Chief Executive – Andy Cave

Andy leads Healthwatch Birmingham & Solihull, overseeing both strategic direction and day-to-day operations. He works closely with the Board and staff team to ensure that the organisation delivers high-quality, inclusive services that reflect the experiences of local people.
Andy has extensive experience in the voluntary and community sector, particularly in health and social care. His leadership roles have focused on tackling inequality, strengthening community engagement, and developing innovative, responsive services. He is passionate about making sure public voice drives real change in health and care systems.

Head of Operations – Jane

Jane leads the operational delivery of our work. She oversees our staff team, systems, and projects, making sure everything runs smoothly and that our work reflects the experiences of local people.

Jane has a strong background in health-related research, having worked in major teaching hospitals, Education for Health, Brunel University, and the University of Birmingham. She is passionate about creating inclusive, high-performing teams and ensuring that public feedback drives real improvements in health and social care.

Operations & Governance Coordinator - Di

Di is Office Co-ordinator (PA to the CEO and Secretary to the Board). Her role is to co-ordinate the office ensuring all team members have the resources they need to fulfil their roles in a safe and effective environment and ensure the efficient and smooth running and governance of Healthwatch Birmingham & Solihull. Di works closely with the CEO and the Board, helping them to perform their roles effectively and is the first point of contact for enquiries. Di ensures that the CEO’s time is prioritised, negotiating meetings and appointments accordingly and provides secretariat support to the quarterly board meetings.

Di has worked in administration roles throughout her working life and has predominantly worked in the Third Sector. In previous roles she has worked for multiple managers and worked closely with the CEO and provided Board support in a Birmingham Charity. Di is passionate about working for organisations that play a major part in making a positive difference to people’s lives

Data and Insight Coordinator – Sarah

Sarah leads on transforming public feedback into clear, actionable insight at Healthwatch Birmingham. She manages our data systems, analyses trends, and produces visual reports that support our projects, consultations, and strategic planning. Her work helps us understand what matters to local people, highlighting emerging issues, gaps in services, and opportunities for improvement. Sarah also supports internal learning and contributes to governance and compliance through robust data practices. She brings experience from a range of sectors, including Local Government, and is committed to helping Birmingham and Solihull’s communities access better health and social care

Max - Marketing and Communications Coordinator

Max's role is manage our Information and Signposting service, helping healthcare users to understand the options available to them, and ensuring their experiences are being heard. He also promotes our work and collects feedback through the Healthwatch Birmingham social media accounts.

Max previously worked for Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council on the Employed for Success project which helped local people with their employability skills. He has a Master’s degree in Global Citizenship, Identities and Human Rights from the University of Nottingham.

Community Engagement Coordinator – Kca-Sey

Kca-Sey leads our outreach across Birmingham and Solihull, gathering feedback from people who use health and social care services. She works face-to-face with communities to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to share their experiences.

Her role includes planning and delivering inclusive engagement activities, supporting volunteers, and helping ensure that feedback is recorded accurately and used to shape Healthwatch’s work. Kca-Sey also contributes to reporting, communications, and internal learning.

She holds a degree in Health and Social Care from Newman University and previously worked as a Research Assistant in a small team. She brings a thoughtful, people-centred approach to her work and is committed to amplifying voices that are often overlooked.

Volunteer Coordinator – Georgina

Georgina leads our volunteer programme, recruiting and supporting people from across Birmingham and Solihull to get involved in Healthwatch’s work. She ensures volunteers are well-trained, confident, and meaningfully involved in projects and engagement activities. Her role includes coordinating onboarding, developing training pathways, and helping volunteers contribute to public-facing events, research, and co-production. Georgina also tracks volunteer impact and works to make volunteering inclusive and accessible. She holds a degree in Business and Advertising and has previously worked for Birmingham City Council. Georgina values listening to people’s experiences and creating opportunities for them to shape local health and social care.

Data Entry Officer – Sam

Sam is responsible for making sure all the feedback we hear is accurately recorded. She gained experience in reaching out to diverse communities and supporting vulnerable people to have a voice through providing advice, guidance and signposting to patients, public and professionals at advocacy service Pohwer for over 7 years, where she also inputted referrals and trained colleagues. Sam has BA (hons) degrees in Criminal Justice and Social Policy and Social Care.

Research & Data Officer - Adam

Adam’s role as our research and data officer is to ensure that our investigations and consultation responses are delivered on time and to a high standard as well as handling the feedback we receive from the community.

Adam graduated with a BSc (Hons) in psychology in 2022 and has previously spent time working as a research assistant on a number of health and wellbeing focused research projects. He aims to use his research skills to identify key issues affecting the public to inform change in the care they are receiving.

Community Engagement Officer - Jayne

Jayne graduated with a BA (Hons) in Social Justice Studies in 2022. During her degree, she completed a work placement with Healthwatch Solihull and joined our volunteer team in 2020, before taking up employment with us in January 2023.
She is passionate about empowering people and, through her role as Community Engagement Officer, ensures that voices from underrepresented groups, including carers, children and young people, and vulnerable adults, are heard and included in conversations about health and social care. Jayne collects and records feedback, provides information and signposting to people in the community, supports volunteers at public events, and helps ensure that community insights shape Healthwatch’s priorities and reporting. She also works closely with colleagues to coordinate logistics, share stories, and escalate issues when needed. Jayne brings strong experience in inclusive engagement and is committed to making sure everyone has the opportunity to share their views.

Project & Signposting Officer - Brett

Brett works across Healthwatch Birmingham & Solihull’s projects and signposting service, helping to gather public feedback, deliver evidence-led investigations, and support people in navigating health and social care services. He contributes to research design, data analysis, and reporting, while also providing information and signposting by phone and online.
His role involves identifying themes in public feedback, supporting consultation responses, and ensuring that service users’ experiences inform wider improvements. Brett also helps track recurring issues and contributes to strategic reporting and stakeholder engagement.
He brings experience from roles in mental health support, local government, and data analytics, and holds degrees in Psychology and Applied Behaviour Analysis. Brett is focused on using evidence to drive change and make services more responsive to people’s needs.

Community Engagement & Signposting Officer - Rachel

Rachel is a Community Engagement and Signposting Officer at Healthwatch Birmingham & Solihull. She works to ensure people’s voices are heard in health and social care. In her role, she listens to people’s stories, helps them access the right support, and makes sure their feedback contributes to improving services for everyone.
Before joining Healthwatch, Rachel worked as an Independent Domestic Violence Advocate (IDVA) in Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent, supporting members of the LGBT+ community experiencing domestic abuse.
She holds a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from the Open University and a Master’s degree in Forensic Psychology from Nottingham Trent University.
