomy no follow up support offered at all. The service is poor, I need help and support which is not there.
Husband had a ruptured appendix. He was in severe pain and got there at 7pm, he was then transferred to another hospital at 11pm. A&E should have assessed him quicker. Staff were not compassionate.
I go there for my treatment. The hospital does look a bit run down but the staff there are excellent. No long waits for appointments at ENT or to be seen. They are brilliant.
I was there 3 weeks ago in the A&E in the early hours of the morning. Consultant was good with me. Hospital is in disrepair, it's a dive, it needs demolishing.
I went to the maternity triage with concerns and even though I wasn't registered to them, they saw me and helped me when I was having pains.
The care was good here but it was too far and I struggled to get there and back. So they transferred my care to the Women's hospital, it's all be pretty straight forward.
Everything is run down, seems its been done on purpose. They are understaffed. I don't use any of the services, there's no point, too much bureaucracy. Good with me, looked after me. They were excellent. But I think the NHS has been designed to fail.
I had my son there 13 months ago. I had a caesarean in the end, they were good.
I had a bleed on my brain, ended up staying in for 3 months. They took a white to get to the bottom of things and to tell that it was a brain bleed. Once they found out, they transferred me to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
Took a long time but they did help my daughter, it’s just the waiting around.
I have liver issues and used to go once a year, last time I went was last year and they were good. I'm always in and out of hospital. They scan my liver when I'm there but my mom deals with most of it.
I go for regular appointments here for my liver. They are good the staff are, nurses are nice too.
I had an MRI and some blood tests done here. The hospital is so good. We have no issues with them.
Couldn’t fault the staff. Staff have been fantastic in ENT department. When calling the department I was by mistake transferred to cardiology department but the staff over there transferred me back to ENT. The person over there went the extra mile and helped as I don’t think the GP had actually sent the referral.
The nurses and doctors are good and kind, but the environment was a nuisance when I stayed there for 4 weeks. There were quite a few patients who were severely ill and treated badly, I felt they didn't get the help they needed. I felt well enough to go home but they wouldn't allow me to leave. The food wasn't good and I ended up discharging myself. I didn't get the help I needed.
Endocrine, really nice. I am very pleased with the services. Follow up on phone, check up on medication. Good that can be on the phone so I don’t have to travel all that way.
Ended up having a hysterectomy due to cancer. The hospital were excellent. Kept me informed. Spoke through the procedure told me what would happen step by step, kept me comfortable. I couldn’t have asked for better care.
Ended up in intensive care at City hospital and they referred me to Sandwell because of conditions and no longer had space. Was there for week, good care only in intensive care. TV do keep mind occupied. Then again transferred to Heartlands.
Had issues with my back with severe pain, given morphine to kill the pain in ward 7, but didn’t feel nurses treated me that well. Nurses threatened to put me in the white room psychiatric ward. Was not getting good portions / quality of food. It brought me to tears I didn’t feel safe, there was someone guarding someone in the bed next to me.
I had a mild stroke and see the consultant there every 3 weeks to do muscle therapy. They treated me well and helped me back to health and with my recovery. Good hospital and staff, they were all brilliant.
They are good went for a check up appointment. Always treat me with respect and let me know what’s going on.
I wasn't impressed. It could have been more nicer, had better expectations with it being my first baby. I asked for help with how to change a nappy, the midwife said I should watch a Youtube video. I was not impressed by them. They were helpful in the delivery room but when I went to the ward, that's when I didn't find it helpful.
My mom is staying in the hospital. It's a really good hospital and I'm really happy with moms care at the moment.
I went to A&E a few months ago. Waited a while but they were good and helpful.
I ended up going to City Hospital to sort out my problems. I went to the A&E department as I was unable to get an appointment with my own doctor.
She told me what to do and said there was nothing more she could do to help ne with my situation at the time. They done some tests, they were good.
They were really really good when I had my child there. The staff were really nice. Good overall experience giving birth there.
They kept me in for one week after I had my accident and then they referred me to the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital. I have also attended the rheumatology department, it took a while for me to get referred from my GP as I saw them last year about my issue and finally got my first appointment last week.
Process of booking interpreter is very difficult for that you have to phone which I can’t. As a result usually I don’t have a interpreter. There is a nurse who does interpretation for me.
Once I went to A&E with cut on my head and they put stiches on it even though I didn’t wanted it but was unable to communicate because of lack of BSL interpreter and they put the stiches, which was very painful.
Waited in A&E for 7 hours but when they did see me they were good.
I had a c-section and had to stay in for 4 days. I didn't find the hospital clean, especially the bathrooms, and there was no privacy on the wards. They were too loud for babies, women were playing music loud on their phones.
