Slow to get things done but they do listen
October 20, 2025
I am in the foster care system and have the support of a social worker. I feel that my social worker does listen to my thoughts, feelings and concerns, but at times they are slow to get things done. They are sorted eventually but the process can be very slow which is frustrating sometimes.
Social workers are Jobsworths

Children's services are really bad. They don't listen to the parents. They don't help. They just signpost you to services and it's just a tick box exercise. You would think that if you have a child that is palliative they would kick in action. They have no idea of the realities families have to go through, if they left their offices they would know. It's been going on for years. Denied knowing my children. All the social workers we have seen have been rubbish. They're jobsworths.
Lack of consistency.

Foster son has come here today as the local authority do a check up for children new into the county. This is also for children in foster care in general. There is a lack of consistency with social workers. Staff are always leaving and someone new replaces them. There's a lack of consistency.