Some of the midwives were good and one stayed and came to see me after I had had the baby. But the midwives on the ward after having my baby were not so good. I considered making a complaint but never followed it up
Rheumatoid arthritis - 3 months blood tests are amazing, really good. Even during lockdown, continuity of care. Went in during Covid.
Definitely no complains, in and out in no time. Appointments send through text and send a letter afterwards. Know my way around. Difficult to find parking at times. But fine.
Waiting since long for appointment for injection in foot at hospital. I have been to hospital before and they were good, but have not heard from them since and had to chase up.
It’s alright stayed as an inpatient. Decent clean ward and nurses are okay. Explained things to me, kept me informed. Food was alright.
Feel comfortable, they treat me well. Always feel welcomed. Go if I can’t see my GP.
They ignore you and make you wait longer. They forget about you, after all the wait they send me to Sandwell hospital. Rubbish service
Went to city hospital for a chest X-ray and blood test, it was very quick and didn’t wait long. Doctors and receptionist were all very friendly.
Went to City hospital for operation. Couldn’t fault them at all, all staff were great..
Had a prostate operation there. Staff were brilliant.
Always send me there. They are very nice and I have visited many departments there. They always treat me well.
Long waits in the A&E. I didn't want to go but the urgent care centre wouldn't see me. It takes so long, no communication and it feels like you're waiting an eternity to be seen. Its rubbish, so dirty as well.
I was in City Hospital for 5 days after my knee operation. I also saw the physiotherapist there. Physiotherapist was good but took too long to get the appointment.
When I had covid I had to stay for a few days. The ward was nice but I was really poorly with covid. But nice staff, great care and kept my family in the know about what was going on with me.
Fine no complains. Been through A&E and as an inpatient.
Full medical checkup didn’t take a long time to get an appointment. The health insurance registered me with a GP and arranged for me to have my full checkup.
Mom’s been hare a few times and they really looked after her.
Really good, we go for appointments. I don’t see anything wrong with this hospital.
For most of my maternity appointments I have to wait for more than 1h
It was alright easy to get to and go around as hospitals go. They do care, they were okay with me in Hospital. Sometimes I feel like I understand and they explain everything to me.
I cut open my foot, went to A&E at 10:30am and they told me it would be a 4.5 hour wait. The nurse said she couldn't check the wound if there was a splinter in it. I waited until 1pm. I saw triage within 1 hour of arriving. I came away in the end because it was taking too long and seeked private medical advice from a doctor. They told me to clean the wound and put on an antiseptic bandage.
Alright appointment, seen me before my appointment time 10 mins. Send appointment details 4 days before appointment.
I went to city hospital and there was a nurse on the door and she said Covid at this hospital, please take extra precautions. I really needed to see someone so ended up going to Sandwell A&E and waited 7 hours for a doctor to see me.
Had an operation, doctor and nurses were very nice. I have no complaints. Food was not good but clean hospital.
Inpatient treatment very good but poor outpatients treatment. Have to chase and wait long for appointments.
Wonderful, I love it. as much as you can. Medical staff are wonderful. Can’t fault them. I love them. I like in there. Replaced my hips and knees. I am bionic, they look after me. I am well looked after.
Very professional seen in a timely manner. Clear and concise in the information they were giving me following my Xray. They were very reassuring and patient and answer all the questions I was happy with everything before leaving the hospital.
Son had a fever for 4 days, took him there. They were helpful and good. son was born at the hospital too. Good experience and good midwives.
They said that the external hearing aid would not work for my hearing, So I thought that I wouldn't be able to to have it.
Okay. My daughter broke her arm and they were not very good. Long waits in A&E so we weren't seen for 6-8 hours. They didn't let us know what was going on.
My friend had a fall. He got in touch with me and an ambulance came and took him to City Hospital. He was seen quickly by orthopaedics and was put in a neck brace and they said he could go home but he was being sick. The physiotherapist came to see him and said he wasn't well and organised for him to be moved to a ward. The staff in A&E didn't introduce themselves and were quickly in and out when they came to see him. On the ward he was moved to, the staff were really friendly, really good. However, my friend had a further diagnosis, and they told him thus when he was by himself, not when he had family around.
Pretty reasonable, happy with service and staff.
Good. GP booked appointment for me and they checked my chest. They were good.
Palliative care team was good. Moved three times in the hospital. She would say where is my daughter. 3:30am moved mum back to care home. Shouldn’t have done that.
They admitted me for 3 days. They do a good job, they don’t help me. they have to know what’s going on with the children.
Had two glaucoma surgeries on her eyes. I think right eye is not working properly.
I had my knees done here, was in and out the same day, they can do it.
It's okay, just okay. Staff are fine, brilliant consultants, they're lovely. You wait there longer than you would at the Children's. The buildings nasty, its run down. Have people lying all over the chairs that shouldn't be there.
It's okay, but the night staff were not very nice. I was in there for 5 days after having my son. My son pood when he was born and had an infection. I was told by the day staff to not leave him when I went to the toilet and to buzz if I needed them. When I did buzz for the staff, She told me don't use it, it's for emergency only. I found them not good. I did not like my stay. The night staff were very very careless.
They're good. I get all my appointments on time, I don't have to chase them at all. Get all of my letters and I'm happy there.
I had an appointment with the midwife for my 12 week scan. I started to bleed heavily as I was going to my appointment. I got to my appointment and told the receptionist what was happening and she said the midwives would not see me and to go striaght to A&E. The nurses were so personable in A&E. The doctor who saw me treated me like she didn't care about me. She said to me, 'why would you want the baby, let nature take it's course'. She then went on to show me what my body was expelling. There were two nurses there and they were so personable, they really listened to me, very positive about what was happening. They went above and beyond.
I was sent to A&E for an x-ray when I hurt my hand. I saw the triage nurse who sent me to another doctor. A&E was full, but I was sent to another room where there was one person in front of me so not so bad. I saw a nurse and doctor, they put a splint on my hand and sent me home with paracetamol and Ibuprofen.
Really good experience of having my son here, when I arrived there it was empty. Had him before lockdown, was a good experience and husband could stay with me.
I had both my children here and they were fantastic in comparison to heartlands when I have been with my sister when she gave birth. The nurses couldn't have done more for me and my children. I had a very good experience.
It was alright, I had a major operation, it was okay. I was telling them that I was allergic to penicillin and they gave me it after me telling them that. But everyone makes mistakes.
I went in with a white stick and they asked me to register myself in the building with the computer. I am registered blind. Covid is stopping me from having eye surgery, they say it's not an emergency but I can't see to cross the road, how can that not be an emergency.
Pretty bad, I broke my foot went and I went for an X-ray. They also gave me an appointment to have my gallbladder removed and they keep cancelling it and leaving it. I keep getting flare ups and I just want it out.
I gave birth here. They saved my life. They were so good. Nothing but good things to say about them.
Communication is poor but all the doctors are very good & helpful.
I had midwife appointments at Aston Villa with my son. I had different midwife every time I went. No continuity of care. The midwife I saw with my daughter was the same. Had to chase the midwives, wasn't something I should be doing.
The badger app was good because I can see everything, but it didn't publish blood test results or urine test results. The app would always say not published.
Couldn't fault them. They were really good. When I went up to the ward I saw the same midwife for the 2 days. I was there after having a C section.
Always been there since I was a teenager. I've built up support with diabetes team so not always seeing a different clinician. Generally quite managed. Appointments can be quite spaced but that wouldn't be so much if the service wasn't so stretched.
I had a stroke and ended up here. I've always been alright whenever I've been here and the girls are brilliant there.
Its alright. It can have its moments.
Good very good, Staff was good and so was doctors.
I had scans done over there and they were brilliant.
I took my husband to A&E with chest pain and they checked him straight away and provided the support immediately.
I see the MS Nurse through City Hospital. They contact me every 6 months, they are good.
The A&E department is very time consuming, it's long winded.
I had my last MRI scan at this hospital and the neurologist was meant to phone me. No-one called me. They cancelled one of my appointments and I've not even had a call to say why it was cancelled.
I had a mamba attack, I didn't like A&E. Would have rather gone to my doctor. They didn't treat me very well. They couldn't prioritise me.
They are good and quite quick when they see you. Need to find a NHS dentist.
I have liver cirrhosis and will be starting treatment. My knees are not good either.
Had 14 operations at various hospitals including the City hospital and they have always looked after me fine.
Went to A&E and was out in an hour – good service. They took out glass from my foot.
I was taken there with heart problem and they were good.
The hospital staff is amazing.
They were alright better than I thought it would be. Had ear infection and went to the hospital, where they would not refer him to specialist.
Worse experience of my life, went to A&E after having a fall at ASDA. I went to A&E at 4:30 pm and was seen at 2am. I was sitting without any support.
Went to city hospital breathing department for check-ups. They said need to increase pressure for sleep apnea. Increasing pressure kept me awake.
Went there for cellulitis. They were very good and through. Was there last week.
Hospital first time visit I went wasn’t very nice. Been again okay. The doctor was funny.
Went to A&E for my moms foot looking like that, they gave her tablets - it did not help. But again they did not take her condition seriously.
It was OK. Went towards the end of pregnancy. So had to wait a long to be examined due pre term labour and risk of infection.
Further to a recent admission for shingles in May for my mother she was given too many painkillers which led to her becoming unresponsive, she then developed pneumonia and the severe magnesium deficiency. Over the queens jubilee she then had diahorrea for 7 days and there was very limited drs to help. Nurses on ward were rude, unsympathetic and shielded behind old Covid visiting rules to prevent us from seeing her . They were more concerned with enforcing the visiting policy at the time than listening to myself and family as carers for mom. Mom had language difficulties also but they weren't concerned by this. We requested call backs from the Dr in charge and this did not happen , the only way we got to speak to him was by visiting the wards everyday at his ward round times. Overall our experiment was absolutely appalling and we are putting in a formal complaint.
Used to go Dudley Road regularly for my steroid injections in my knee and for consultations.
It's difficult sometimes. When there's no interpreter I don't understand the information. They're miserable. I tell them I can't hear.
The treatment centre were so good, they are brilliant. I have appointments and I go there. I don't have to wait a long time. The signage isn't very good but the staff are really nice.
They're fine, I was referred by my GP and it was a quick referral process. The care was good but I didn't like what they did. I had a blocked artery and they gave me loads of meds that I told them I couldn't have. They didn't study me to see what's what.
They've been brilliant, can't fault them. They give me my appointments on the badger app, but In prefer the old green notes as on the app there's no addresses for the appointments as they use a coding system. That's not communicated well.
They made everything go quick, now it's okay. They treated me well. The doctor was cool. They explained everything to me and even got an interpreter too. They book in regular 6 month check up's with me too.
They are really good. Every time I visit, they treat me with the specifics and I am given the treatment I need.
I was calling the nurses to give me tea and they ignored me. They upset me, then my sister came and gave me a drink. The staff did not pay attention to me. I believe they have a lot on their plate.
My daughter has been coming here for many years to visit the epilepsy nurse. They monitor my daughter and speak through what is going on with my daughters condition.
I underwent surgery here for my breast cancer. They were fantastic, but I think they need to work more joint up with the other hospital I was under for treatment.
My son sees the Nutritionist and Dermatologist here and since they took over my sons care, I have been very happy with the service. They are brilliant. It did take a long time to be referred to them and my sons condition did get worse with the wait but I am overall happy with the service.
Every month I attend the SCaT Centre at City Hospital and whilst most of the nurses are welcoming and communicate well, I find some of them to be unprofessional and lacking in empathy and understanding . It's almost like they are operating in robot mode.
I am still waiting for an appointment for my blood treatment for my Sickle Cell.
I have been to this hospital many times but one time when I showed up to an appointment they told me I was meant to attend St James healthcare centre instead of the hospital. I need better access to health.
My GP sent me to City Hospital for an MRI scan as I had been experiencing headaches which they thought could have been Meningitis, but when I got there, I coughed once and the Nurse said I had Covid where I was then transferred to a covid ward for more than 4 hours, even though it was not confirmed I had Covid. It has really put me off visiting this hospital again.
After 5 hours of waiting I was too tired and left.
Pretty busy – Respiratory team super duper busy. Great level of care.
They are good but I can only get certain medicines from them.
They are okay, good communication with patients. Doctors are understanding I get my treatment fine and they share information with me.
Good because they understand my case.
Consultant very good.
My visit was wonderful.
History of heart problems. So went to hospital. Sat in chair. Done bloods & ECG, sat in reception for 3 hours until I was seen again. I have anxiety and I was by myself.
New treatment centre for COPD is a good service.
I had an infection went to hospital and waited for couple of hours. Really good service.
I have been waiting for 2 years for knee operation. They say its not life threatening so I have to wait.
Long wait but excellent support provided.
Waiting for surgery appointment.
Very quick appt for the haematuria clinic. Staff took time to introduce themselves and what to expect. Especially grateful to two nurses.
Again, quick appt for ct scan, was in and out of the dept within 30 mins. City hospital treatment Centre
I have had very good service. We have the best hospital in the world and I am cared for well.
I was admitted to Covid ward. They provided me with excellent support and service. Thank You.
Great care by the staff on the unit but awful phone lines when trying to obtain information
Lack of continuity of care lead to a confused approach both by medics and nurses. This meant the admission was inappropriately long and unsatisfactory.
Was seen promptly after I attended A&E where I was quickly X-rayed and diagnosed with a fractured shoulder. Staff were absolutely brilliant - making sure I was as comfortable as possible and patiently explaining the process for transferring me to Sandwell Hospital.
Attitude of staff (Nurses) is very bad. The nurses treat patients very badly.
Cardiology Ward D
Went to A&E was on the floor in pain no consideration shown by staff. Not helpful at all.
Waiting time is horrible but once you are there it's ok.
Brilliant service. Extremely good care. Prioritise care needs and put patients first.
Lack of communication at every level, nobody knows what they are doing.
Excellent support was provided during pregnancy.
Waited long for the appointment but the consultation with the doctor was very good.
Recently my baby was born at the city hospital. overall it was ok, bit rushed at the end.
The staff at Thalassemia centre are very good and caring.
It's not bad.
They misdiagnosed my daughter.
Very poor communication with me and my family when I was there for treatment.
They are very disorganized.
Both my kids were born there. They are very good.
Excellent when dealing with my son who had 2 broken fingers
They seen to be interested and helpful ,phoned appointment, laid out what to do next ,I did it ,they said they would send test bottles for me to send back , they did not send and sent a letter saying i had not sent bottles so no follow-up, I have been really ill and phoned the Secretary and explained the bottles hasn't been sent so she sent them and i returned them and waited for results ,no word so phoned Secretary and she said the consultant had left the trust, so they will put a flag on my notes for the new consultant to write to me ,she said it could take two weeks, but to phone if i haven't heard and keep phoning....
Virtual call on time. checking who I am before discussion, consultation as good as being seen face to face as spoke at a pace for me and could understand. Time for question.
Good and bad - had to go for a scan on a Sunday.afternoon excellent service for the elderly only, also had appointments cancelled/ delayed , was also told by one consultant( who has left now) that I shouldn't keep attending the clinic as I was too old and had too much wrong with me.
Excellent
Cancer follow up with ENT over the last 4 years.
Very safe and clean, it was very organised there were no patients hanging around everyone was being directed where to go and keep a safe distance, even the person giving the vaccine explained in detail what they were doing, afterwards you was looked after and asked if you felt well and as people were leaving the chairs were getting deep cleaned
The staff were professional and friendly. Very helpful. Put me at ease. The whole experience was quick and very efficient.
From the moment I received a letter asking for me to contact them to make a mutual appointment to the end of my procedure I was fully informed and made to feel at ease. The department appeared organised and professional.
good
It's hit n miss which nurses you get as to weither your experience is good or bad I have been there 4 times in two weeks 3 were very good the other one I was left on a ward booked in for an hour n a half it's only cause I interrupted the nurses chatting I said am I having my infusion they didn't even know I hadn't been put on canular wasn't even done.
Absolutley tip top service and care.
I am working as a part time interpreter, but when I experienced service provided there in AMU and afterwards at ward 26 I was overly disappointed regarding care in the ward. It needs a lot more effort, staffing and passionate communication levels to deal with sick people.
Just gave birth last Feb and it was very good service eapecially It was a emergency cesarean.
Good
It's very good great service doctor nurses are very friendly
THE CARE AND CONSIDERATION TAKEN WITH MY FATHER ON MY BEHALF ON (COVID) WARDS, WHO SADLY PASSED AWAY JANUARY 2020-=GOOD COMMUNICATION SKILLS, REDSPECTFUL
very good
I am unable to get an appointment - my GP gave me a Choose and Book referral but they were not allowing me to make appointments. I am having minor reactions most days despite relevant medication and being very careful. I have hives, gastric symptoms, ulcers in my mouth, red sore throat, swelling to my lips, ear lobes and throat. I am rating this service Average as I haven't experienced it. I know that there is Covid but I cannot even get on the waiting list, I cannot work, I'm in limbo
Very warm welcome to covid-19 Vaccine site at Sandwell by Security staff at door, check my ID and ask if I am here for my 2nd dose, Guide me to the admin staff at reception and then ask me to go inside and wait for some one to give me vaccine, It was very quick and easy, Good job
A few months ago my mum was in hospital and she does not speak English and staff at the hospital don't talk to the family to update and my mother didn't know what was happening..
I’m currently 32 weeks pregnant with twins and I’m categorized as having a high risk pregnancy. I’ve done a lot of chasing of health care providers and professionals during my antenatal care. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, I had to attend appointments without my partner, which has been challenging and isolating. In August, I was referred to a specialist emotional care midwife for emotional support about the pregnancy. She referred me to a counsellor, and the next time i saw her she asked if the counsellor had been in touch. When I said no, she explained that they’re probably just very busy. You tend to find, that they give it the talk of what can be done to support you with mental health but underneath there isn’t much action.
Due to the high risk of my pregnancy, at 26 weeks I was told by the maternal medicine unit that I need to be transferred from City Hospital to Birmingham Women’s Hospital. However, the midwife didn’t know how to do the referral and referred me to my doctor, the doctor didn’t know how to do it, then I was referred back to maternal medicine and another midwife there didn’t know how to do it. Nobody got back to me about this. Then at 31 weeks, a different midwife was able to make the referral with a couple of clicks. Now I am being told the transfer is being declined and to reapply for a referral in 3 months, which at this point I will have given birth. I’m having to work with my senior GP to appeal this. On the other hand, I’m being sent appointments that are irrelevant to me.
All of this run around has been so frustrating. You walk out the door after someone has said they will look into a query but you’re the one left having to chase it up and are forgotten about. Midwifes don’t really recommend of post-birth, perinatal information and services which would be helpful, especially for new moms and partners. I was able to do my own research but these should be recommended by midwives to enable people to look for this support. Those in between bits are all missing, unfortunately, to talk about emotions and what you’re going to go through in the future . It’s all been very taxing. These things need to be improved.

Absolutely amazing, can not fault the nurses who seen me at all.

Recently I was admitted for an operation. The consultant was very good and helpful but the nursing staff were very rude and unhelpful. After the operation, I was heavily sedated and needed support but they let me go to the toilet alone. On discharge, no proper letter and aftercare plan was given. I am a diabetic and before the operation my sugar level was not checked.

I have been to City hospital many times in the past few years. I am shocked by how bad hospital care has become during my lifetime. I expected things to have improved, not regressed to the levels they have. I am appalled by what has become of the NHS and am dreading that I will ever need to return to the hospital or to try to negotiate the labyrinth of social care services.
Drop-In Session 25/09/20
I went to A&E a year ago because I was directed to do so by the NHS helpline staff, and I was shocked by how dirty and dilapidated the department was and by the lack of information and communication from the staff. A staff member directed me to the wrong waiting area and thereby extended my wait unnecessarily by at least an extra hour.

I went to day surgery unit and was sitting in the recovery area, when a nurse told me that I needed to move to a different area and look at me like I was dirt for asking if they could please take my bag (which we were asked to bring in case we had to be admitted to a ward) because I had been told by another nurse that I must not lift it in case of bursting my stitches.

I had to have day surgery two years ago and my experience was not that good, as they discovered post-surgery that there was a problem with the cannula and I was not getting fluids; this meant that despite being the first person into surgery in the morning, I was the last person to recover sufficiently to be allowed home. During that day, I heard another patient being told that their cannula was also not working; and I witnessed an hour-long 'hunt the drug cupboard key' session in which all of the staff were preoccupied with that rather than the patients' care.

In the past few years, I have been seen by doctors who have graduated from other countries and to me it seems they don’t have proper training and approach in managing patients. I feel the level of care has gone down in recent years.

A pea-sized lump emerged from my urethra one morning, with slight bleeding. On phoning my GP the Practice nurse said if it was bleeding go to A&E. I went to our local hospital, City Hospital. I had a moderate but acceptable wait to get into A&E, then a longer wait for someone to come and look. Eventually a doctor came, with a student, took one look at my nether regions, drew back repulsed, (I know I had come before having my morning shower but....) said yuk, didn't know what it was , said it needed attention, to go back to my GP to get booked into a Gynaecology clinic. I knew I would be unable to get a GP appointment till middle of the next week and hence at least 10 days to get a clinic appointment so I pleaded with Doctor if she could book me in, after much reluctance she agreed she would and I would be phoned on Friday. No call on Friday. Saturday the lump was much bigger and turned black, to me with bio-medical experience it had obviously got twisted and blood was accumulating in the lump. Phoned the local emergency doctor number and managed to get an appointment with a local emergency clinic later that morning.

I have been here before, this is a follow up appointment. Treatment has been really good. Staff is very helpful. Waiting time not to bad in treatment centre.
Thank you for your comments. We welcome feedback to improve the quality of our services and to tell us what we are doing well.
Had my kidney out here. No problems at all. Good staff and care. Treatment explained well. Very clean, nurse cleaned as well as the cleaners. Never had a problem at Birmingham treatment centre and City hospital.
Thank you for your comments. We welcome feedback to improve the quality of our services and to tell us what we are doing well.
Ive been here of couple of times- staff are highly professional and explain treatment well- no real issues-they listen and work with me on my care and treatment-discuss things
Third visit - no communication on the visits, Ive previously had to the hospital or today to say doctors and consultants are running late- this really needs improving. gave me the splint and bandage to cover my own hand which had been stitched (instead of putting it on for me-he expected me to put this on the evening and take it off the following day- really not good enough- I had to go to my GPs in the end to get them to help me out) - extremely annoying and frustrating.
Been here many times and our 3 children born here. Care and treatment very good . waiting time not excessive.
Sometimes the care is good, sometimes not so good. I get kept waiting sometimes, like today for over 20 mins- making me late to get back to work. Care and treatment is good when I get seen.
Good care but like with everything there's room for improvement.
Staff was helpful at times but there was no toilet paper in toilets. This area was well clean and maintained though found it a bit too warm and muggy and self-check in was out of order but staff was helpful. I think there should be better signs for directions to locations around the hospital. I think there should be a better system when in waiting area due to overrunning of time by an hour with no communication at all. To find out that we need to do something else before been seen.
On arriving for an appointment the front desk staff are not smiling. It is 10 am and there is a huge queue, actually three or four queues. Some for staff check in and some to speak to advisor. It is utter chaos. Does not look like a professional organisation. Seems as though only one lady is helping people the others are sitting behind desk directing public to self-check-in. overheard someone asking for help and told to use self- check in. People complaining and queues mounting up.
I am here for a follow up appointment at cardiology. I’ve been an inpatient lots of time because I have COPD and get chest infections. Food is awful, can’t even get a decent cup of tea. Care I received was satisfactory.
From the time I first seen doctor it has only taken eight weeks to see the consultant. Very quick service and hospital very clean.
More beds needed in hospital, my mum waited at Sandwell Hospital for whole day before being transferred to City Hospital, due to the lack of beds. Nurse really look after her wellbeing.
Parking is very expensive.
Can’t complain about service everything gone to plan.
Virtually impossible to speak to our daughter’s consultant separately. Have waited in excess of 30 mins in a phone queue and then been cut off because on in queen for a long time. I put down the phone and gave up because I was convinced none was there.
Pleasant and knowledgeable staff. Our consultant is super.
Very rough, poor facilities
Staff very good
I would never tell anyone to have the baby at City Hospital. Serenity Suite is stunning, one midwife saying push, one saying don't push - baby's heartbeat dropping, lady eating chewing gum.
- Found out I had cancer during delivery, 3 tumours came away - it seemed like they were playing with them.
Treatment Centre better - communication could be better.
Meant to be having a scrape/camera but booked in for preparation for hysterectomy.
Good service - really pleased.
Communication between trusts needs improving - should be speaking to each other - If I have an appointment at one hospital - any hospital should be able to tell me and when.
- That way I can avoid having 2 appointments at the same time on the same day.
- Lack of signposting in hospital - It says go to so and so place but then no signs about.
Really good service, really pleased.
As an outpatient with a recurring foot injury, I have regularly used the services by both hospitals. My experience on the whole has been quite positive; regarding the staff in particular. However, on this particular day the clinic is apparently running a massive two hours late! As I have had to attend various clinics in the past, I know what this can occur due to unforeseen circumstances, but the regularity of this is a concern. Instances such as this can also prove costly due to the cost of parking at these hospitals.
City Hospital and NHS in general
Not satisfied with service at all. Took 4 years and now been sent back by GP. They know the problem - same problem but not getting resolved. Done laser treatment, injections, tablets, when I actually need a small operation - going on for 4 years. Problems actually getting worse - not sleeping properly.
The communication of staff should be improved.
Hassle looking for the right departments; no reception on the ward for assistance.
Made to feel relaxed and welcome by reception and all nursing staff including doctor.
on Sunday the 9th June, my husband came to City hospital by hospital at approx. 9.00pm. We were treated so well in A and E all the staff went out of their way to help him. He was then admitted to Assessment ward 1 where again he was treated so well. Thank you to all the staff you are amazing.
Thank you so much for taking the time to give us your comments. We welcome feedback to improve the quality of our services and to tell us what we are doing well.
We have been to family clinic to do a check up and unfortunately ended up in A&E because patients condition got worse. While in city hospital A&E and then Gynaecology, they kept our family for more than 6.5 hours waiting for a doctor. At this point they had more than 7 midwifes and nurses. From 4-10:52 we wait for doctor to check sounds, ridiculous.

Waiting area should have TV. If there is a long wait patients should be informed about it so that they are prepared for it. Books and toys needed for children to keep them busy. Bigger room needed to accommodate more people with comfortable chairs.
My sister has sickle cell and gets treatment at city hospital quite regularly. The service she receives is very good. They are aware of her condition and needs.
I have lumps on my womb that requires a procedure that should have happened 2 weeks after finding them. I have been waiting since before Christmas . Follow up appointments keep getting cancelled and now is in June. Can’t have procedure unless awake although I know people who have been put to sleep to have it and won’t give me a full hysterectomy even though I have 3 children and had 28 miscarriages.
I was suffering severely with anxiety and insomnia after being refused help from CMHT I went to RAID. The nurse refused to assess me, she dismissed the fact that I was worried about my mental health and physical health through lack of sleep. I have had bad bouts like this before and had spent weeks applying for people's title plans and deeds on my street. Had started a hate campaign against neighbours who I have always got along with reporting them for moving fences and chopping a tree down. I am so horrified by my actions, but my GP, the CMHT and this nurse all failed to help me at a time that I desperately needed it. To be going through anxiety and having to beg for help to sleep is bad enough as it is, but to treated the way this nurse treated me in A and E is similar to another treatment I had in the hospital. From what I can gather she is supposed to be a mental health nurse, so she should recognise anxiety and know the risks lack of sleep would have on me.
But after another terrible experience in A and E and applying for my medical records, it appears she had me down as 'clearly seeking benzos' I'm sure my bank statement and my mounds of neighbours title plans,, reports to the council and fire service will show a very different picture when. My medical history will also show that I am not a benzo seeker at all, I have had 1 prescription of diazepam in my life and 1 lorozopam and 1 diazepam in the accident and emergency dept when I have been in total despair. I'm sorry if I don't fit the picture of someone who is worthy of mental health care when I desperately need it, I'm sorry that I even need to ask for help, but this nurse along with the others mentioned above have left me feeling that I am a liar who has nothing better to do with my life than sit in accident and emergency for 1 pill to try and calm me down and go to sleep.
I had been to the RAID team previously and the staff were very nice and didn't tell me they were setting boundaries as this nurse did.

We took our son to City Hospital as he broke his wrist. The waiting area at A&E is really uncomfortable and some of the seats are broken. It is very cold in the waiting room and you don’t have any access to drinking water or food whilst waiting unless you have brought some cash with you. The seats should at least be a bit more comfortable as they waiting times are so long. They should also have a separate, quiet area to wait with children and some children’s toys. It is unclear where you need to wait to be called to be first assessed and the screens are not in use when you are called in. The toilets were not clean either. The receptionists do not give you much information. The doctor who saw our son put a temporary plaster in his hand and said that it does not need to be manipulated, but in the end after a follow up x-ray, after ten days and when the bone had already started to heal, we were told he would need an operation under general anaesthetics after all. It should have been done in the first instance rather than letting the bone start to heal.

I normally use a walking frame but when I come to hospital I have to use a wheelchair. This is organised by the nursing home I live in. The ambulance brought me here. They just leave me then fetch me. My appointment is after 2pm and I arrived at 1.30pm, so its a long wait. I am diabetic but sometimes when I am at hospital I don't know how long I will need to wait and need someone to help me with food and drink. No one has asked me if I need food and drink, or the toilet there is no receptionists.

The seats were terribly dirty and I found myself having to bring baby wipes with me to wipe them down. I was that disgusted with them they looked as if they had never been cleaned.
I was waiting about an hour which was difficult with a child.
Food and drink was available but at an extortionate price.

Roughly have been waiting 12 - 14 hours. 4 hours for ambulance, 4 hours in a corridor, 4 hours been seen by someone where by results haven't been given
It's not good for an 80 year old who suffers from many disabilities
Spending lots of my life waiting around in hospital or waiting for ambulances

The signing in at the hospital wasn't efficient due to not being able to work it out, made appointment difficult and longer than needed.
Waited about an hour which wasn't too bad but could be better.

Staff are caring and supportive
Waiting times can be lengthy and would be good if patients were made aware when waiting times are in place.
Staff have been very respectful and reception staff have been great. They are caring.
Waiting area is not very well signed off and doesn't have different sections.
There's nowhere to get a glass of water.
Toilets are horrific and some of the seats are broken.
A little bit off clarity would be good, why not separate one waiting area to triage and then another to wait to be seen
I was called by name.
Even a glass of water would be better than vending machines.

I had hysterotomy done at city in July 2017. The surgeon was very much to the point and as direct and positive as he could be to deliver bad news. He said, I am very sorry, it is cancer, but we will sort it. It made me feel more confident. I also had chemotherapy at City Hospital. I was offered an opportunity to have a look around the facilities before starting the treatment made a difference. Staff were very efficient, I had a reaction to chemo and I had people around me immediately. The receptionist was lovely person and known to everyone, very nice people.
Nurse didn't do blood test very well, bruised my arm and area where needle was inserted to draw blood, didn't find vein very well
I have 3 children, my oldest sadly passed away when he was 9 months old due to brain tumour. My second was born via C-Section. Because of this, when I was pregnant with my 3rd, I had lots of midwife appointments. I felt throughout my pregnancy really stressed because of previous treatment experience. When I was 7 months pregnant I was meant to have an appointment to go through my birth plan and previous C-Section experience. However I only ended up having this appointment just two weeks before giving birth. I was really anxious and the appointment made me even more anxious, as it was really negative experience. They hadn’t read my notes about the loss of my first child and gastroenteritis during pregnancy so I had to keep repeating/re-living that traumatic experiences.
All the worst case scans also made me feel very anxious and worried that something would happen to my baby. Because of the worst case scenario I was also worrying about childcare for my middle child, and how she would cope if we end up in hospital for long time etc. maybe if this appointment had been earlier I would have more time to get into positive mind set instead of very stressful last two weeks of pregnancy.
In the end I had my baby at home and everything was fine. They should have been positive instead of being negative. On another occasion, whilst I was having a midwife appointment a women just walked in and started taking bloods without any explanation or introduction. I just feel that they need to remember we are all individuals regardless of their routines.
My granddaughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes and treated at city hospital. We were very happy the way she was treated.
Staff at city hospital needs more training in handling Confidentiality.
Communication fantastic. Staff work together at all levels as one team.
I have a rare type of cancer which was treated well at QE Cancer Centre, when treatment finished I was told that I will be called for regular follow up check-ups after every 8 weeks to City hospital, but I only once received an appointment letter from City hospital. For all the other appointments I had to chase the staff at department to get an emergency appointments for check-ups. I reported this to PALS twice but with no success. I am very upset with this appointment crisis at city hospital which has resulted in useless stress.
Two months ago my mother fell over and her hand was bruised and swollen, we went to city hospital A&E where we were seen after a wait of 5 hrs and they said everything is fine. After two days mom was still in pain we went to GP again he said that A&E nurse should have done the X ray to check for internal damage. We went back to A&E again X ray was taken and after 10 days result still awaited. Pathetic service provided.
Been a patient here for a long time under immunology. Unfortunately they have run out of treatment options for my condition, but the staff have tried to get me the very latest treatments. My consultant is excellent, but sometimes has only a very short time to see me in. The facilities are very dated, and I've had to visit my consultant in some terrible offices. For a while the clinic was based in the rooms about the maternity hospital. I cannot have a baby because of risk of birth defects with my medications, and it was incredibly upsetting to have to walk through the maternity reception each time to get to the clinic. The waiting area seemed to be the place where all broken and odd chairs in the hospital came to retire.
They've now moved to other space in the hospital, but it's all very run down.
Was going thru lot issues. Was helped with all
My relative was a long term chronic patient, over the years I noticed that they stopped the yearly check ups to determine if the patient was getting worse.
Patient changed hospital outpatients to the QE which I feel had a better service from staff.
rapid service for a person under 16
My relative was sent an appointment, it was an evening one, so we tried to change it but they took her off the list. She is still waiting for an appointment - over a year.
